Her Way with Words is Brianna Renae's debut poetry collection…Her Way with Words is far from your typical poetry collection. Her Way with Words uses poems, short stories, and letters to navigate the reader through the unique intersection of a chronically ill Black woman living in Portland, Oregon. In this collection Brianna Renae explores themes of identity, vulnerability, activism, and so much more.
Her Way With Words is like a tiny touch of magic. Oh how Brianna performs on the page is magic. Not to be confused though, this is not the performance of a character, or caricature. This is a body in motion. This is interpretation and soulful dancing.
I will never live the same life as Brianna, and yet, I found myself relating to her, to her words, to the way she played with them, as if they were the intimate diary of a close loved one or friend. So personal, so powerful, and so, so relatable.
There are way too many poems that struck chords, resonating deep within me. However I will briefly compile a list of 5-6 below. I would argue that these provide a great, albeit limited, glimpse into the force that is Brianna.

Overall 10s across the board. Loved it. Love Brianna's energy and spirit. Can't wait for more of her written work.
