*I received an ARC as part of the launch team for a fair and honest review. Max Lucado #helpisherebook
Max Lucado’s upcoming book, ‘Help Is Here: Finding Fresh Strength and Purpose in the Power of the Holy Spirit’ is filled with well-articulated, thought-provoking and understandable messages – affirmations that we don’t need to look far to discover the help we need in our journey through life.
God is right here. He has our every need supplied, and has His protective arms wrapped around us. Even if we can’t feel Him or see Him, He is here – His Holy Spirit is not just our guide, but the Holy Spirit is the shadow, the intercessor and protector.
The proof, as Mr. Lucado credibly asserts, is in the scriptures, and if that is not enough, there are personal stories peppered all through each chapter – relatable stories of people like you and me and how they came through the good, the bad and ugly of life.
G-O-D.
To be released in a few weeks, the book, with its eye-catching cover, resembles most of Mr. Lucado’s writing, in that you can actually feel his passion, his genuine love of the Lord and helping God’s people and his earnestness in sharing the gospel in his unique way.
Most books like ‘‘Help Is Here: Finding Fresh Strength and Purpose in the Power of the Holy Spirit’ tend to be, sorry to say, long-winded and like the writer is ‘sermonizing’ so that the reader has no other choice but to follow what the writer says.
That doesn’t happen here. Reading this book was like I was sitting on the floor in the den or living room of a family member’s home or a church member’s home, with a fire going, and others, surrounding me.
There’s coffee, hot tea, freshly baked cookies and the “dad” of the group is facilitating a discussion. There is a feeling of unconditional love, safety, open-heartedness, compassion and comfort.
Close your eyes … You will see it … Well, that is how I felt as I read through the book, and I am pretty sure you will too.
‘Help Is Here: Finding Fresh Strength and Purpose in the Power of the Holy Spirit’ is scheduled to release the second or third week in September – you can find it on Amazon, Christian Books and other credible book retailers. *https://www.amazon.com/Help-Here-Faci... #helpisherebook
What great insight! A deep dive into the Holy Spirit.
Many people know who God and Jesus are, but don’t have a true understanding of the Holy Spirit. This is a great study companion along with scripture! I’ve learned new things that I never knew and was introduced to the Holy Spirit’s many forms.
This book shows us how the Holy Spirit is there for us in our time of need. He refreshes us, removes the impurities, he intercedes and protects us!! And so much more!
Not only should you read this, but I encourage you to take notes and highlight those things that stand out. Let God speak to you and show you that he brought you a helper to walk alongside you before, during, and after the storms.
Max Lucado does it again. I love how he takes a difficult theological topic, such as the trinity and the Holy Spirit, and brings it down to earth. Hitting home the idea we cannot do this alone, he shows the purpose of The Spirit by giving real life examples of what this looks like. Concepts like The Spirit as a teacher, an intercessor, a calmer, a cleanser, a guide, and a guard show how we are never alone. Life may not be perfect but we always have a major force in our corner. Help is truly here.
My Bible study has completed many Max Lucado books over the years. Max has a wonderful gift of storytelling, helping the reader to connect and remember spiritual truths that he shares. I found this book to be a wonderful explanation of all the powers and abilities of the Holy Spirit, an often misunderstood and forgotten part of the Trinity. I highly recommend this book to someone who wants to expand their knowledge of the Holy Spirit. It will leave you encouraged, knowing that God resides in you, never leaving you alone to face the challenges of this world.
Max Lucado is one of the best. I love the stories he shares, and they make the content more meaningful. This book on the Holy Spirt was very insightful and a great read if you want to learn more about how the Holy Spirit plays a significant role in your life.
I read this book as part of a book study at my church. Overall, the book had a few gems, but it was repetitive. I didn't find the author's voice relatable, but he did give me things to think about. Ultimately, we had several good group discussions which spawned from his lessons.
Many Christians have read a book or two from Max Lucado. He’s a well respected author. This new book of his first grabbed my attention since Max talks about praying in tongues as a part of his daily routine. Not because it’s part of his routine…but because he changed his mind on the subject after searching the scriptures and searching for God. I’m glad I did! This is such confirmation on how important a daily walk with the Lord is. I’m glad I read it! It’s a very accessible book on the Holy Spirit.
Help is Here was extremely helpful in defining the Holy Spirit and how He works in our lives. Seemingly always in the background Lucado defines how the Spirit lives in us. ow that the reading is done there are questions to go through as a study guide that I will add to my daily prayers and Bible reading. So grateful for this book. It answered so many questions that I had in normal language with a bit of humor thrown in. Recommended for anyone who wants to know who the Holy Spirit is and what he does for us and in us.
I have so appreciated the spiritual books of author Max Lucado. He writes in an easy to understand, down to earth and encouraging style, imparting helpful information and wisdom about God’s word in order to grow as a Christian. Learning more about the Holy Spirit is one of my goals this year and this book, in my opinion is perhaps the best one I have read from Mr. Lucado. His writing opened my mind to things I had not considered or thought of before. Five stars from me and a definite recommendation!
An excellent book on the Holy Spirit, His role in the trinity, and His role in our lives as Christians! I want to be more aware of the Spirit’s nudges and the thoughts He daily brings to my mind. I’m not the biggest fan of Mac Lucado’s writing style and I listened to the audio book version read by him, which may have affected that. His style does include a lot of stories which I’m not opposed to, but I feel like I’m a generation younger than his audience.
This is the best Max Lucado book I have ever read! I learned so much about the Holy Spirit, made so many notes, and looked up a ton of scripture. It was truly a blessing!
Of course 5 stars for the Jesus book. Was a good Bible group book. Had some interesting points and very good story telling to relate things to our lives. Was hard to have a long discussion about it but definitely worth gathering and talking about some of the things mentioned
There is never a bad time to read a Lucado book or about the Holy Spirit but I will say, picking this up leading up to Pentecost was 10/10.
If you're looking to be encouraged, learn about the Holy Spirit and how He is ever present in you & working in/through you today- check this out. Lucado brings insight and biblical truths with personal stories from his life, lots of scripture and tools/encouragement that you can lean on in a practical and biblical way to help you understand the Holy Spirit and remind you that you are not alone. Highly recommend this one!
As always, author Max Lucado has a special way with words, illustrating ideas with phrases and anecdotes in a way that makes them clear and gives them life.
I really enjoyed this book when I started but….. I felt Max stepped back when it got hard. I felt it was elementary. I felt there was a lot of repetition.
I received an advanced copy of Help is Here. I really wanted to read this book as I am going through a very difficult season of life. Mr. Lucado does an excellent job of examining each nuance of the Holy Spirit’s personality. After reading this book I have a better understanding of the role the Holy Spirit has in the believer’s life and how to listen for guidance and accept the comfort that is so generously offered. I would definitely recommend this book if you are going through a difficult time or just want to increase your understanding of the Holy Spirit.
Help is Here, by Max Lucado, is a wonderful read. Full of personal stories, Scripture references and life-giving application, you will be drawn close to the person of the Holy Spirit and learn how this ever-present help will bring peace to your day and wisdom to your life. Max writes with a conversational voice and speaks as one who has walked the walk. His wisdom echoes through the pages and the truth he brings from God's Word is solid and practical. His wife, Andrea, has included thought-provoking questions at the end of the book that will deepen your experience and understanding of the content. This is a must read for anyone who wants to understand and experience life by the power of the Holy Spirit.
I love Max Lucado's books in general, but this is the book I have been waiting for. The Holy Spirit is the helper that Jesus promised us, and I often find myself talking to the Spirit when I have a bad day, but the reality is that I really know very little about the Spirit. This book has taught me so much! The best part is learning that the Spirit is even more there for us than I ever could have imagined. I didn't know that the principle job of the Spirit is to teach us. more about Jesus! The Spirit is our comforter, counselor, advocate and intercessor. He is our "Paraclete."
I mean it’s Max so need I say more? Oh ok you want to know. This book on the Holy Spirit is here at the right time in this mixed up and crazy world we currently live in. This book is a needed reminder on everything we know about the Holy Spirit. If your new to our world it’s a great book to pick up and start learning. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity. He lives inside us. He’s important to know.
Max has done it again! Inspiring, down-to-earth, and Spiritual - Max explains the Holy Spirit in a way that is very easy to understand. In this current political and world situation, I finished reading this book with a renewed sense of urgency to pray for revival and for the Holy Spirit to pour out upon God's people to make change.
The Spirit is the dove of peace who calms us, the gift giver who equips us, the river of living water who flows out of us to refresh the world.
Max Lucado has a way of taking some of the hard, perhaps confusing, concepts in the Bible, and making them clear. In this book he takes on the Holy Spirit, and makes clear who the spirit is, and how he can work within us, if only we believe and ask him in.
He empowers us to be what he calls us to be.
Jesus walked the earth, and died at the age of 33, after which he conquered death and appeared on earth another 40 days. During those 40 days he gave instruction to his disciples to wait on The Holy Spirit, prior to going out. Jesus was confident of the disciples and empowered them to preach His message of salvation, and that we are never alone. Jesus would leave us with the power of the Holy Spirit, as our guide, comforter and peace giver.
I admit that my study of, and knowledge of exactly who the Holy Spirit is, was lacking. I needed this book, not only to make clear who the Holy Spirit is, but to harness the full potential of how The Spirit moves and empowers me to live my life with the full knowledge of, and leaning on, The Spirit - made real. I have studied the Bible my entire life. Only, I acknowledge that this book is truly eye opening, and life changing. I now read the scripture in a new light, and with new eyes.
This review is for the audio version of the book - which is read by the author. I’m also reading a hard copy, to go along with a Bible study.
In the way Max Lucado presents information in all of his writings, he tells us in Help is Here about the Holy Spirit—with lots of Scripture as the basis to which he adds humor and anecdotes to make his point clear and personalize it for the reader. I never realized how many verses of the Bible, especially the New Testament, talk about the Holy Spirit: who He is, His job description, and how we can access His power and help. As always, Max points the reader to God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
When you are in such despair that you don’t know how to pray, the Holy Spirit will intercede and pray for you. When you have a task that is too big for you, you can have the Holy Spirit walking beside you, empowering you. Nothing is too big or too hard for Him. When you need direction, the Holy Spirit is there. When you feel totally undone, the Holy Spirit can breathe new life into you. If you have never investigated the role of the Holy Spirit, I urge you to read Help is Here. Max explains His role in the world and urges you to welcome the Holy Spirit into every part of your day. Practical and inspirational, Help is Here is a treasure for Christians whether you have been walking with Jesus for a lifetime or you have just met Him. If you are a seeker wanting to know more about God, this is a good book for you too.
I have been reading Max Lucado's books for years, and I have reread and took notes of each and every one of them. His writing is so wonderful, you feel like you are there with him, as he is writing. I discovered this when I was reading the Chapter where Max Lucado, goes to the Sistine Chapel, I was thinking of my own experience there, on my "Pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi's." I was in awe of the way Michelangelo depicted the different periods of mankind. The same way Max Lucado described it, it brought me there and made it come alive again, in my memories. # Help is here: Finding fresh Strength and purpose in the power of the Holy Spirit. Reminds us that we are not alone, that the Holy Spirit, is a PERSON who is there to help. He is a comforter, a friend, a gift giver, his voice out ranks others, he asks you to be obedient , patient, prayerful, to draw you closer to him. "The Spirit, like a hot iron, can straighten out the crumpled areas of your life so you'll feel no need to hide them." Max Lucado
This is a must read, for all. We all have problems, of some degree, here is your answers.
