Draven

I stalk her from the shadows, waiting to make my move.

She’s not like the others.

It’s not just her blood, her very essence calls out to me, begs me to make her mine for all of eternity.

But she claims to hate me, to loathe my kind.

She doesn’t know that I always get what I want. And soon she will be one of us.

Scarlett

One of my earliest memories? Standing frozen in horror as a rogue vampire killed my mother in cold blood.

Now I make it my business to put an end to the blood-sucking scourge, so they can never hurt another human again.

I see him watching me, and I will use his infatuation to drive a stake right through his heart.

This thrilling paranormal romance trilogy has been newly re-edited and is ready to read straight-through to its epic conclusion. Enjoy!

We have mystery, and hate/love. You will laugh in spots and get mad in others. Scarlett hates vampires and has worked hard to become the best at Paranormal Task Force. Draven is an Alpha in town to see whats going on. Who is killing? Can Scarlett find out? Will Draven get in the way? Why is he even becoming involved?

In this world, vampires are out to the world, and sometimes this book borders on horror and sometimes on a more romantic feel. But there is a suspense involved that gives it some staying power. Scarlett is the head of a team for the Paranormal Task Force, to keep any rogue vampires in line. She watched her mother die from a vampire attack and now has made it her task in life to keep vampires from doing the same to others.

Draven is an alpha vampire, who has been alive for centuries, and once he sees Scarlett, he’s drawn to her like no one has. Unfortunately for Scarlett and Draven, they will have to work together to solve a threat to both humans and vampires.

This is a nicely paced book with a lot of action, some hot sex scenes and a bit of horror and gore mixed in. I wasn’t completely onboard with Draven throughout the book, he’s a bit of an overbearing vampire with a possessive streak that takes it a bit far sometimes, but he grew on me as the book progressed. I didn’t like where the book left off, and I will probably move on to the next book in time.

Blurb:
In a world where vampires have escaped the shadows to live openly amongst humans, something new and unseen corrupts the night stalkers of New York. Both sides want answers.
Scarlett DeSoto, a hot-headed lieutenant on the Paranormal Task Force, watched a rogue vampire murder her mother in cold blood. Now she’s made it her life’s mission to put an end to their kind.
Draven Matthias, an ancient vampire prince, is tired of watching his kin live as only shells of what they were meant to be when he recalls a more glorious time in their existence.
They have every reason to hate each other but must find a way to work together to stop this mysterious new threat. There’s a fine line between love and hate, however, and soon passion explodes between them…
A passion that threatens everything.
And everyone.

Okay were do I start….. this book has a very stubborn and strong willed FMC and a hot as sin vampire MMC. I absaloutly love the sexual tension between Scarlett and draven, which of course makes it harder for them to work together. Both characters have amazing personalities for this kind of storyline both separately and together. The storyline was fluid and well thought out and between the amazing characters the storyline this book captures you and gets you digging for more information and more about these characters from the very first chapter. The further in the book you go the more Scarlett and Draven blossom. Love the twist in the middle of this book for Scarlett and how torn she feels between two different lives and that whoper of an ending will leave you needing the next book not just wanting it. Definitely a must read for any fans of vampire books. LOVE LOVE LOVED this book 🖤

Draven & Scarlett: They failed to impress me.

Scarlet suffered a tragedy at a time age where her mother was killed by a vampire. So of course she grows up hating them and Jim’s a special task force to regulate vampire affairs, as this has become the new normal.

Enter: Draven, Alpha vampire who comes to town to investigate a string of vampire murders. He feels connected to Scarlett and seeks to claim her as his own.

This story was just OK. There was nothing extraordinary about them. I wasn’t really interested in them as a couple. As a matter of fact, there were no standouts in this book. It was just OK. This is a part of a series and I’m not compelled to finish it, as it ended in a cliffhanger. Perhaps I’ll come back to it one day when there isn’t anything better to read or my TBR pile decreases.

Happy reading!

The beginning of the book was good- intriguing, even. I thought the world-building had some degree of promise and the premise was interesting enough. But things quickly tapered off from there. Firstly, I found the plot (and the whole book in general, honestly) to just be challenging to follow… I think it’s because of the POV switches that kept jumping backwards, and just generally a lack of detail in matters concerning key plot points. Also, the fmc and mmc character development was very inconsistent- like, for example, one page he’s taking about how he’s going to “show her what happens when you disobey an alpha vampire!”, and the next page he’s like “either be with me or just leave!”. The romance didn’t develop super well for me, either… it was an attempt at enemies to lovers but was really just enemies… then lovers… with nothing in between. Book just wasn’t for me.

The story is interesting. The vampire world created has novel details, at least for me, and the pairing is not as instantaneous as we are used to, which is different. However, despite all the new elements, I found it difficult to feel that electrifying chemistry when the two characters are together.

Scarlett didn't talk about her feelings for Draven. She always talked about how beautiful he was, and there was no connection that made me suffer from the wait. On the other hand, the situation of these monsters and their creation, knowing that they are humans with vampire characteristics and without knowing anything else, is very intriguing.

Following Scarlett's journey from hating everything related to vampires, to accepting and maybe even falling in love with one, was a blast.
I love her snarky responses and comments whenever Draven says anything.
This book is, in my opinion, a perfect combination of crime investigations and finding true love in a world, that no longer is safe for humanity or the remaining paranormals.
I can't wait until the sequal is released, and I get to follow Scarlett and Draven, hopefully, catch the bad guys.

I liked the characters and the premise for this book but it's another one of those books that left me disappointed because it's really only the first act of the play. The characters are introduced, the conflict is established but absolutely nothing is resolved. It's not really even a cliffhanger - |I just felt like I should have been able to turn the page and get on with the next chapter.
Having said that, I did like the characters and I'm a fan of both vampires and police dramas, so I'll probably read the second book at some point.

Vampires don't hide in the shadows. Two should be enemies must work together against a common enemy. The FMS is a strong, independent person. She dislikes vampires, which makes this pairing even harder. The ancient MC vampire is just as headstrong. Working together isn't going to be easy for more reasons than one. Crime drama, love, excitement, and adventure, keeps you turning pages and wanting book 2.

As a child Scarlett was hiding under her bed while her family was being murdered now as an adult Scarlett worked for the paranormal task force she’s a lieutenant and waiting to get revenge for her family but what Scarlett didn’t expect was meeting Draven an alpha vampire. There is so much more going on in this fantastic story I loved it and I can’t wait to read book 2 and I highly recommend this book it’s well worth the read.

This storyline touched my heart. I felt bad for Scarlett at the beginning but if her passed didn't happen then she wouldn't be the person she is now. I just love how Scarlett tried to fight the feelings she has for Draven. When you think that it's going to be a HEA Linsey Moon leaves you with a cliffhanger. Can't wait for book 2

Scarlett takes no 💩 from anyone including the hotness that is Draven. An interesting plot that’s of worth almost as much as the heart warming romance that’s blossoming between them. Love all the side characters and the relationships between them. Hot and spicy with a extra dose of mystery. I can not wait to see how this series progresses

This book gave me whip lash with all of it's twists and turns. We have a slightly different kind of vampire race introduced. It is placed in a grim future, which is looking worse. Will Scarlet become the first of a new kind of law enforcement? This book leads up to that and then leaves us hanging.

I always enjoy reading a book from SK Prince, it had everything that I was hoping for. This was a great start to the Blood & Shadows series, it had a great concept overall. I thought this worked well as a vampire book and was uniquely done. I enjoyed the paranormal romance going on and it was everything that I hoped for.

Clumsy writing made me put it down.

Narrative didn’t flow. Anticipating a lot of nonsense from the leads that I’m just not here for.

Part Underworld and part Resident Evil. Or, at least, I think that’s the shadow I see taking shape. I was pretty quickly pulled into this story. I feel like there are several things going on and all of them will tie in together, but right now, Scarlett and Draven just have a lot of pieces to the puzzle and no clear idea of what the final image will be. Beware the final cliff at the end: it is sudden and it is steep. I think I’ve gone and started falling in love with these characters and I’m more than a little desperate to find out what’s going to happen next.

I really really enjoyed this!!

Definitely going to need to read book 2 to see what happens!!! The Blood and Shadows series is going to slay me!!

Scarlett has a good reason for not liking vampires since she saw her mother brutally murdered by one, which is why she's now a Lt with the Paranormal Task Force, PTD. So she's not sure why she feels such a connection to Draven when she meets him.
Draven knows she is Fated for him, and he will do whatever he can to make her his... even changing her if needed.

The story has a great plotline, and i enjoyed the characters. Im dying to find out what happened to Draven after the last scene!!

I received an ARC for my honest review!
