When revered CIA operative Eddie Jennings fakes his own death to head up a clandestine group of misfits to save the United States from dark forces conspiring to destroy it from within, his world turns upside down.
Living like a cloistered monk in a luxurious but secluded farmhouse to keep his high-tech escapades hidden, and with the world's best electronics and gizmos at his disposal, Eddie (now Ziggy) faces the forces of evil with only a dodgy gang of disenfranchised nonconformists at his disposal.
Ziggy's goal is to shut down incredibly profitable criminal enterprises, but his Little Band of Thieves have other, more personal, plans.
This first book in the Little Band of Thieves series is approximately 76,000 words long.
D.E. Heil was born on a wintry day in Pittsburgh in 1956. His mother was perpetually late for important appointments, and in keeping with her tardy nature, never spent more than twenty minutes in a hospital before birthing any of her four babies.
It is through his close association with Second Amendment issues that he has gained great insight into the world of ordinary Americans willingly accepting the responsibility of providing protection for themselves, their family, and their communities.
Because of his fellowship with typical yet remarkable Americans, his writing career was born. He and his wife live in Pennsylvania where they raised their four children.
Different from what I usually read. I found it a little hard to get interested in the beginning. I found it more interesting as the story continued to develop. I did like the Imps even though I felt like I shouldn't since they were cold blooded. Team work apparently comes to some only after friendship. I know this is fiction but it did make me wonder just how many black ops are happening in the good old USA.
The first part of the book is background info, therefore it is a little slow compared to the rest of the book The more you read, the more interesting the book became. The use of government funds to finance operations that law enforcement agencies are not allowed to do was presented in a believable manner. I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to more stories about “The Little Band of Thieves”.
I enjoyed this mystery story. The storyline was exciting filled with non-stop action. I liked the Imps and the idea of an all women secret team. I would read anything by this author so I didn't hesitate to agree to read this amazing story, looking forward to the next book. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
A first read of a story by this author for me and I'm glad I took the chance as the author had me turning the pages right from the start. Some of it was edge of my seat reading especially after we got further along from the introduction of the characters. Action and suspense in one well written package.
Found the story a bit slow to begin with and by the end was annoyed that it finished where it did. Interesting characters and once the action started, I got more invested.
Wow! I’m so glad I gave this author another chance. The plot was intriguing. I was hooked from the very beginning. I couldn’t put it down until I finished. I loved the characters. They were well developed. Twist and turns kept me captivated. I can wait for book 2!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
