Hopeless book... It is titled medieval history book but it only covers Mugals family. It covers mugal family with very minute details of each one but other rulers hardly 1 or 2 paragraphs. Vijaynagar who ruled almost double the period in comparison with mugal yet it is covered in 20 pages.
It doesn't cover Bahamani, Durgavati, Ajit singh, Ram Dass, Ahom, Sikh gurus and kingdom, Maratha kings & Queens nor it's Peaswa, Abbakka mother and daughter.
If they can't cover everyone in same zeal as mugals at least should reduce mugal content to same level, something like "Babar came to India, his grandson Akbar was popular king among all mugals his great grandson Aurangzeb destroyed mugal empire due his religious bigotry", then they could have at least saved paper.
Hoping something good will there in 3 part of this series.
Book emphasizes too much on the Mughal emperors personalities, associated wars, treaties with allies and foes and Political nature of Royal household. Social and economic conditions of the period come in the narrative rarely. Students looking for Historiography of the times will get much needed information in the book. The book becomes extensive read due to the political narrative which could have been avoided. Focusing exclusively on the Mughal empire is also its limitation as it ignores royalties in other regions and only mentioned in relation to mughal exploits.
🤗One of the best book i ever read on Mughal empire, It contains elaborated details to develop analytical thinking but it is not sufficient to cover facts for competitive examinations.
👉Recommended for UPSC optional and U.G.C Net exam.
👉However, whoever is interested in History can read it.. It is a good shot.
