Ye screw with this lass, ye get put on yer ass. Magic, dragons, elves, and vampires are my new normal. At any point, I might get attacked by an angry book, be on the shit-list for forgetting to hook up my battle bear's keg, or get called to investigate a gruesome magical murder. And how cool is that? Well... the investigating part, not so much the murder. When Garnet brings Team Trouble in to investigate a string of discarded bodies, none of us likes where the evidence points. My Spidey-sense says something isn't right. In the human realm, the evidence doesn't lie. In the empowered realm... nothing is as it seems.

Book nine I do like this series it is original, it's about changes and how you feel with them keeping true to who you are it's also big on family and loyalty. Plus there is action and adventure. There is a love interest but it is very slow burn nothing happened in first two books I am guessing the authors did not want to make it about two people in love, this series is about Fiona and her coming into her powers and learning about the world. My problem with it is I don't feel she treat slone well he has loved her from the start waited for her to be ready she knows he is it for her they even call his father her father in law, it's not wrong to wait but wait for what? How many times has she nearly died of he did you would think it would make her just go for it.Plus it feels like he is ready just waiting for her to be.In this book I would of liked her to step up and shock him with a nice....I will. After all isn't she ment to have a big heart?
My thanks to both authors for this marvelous series of books. These stories have helped me cope with losing 3 members of my chosen family in a 5 month time frame. A good book starts with 3 things: an idea, an author or two and talent. This series has all three. Well done!
I haven’t been rating these books, but I definitely am enjoying them. There’s some action, which I like, there’s Irish mythology, which I especially enjoy…and it is relatively just a nice, smooth ride & I wish I were part of the family in the book :)
I will definitely read or listen to this series again in the future.
Enjoying this series, there’s a lot going on. My fave thing is Wallace accepting Sloan 👌 that was great. I love Dionysus and Nikon.
I’m with Fi on not looking Ciera.. but for very different reasons. She’s upset that Ciera and her man bumped uglies before— I’m upset because Ciera attacked Fi, degraded Sloan by mocking his penis size in public, called Fi a bitch and worse IN FRONT of Emmet.. and so much more. She’s ugly, her attitude is ugly. Idgaf how hard her privileged life is, common decency isn’t rocket science and she couldn’t even manage that.
I guess I’m taking it as a bit of a betrayal from Emmet, and it clouds my enjoyment. When he asked Fi, on top of everything else she’s doing, to organize a holiday since he lied to his gf to “seem more Druid” was like slapping Fi in the face from my perspective. I realize she doesn’t see it like that, but I do. I thought Fi was the youngest, but it’s got to be Emmett since he’s always whining about something.
Huh. I just realized I don’t like that much Emmet either, think that happened around the time he flipped Fi off as a parting gesture before she went into the Fae Realm and almost died. He was wingeing then too. Then wants to move the bitch into Fi’s house and never once considers how Fi feels, but demands she consider him. What a loser. ((Hint: she only started playing nice when she wanted to fuck Fi’s brother))
Alllllsssoo.. I wish Dart was less of an afterthought for Fiona. It’s more like she’s looking for a place to dump Dart into storage than create any type of life for him. How could she not consider food? I know she didn’t ask to be mother of dragons, but the book keeps *telling* me she loves Dart but it’s definitely not *showing* she does by her actions and thoughts. Disheartening
Despite this, I do love the series and am gobbling it up. Can’t wait to see what happens next
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Seriously? Listen folks and pay close attention. This is the NINTH book in a series. Did you catch that? Count ‘Em. Nine. Apparently I’ve also read the other eight, and I’m still here asking for more and begging Auburn to keep them coming.
Now out of all of that information, which you had before you even started reading this review, where do you I hid that other shoe that’s about to drop? Oh….! Right! THERE ISN’T ONE. And guess what? There’s not a single negative point I can say about this book either. Well…. Maybe that the author could have added another 1,000 pages, or so, because I’m never happy to get the end of one of her books, but that’s probably a bit much. Honestly, I’m sure I could live with an extra 950 pages just fine.
Nine books into the process and any kinks seem to have been ironed out. The rhythm and timing of the story are flawless, the build up and suspense are much more subtle rather than blatant this time. And…
3.5 but rounded down because the small errors were a little more prominent.
This was a nice addition to the series. Not my favorite, as my favorite topics weren’t front and center, but I definitely appreciated what the book brought up.
Part of me feels like the romance doesn’t exactly get more emphasized. It’s almost like watching Naruto. The ships are there but it’s not the most important thing. It comes and goes, don’t get me wrong, and I laugh when it’s unexpected. By book 9 though, I guess I was just hoping for a little less “trouble of the day” and a little more lurve between some couples. The lack of depth and time kinda just makes it feel like the story goes the more vague route so that it can get in everything it wants. Which isn’t bad. Just not what I expected personally.
Dart gets the side treatment and I’m hoping he gets more done. I think the balance of “work” and “personal issues” is a little off for me but otherwise I have fun. I love Fi’s family and how strong it is. I love the chosen family and new friends. It does get a little repetitive with some lines and moments but otherwise a good read.
I want to like the Fi character, but she consistently just comes off as a narcissistic character who says one thing (touts family, love, etc) but then acts inconsistently with her words by showing she's only self-involved and concerned with how things affect her. Part of that may be how her character still "sounds" like a self-involved juvenile rather than a young woman in her early twenties. I just can't believe someone of that ilk being trusted with serious responsibility (by multiple people??); at least the unintentional farce of that scenario keeps the books light and entertaining.
Side questions: 1) If the family is so uber-close, how would the Sierra & Emmett relationship ever even get off the ground after her previous attack of Fi? This isn't even a "be the bigger person" scenario. That woman attacked your sister.
2) Fi made her opinion of Sierra known and then later Emmett wants to move her in? Emmett wasn't previously portrayed as oblivious, selfish, egocentric, or lacking of EQ but that move reeks of it. Even IF the Sierra relationship WAS made believable, Emmett & Sierra finding their own place would've been a better sell.
This Heroine, her family and this series is just about my favorite series out of All those Anderle is a part of! The humor and realistic family relationships star in the Druid series and the magic is just the glitter on top of the absolute pleasure I get reading them! However, this story just seems to be shorter (or issues in it are resolved quicker & Easier) than the last- which seemed to be over faster than the one before that and that one quicker, etc…. I find myself worrying while reading, being pulled out of the story, if they’re trying to end the series ASAP? Or, making the books short to sell more, (I’d like to think these Authors wouldn’t resort to that). I’d hate for Fiona and family to end their adventures any time soon- I’m still trying to grow up to become more like her! (And I’m no kid!) Thank you, love these books.
This is a very binge-able series with this book being no exception. Fi and the gang are so relatable and her, dare I say, daily dance with chaos is so unbelievable but fun. Unlike a lot of the books, we see more of Grant for this outing as well as deal with more Guild issues.
Dart is still a sweetie, and Bruin is certainly earning his keep in this adventure. However things are not looking so great for the Cumhaills, and Fi is dealing with way too many problems leaving her vulnerable. Love the direction the series is headed, just wish more of what Fi experienced in Greece would come to the fore (like the big cat).
LOVE this whole series! I can't even begin to tell how much I love these books - I have not been disappointed by a single volume, and while I could go into detail, I won't: because it shouldn't be spoiled!
These are light, while also being engaging, edge of your seat, funny and heartwarming ALL at the same time. The endings are not always happy, everyone does not always get their way, things are not always roses, life is - well, life. But that's the beauty of it! These stories allow you to feel ALL the emotions, but do not stop to let you wallow in any single emotional space.
I've binge read this series in less than a week. I've always felt an affinity with the Emerald Isle. Reading these books has made me long to go there. Ms. Tempest and Mr. Anderle has weaved a tale of a wonderful Irish family. Their adventures and meetings with creatures and individuals of myth and legend are spellbinding! From the Man 'O Green, Patty to Baba Yaga, from swamp nymphs to Dionysis. You will be drawn into this family's world and wish to become a part of it. Kudos!
Can't say much without spoiling the story for others. It made me go through a gamut of emotion. And I wasn't ready to exit the story, so I am glad I'm behind on my tbr! Really happy this journey isn't over yet. Dionysus is just getting used to Toronto & now he has a touring buddy!
If you think you'll like it, start on book one. The fun never ends for Fi & Sloan...
And the action continues as Fiona and Sloane (and almost everyone) meet head-on with a really evil vampire, an even more evil dark spirit from centuries ago, Beltane, a very pregnant sister-in-law and a dragon new to town. Barely able to breathe here (me, that is). As continues to be the case in this series: lots of family, lots of love, lots of good fighting evil and humor helping to balance the challenges. So glad to read and so glad I am not Fiona.
I’m down back to my childhood home and get lost in the antics of this family( much like mine) where family love, life and loyalty are the key of our core beliefs. The daily hijinx are what keeps everyone on their toes and strengthening their resolve constantly. Thank you both for great writing phenomenally active imaginations!!!
Fiona and company deal with a few brutal murders. The murderers are known, but it is not that simple. Fiona thinks Xavier the local vampire leader is a bad guy, but that is not that simple either.
Throw in Beltane, twins, and Fiona's bonded blue dragon to give a book that is hard to put down.
I have to respectfully disagree with your reviewer, I love the way Fi talks and interacts with others. I have been told I am too honest and have been known to make up my own words to properly express whatever emotion needs to be expressed so I say keep her honest to herself and to others! Love the series and wait with bated breath for the next book.
Thus series continues to grow and get better. The family dynamic is wonderful and lore is pretty neat as well. Fi continues to grow and while action is here, the high jinks are better. It's hard to balance the two properly, but it can, and indeed has, been done in this series. Highly recommended.
Everything about this series is great. The characters and the storylines pull your emotions and keep you wanting to finish the book without stopping. Fiona is always finding herself in danger, but with the help of her family and friends everything gets resolved. There is a ton of action and humor in all the books and I cannot wait for the next story.
I loved this book!! It showed Fiona‘s growth, to be honest it’s the ninth book in the series and Fiona has been kind of perfectly awesome. So it was cool to address her prejudice against the vampires among other things. It was also wonderful to see the family growing in new ways and I’m very excited for the next adventure wonderful job authors!!
Somehow I had missed this book and didn’t realize it until I had started Book 10 in the series. Glad I discovered it. This is a great series. I really enjoy how the family interacts and solves problems together. By now the characters have been developed nicely. The story line continues to be interesting and the individual books are always a good read. Recommended.
I have a hard time writing reviews without giving up too much of the story. I'll try because it was a really adventurous , fun, dangerous story. Dionysus gets into troubles, Fi almost dies a lot, Emmet is a goof in love, Sloan is a badass healer and ok I can't do it. Just read the series its worth your time
Not knowing until recently, the full extent of what authors go through and the lengths to where they go literally around the globe for research and editors, I am appreciating this series even more. I have a high respect for authors and their abilities to share parts of their own experiences and the sacrifices they make on a daily basis to bring their creative writing to the world. Kudos to all!
“Everyone does better if they know they belong somewhere. It’s important.”
This continues to be a fun and feel good series as the Cumhaill clan continues to grow and thrive in book 9. Bruin is amazing as always, and we are getting to see more of Dart, which I love. We are getting to know some of the other heirs better as well.
I have loved this series from the start snd it seems to just get better and better. I love to see the characters grow and I cannot wait to see what the authors have in store for them down the toad
Amazeballs!!!! Auburn Tempest is writing the most heartwarming series in the history of everything!!! Fi and the Fam Jam are S O freaking adorable it's just ridiculous!!! Howard S (The S stands for Super Fan!)
This has been one of the best series I’ve read in a long, long time. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for magic, action, adventure, and hilarity.
I highly recommend this uplifting book, and the endearing series in which it is, to readers who love reading magical Urban Fantasy. I'm especially fond that f the critters, and the family bond they share. Enjoyl
This was definitely a set up for the next arc, but it was done with a quick pace, a thoughtful storyline and tied up some dangling threads in order to put everything where it needs to be for the Mingin line. Looking forward to 10
The Cumhaills friends to man and beast! A family that love with a passion and fight and protect with the same passion. A story the keep you coming back for more.
What’s not to like...set inCanada but full on Irish, this family is full of love, majick and hijinks. I have rarely enjoyed a series as much as this one and the hardest part of reading it becomes waiting for the next book!
