Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.
As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.
In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.
Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.
As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.
Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.
Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.
Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.
Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. Some of his books include Escape the Coming Night, The Power of Encouragement, What the Bible Says About Angels, Prayer The Great Adventure, which brought him The Gold Medallion Award in 1998, God In You, Gifts from God
As is Dr. Jeremiah’s profound gift, this book is yet another wonderful encouragement to believers seeking to gain plainly communicated knowledge and understanding about the events leading to the approaching “World of the End”. 5 stars and highly recommended.
Excellent timely book. Instead of being discouraged in these challenging times, it was refreshing to have a realistic and hopeful view presented and scripture at the end of each chapter to not only illustrate that chapter's principles, but to encourage and strengthen the reader.
You’ll never regret reading a David Jeremiah book.
Brings clarity and focus on what we are experiencing in this age that resembles the description of end times. Even more importantly David Jeremiah inspires us to react and respond as Jesus wants us to.
This book tells of the end times in easy-to-understand language. It's scary, but at the same time offers hope for us all. God always keeps His promises and gives us every chance to choose to follow Him.
The sovereign God of all creation is in complete control of this world. He alone sustains and determines the end of the world. Trust Jesus as your Savior and follow Him.
This is an excellent book. He goes through then prophecies of the bible to show we are living in a world of the end. He also details how Christians should live in this world.
Very insightful. I loved the scriptures used to remind us to stand firm in our faith. This is an inspiring tool to ensure we are ready for Christ’s return.
Not what I expected. Focuses on Jesus’ final instructions to be ready, instead of things discussed in Revelation. Some good general reminders. I was hoping for more analysis orn Revelation.
First sentence: Our world is in bad shape, and sometimes we feel that way too, don't we? In our better moments we know we're encompassed by God's blessing, yet we seem to struggle mightily with anxiety, fear, resentment, and discouragement. The chaos of the world seeps into our hearts. Fear can erode faith if we let it.
I appreciated how David Jeremiah spins the 'end of the world' to 'the world of the end.' This isn't a book necessarily about the WHEN of "the end of the world," nor does it try to focus on specifics--piecing together news headlines and scriptures taken out of context. This is about the 'birth pangs,' or the time before the 'end of the world.' This time could span--has spanned--decades, centuries, etc. No one knows the exact day and time of his coming, or the proper start to the end of the world, the tribulation. But we can study Jesus' words to his disciples about the end times. We can study Revelation and other passages of Scripture. We can piece together principles on how those teachings should shape priorities. How we live day by day should reflect our study of these end time prophecies. Not so we can debate. Not so we can argue. Not so we can prep--literally. Not so we can live in fear OR live recklessly.
His chapter titles are themed and thought-provoking:
In a World of Deception, BE HONEST In a World of War, BE CALM In a World of Disasters, BE CONFIDENT In a World of Persecution, BE PREPARED In a World of Betrayal, BE FAITHFUL In a World of Lawlessness, BE KIND In a World of Bad News, BE THE GOOD NEWS In the World of the End, BE DETERMINED
I enjoyed reading this one more than I thought I would. It was good.
Quotes:
I can't get excited about any book that inspires concern about future events but ignores what God wants us to do today. My study of prophecy convinces me that God intends knowledge of future events to help us occupy our world with a sense of urgency until the Lord returns. (20)

The World of the End How Jesus' Prophecy Shapes Our Priorities by Dr. David Jeremiah Pub Date 04 Oct 2022 Thomas Nelson--W Publishing,Thomas Nelson Christian| Religion & Spirituality
Thomas Nelson and Netgalley sent me a copy of The World of the End to review:
We need hope now more than ever in a world that seems out of control. Wouldn't it be great if the Bible provided the hope you needed?
Our world is filled with lies and distrust. Wars and rumors of war. Chaos and devastation. Pressure and persecution. A lawless, loveless world. Every day seems to bring bad news. With bad news comes questions: "Why?" What can be done? What can we do?" And perhaps most importantly: "Is this it?"
David Jeremiah, bestselling author, pastor, and respected Bible teacher, points us to God's hand rather than the problems at hand. When Jesus delivered His Olivet Discourse, scholars have called it "the most important prophecy passage in the Bible."
The World of the End teaches you: Even in difficult times, we can live victoriously according to the Bible
Besides calling Christians to a higher standard, Jesus equips us with the tools and strength we need to confidently follow him
In the gospels, you can trust that God is in control and that his plan is still on track
As we approach the End of the World, Dr. Jeremiah reveals exactly what Jesus promised us and what He expects of us.
I give The world of the End four out of five stars!
At the recommendation of a friend, I grabbed The World of the End by Dr. David Jeremiah when I spotted it at a local thrift store. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. Just before page 50, I even started over so I could take notes and tab important insights I didn’t want to forget—and definitely plan to share with family and friends.
This book takes a deep, scripture-rich look at how the events happening in our world today reflect the words of Jesus in Matthew 24. Dr. Jeremiah presents a compelling case that what Jesus described not only speaks to our current times but also parallels the early judgments in Revelation. He explains that these are the “birth pangs”—signs that will continue to intensify until the Rapture and the Tribulation.
Each phrase of Jesus’ prophecy in Matthew 24 is broken down and explored with supporting scripture. It’s a powerful warning, but also a call to live with purpose, compassion, and hope as believers.
Whether end-times prophecy is something you study often or not, this is an eye-opening, family-friendly read that every Christian can benefit from. I walked away feeling both challenged and comforted—and more equipped to live well in uncertain times.
This treasure will get you focused on your heavenly home but not without thinking about the ones who don’t know Jesus. You will consider others and their readiness, you will being to think about what can you do that you haven’t already done. But thought the leading of the Holy Ghost, Lord what can I do??? Be the Bible that they can see, see what you say, the love of God, the peace of God resting on you causing others to question do they really have it as good as they think, because if they don’t have Jesus Christ, the answer is No. Be the one they can turn to as they consider their final resting place. Trust in the Lord and the power of the Word of God and the Blood of Jesus.
Dr. Jeremiah has written a hundred books or so and has preached for a lifetime, yet he states that he has never truly undertaken an End Times book, especially the scripture of Matthew 24. His pattern is to compare the statements of Matthew to the first four seals mentioned in Revelation and propose an encouraging message to live in these difficult times. Knowing that pain and suffering exist for all in this fallen world, but with the blessing of a loving God, one can overcome and endure to the end while rejoicing. The end is coming, we do not know the time, but we can prepare with our faithful service in His Kingdom—a good read.
Quick to read and easy to understand, Dr. David Jeremiah gives a clear picture, through scripture, of how the world will end and how we can be spiritually prepared through the "birth pains" of the current times and what is to come near the end. Despite the seemingly grim nature of the topic, this book was rather comforting and uplifting. There were several testimonies of people who persevered through adversity and kept the faith even when it was difficult. I do feel like some things were repeated a lot, and other things could have been elaborated on more. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
Really made me wonder if I've been doing enough. I know that we're not judged on our works but am I doing enough to further the kingdom of heaven, to let others know that there is a way to escape the coming a tribulation. And am I really loving people the way Jesus wants me to... Like I said, thought provoking.
This is a timely book and a good read, but somewhat repetitive of Dr. Jeremiah's other works. I would have liked to see more thoughtful, personal input on his part, rather than snippets of stories involving other people with corresponding Bible excerpts. Not that his knowledge isn't included, but the book seems to rest on experiences and words of others. Still a worthwhile read, though.
This book has excellent advice for all Christians, as well as those not sure of what the Bible says. The passages, illustrations, scriptures are presented logically, Biblically, and hold much wisdom. I enjoyed the encouragement, practical steps that all can use.
I loved this book. It is written so that it was easy to understand and to read how the author tied in important Bible verses and how they relate to the world today.
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ! I anxiously await His return. What a glorious day it will be. All praise to God Almighty!
I love his knowledge of the Bible. I enjoy his books on prophecy. This book is another informative read. You can compare it to the Bible for its truth. He just helps you to understand it better.
“And, as never before, we need to understand that the growing insanity in our world isn't primarily a political or military problem. It is a spiritual problem. The further our world strays from Christ, the closer it drifts toward cruelty and chaos. Jesus said wickedness will increase.”
