This was short and steamy, while exploring two characters with dark pasts in which both were abused by their fathers, and Nelly was caught up in guilt over things she'd said to her best friend before she tragically died. I loved how Nelly and Tag went about protecting themselves in opposite ways, with her being quiet and him being a partier and a bit of a playboy. I loved that the two had known each other their whole lives, and though they didn't realize it, the two had had a thing for each other for a long time. When Nelly turned twenty-one, he said some jerkish things about her being a virgin and that she could come see him on any birthday up to her thirtieth if she ever wanted to change that. Well, she did, and in doing so, Nelly learned that she couldn't hide in the tragedy of losing her friend, or being wary of everyone. Plus, she finally convinced Tag to learn to stop protecting himself and learn to live without being afraid of becoming like his father. So if you couldn't tell, Nelly was my favorite part about this book, but Tag was a pretty awesome match for her. I'm excited to see where this series goes.
