Some of the drakes of Hove go off exploring, seeking out strange new worlds, going where no dragon has gone before, and generally acting like drakes. It is not a matter of complete delight.

A continuation of the adventures of the mating flight crew, extended.
After their unintended and unexpected success at making Hove a place where draconic society tries to reform the most rigid aspects of its habits, they hit the road on an endeavour to adapt the institution of mating flight accordingly.
The assembled team is mostly new dragons, with some known from the end of book 2, and a few members of the mating flight.
Osoth who's still such a necromancer geek (unchecked he would bring back all the undead gods he fancies without a thought for the aftermath), and Tultamaan's wit still making up for his lack of forearms. Hyxy still enjoys rampaging on small people for fun (she calls that sanitization but to have her own kind scowling at it is a feat).
The exploration itself is full of surprises, sometimes a little challenging in descriptions (same way Sythyry's journal can be), loaded as it is with exotic words and features.
Given the background of the expedition, one can guess the exploration will be as much inwards that outwards. As in the previous books, the serious matters are well embedded in comedy.
Oh and I almost fortgot the legal disclaimer : few dragons and not a significant amount of small people were killed or injured in the making of this book.
