Vampire Tea Room Magical Mystery #6

Save the Last Dance for Tea: The Magical Tea Room Mysteries

Rate this book
Twenty-seven-year-old witch Minnie Wells is steeped in trouble.

It’s Jane Austen week and the fall streets of Bath, England, are bustling with women in gowns and men in tailcoats.

When Minnie, Fitz and the butlers from the tea room cater the big Regency style ball, Minnie - an Austen super fan– is looking forward to dancing the reel with her new vampire beau. Instead, one of the attendees–a famous hair care influencer–is murdered, and one of Minnie’s butler buddies is the prime suspect.

Now, Minnie teams up with a former flame detective and his vampire hunting partner, to clear her coworker's name and get to the bottom of the vampire blood mysteriously found in the victim’s system.

Of course, it’s no easy task, as Minnie’s magical powers grow frighteningly more powerful and the very coworker whose name she’s trying to clear is clearly harboring a secret. Plus, she’s working as a double agent--pretending to be a vampire hunter herself, while trying to protect her supernatural friends–and having trouble keeping her stories straight.

When Minnie’s sleuthing leads her to an exclusive med spa, helmed by an intimidating doctor with a penchant for off-the-menu services, she’s in over her head.

Will Minnie solve the influencer’s murder and clear her friend, or will she become the next victim, caught in a web of lies and magic gone wrong?

Another great book in this magical tea room series.
I love the characters in this series. The development of Fitz and Minnies relationship was one of my favourite parts of this book.
Minnie is very good at getting herself in the middle of tricky situations, namely murder mysteries.
I enjoyed getting to know Al better in this book and I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own

This is probably my least favorite in the series. While Fitz appears a lot early in the book, Gus is absent for the most part, and I enjoy him. The book begins with a Regency ball the Vampire Tea Room is catering, and Minnie and Fitz actually get a chance to dance. During the ball, Minnie meets an annoying social influencer. The next day, Minnie discovers the social influencer has been murdered, and two of the butlers at the Vampire Tea Room are likely suspects.

Of course, Minnie jumps in to investigate, but this time she's also asked to investigate it along with Detective Prescott and the vampire hunter. I don't like either Prescott or the vampire hunter, and they appear a lot throughout the book.

Along the way we learn more about the world Minnie lives in (aside from the "normal" Bath, England, and meet a few more magical beings.

I'll definitely read the next in the series, but hope there's less of the vampire hunter.

In this story, you are drawn into the wonderful era of Jane Austin with a wonderful ball. In true minnie style, she is center stage for a murder. Solving it brings her to many dark unknowns, even working with two men she really needs to hide her abilities from. The twists and turns bring excitement and nail biting moments, definite surprises, and a wee hint of romance growing, s-l-o-w-l-y!

This is the sixth book of a series that's become a cute addiction of sorts!
It's just fun to read, with the old world charm of the Victorian era combining with the conveniences of the contemporary age.

There is magic, Witches, vampires, familiars and mystery. One cozy mystery series that I love.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Save the Last Dance for Tea by Erin Johnson is Minnie's first time attending the Jane Austen's Regency Ball during Jane Austen Week.
Who could have killed the beauty influencer?
Minnie Wells
Minnie Wells is warped into another investigation which she is more than pleased to do when it concerns a friend. She wants to protect her friends who are also her coworkers. The reason for that is because she knows that they wouldn't hurt anyone. Minnie is a great person for figuring this out for the friend.  Sadly, she gets wrapped into doing the investigation with two people that she would rather not be near. She is doing better at her witchcraft, and is also trying to get her writing done as well. I do love Minnie as a person because she is a good person that is trying to live life as best as she can.
Save the Last Dance for Tea CRThe Mystery
Minnie Wells gets wrapped up in solving the investigation because of a coworker asking her to see if he is a suspect. She finds out that there is a paranormal aspect which gets back into the sights of DI Prescott and Kurt. Minnie is in their sights as they think she is only interested as she found out about the paranormal aspect first. She tries to keep her secrets on track while solving the mystery. I had an inkling of who could have done it, but I had no clue about the motive.
Five Stars
My rating for Save the Last Dance for Tea by Erin Johnson is five stars and I recommend it to anyone that wants to pop into the series. The great thing that I love about Ms. Johnson's books is that you don't have to start at the beginning of the series and can pop in whenever you want. This book is the same and it's a great read.

It's a perfect fall read that you can read with a good hot cup of whatever your favorite beverage is, and a nice blanket wrapped around you. I can't wait to read more from this series, and I wonder how all of this will pan out for Minnie.

Thanks to Darius and the council both Prescott and Kurt think Minnie is a vampire hunter. This will come into play in this book.

It's Jane Austin week in Bath and there are many folks walking around in costume and of course there will be a Ball. It brings the Regency era to the fore for the entire week.

The day of the ball, Cho gets excited at seeing a beautiful influencer. Tasha Melani, her mother and sister are enjoying sitting at one of Cho's tables.

As a proper cat mom, Minnie drops everything to go settle Tilda in her basket by the fire and give her a couple of scritches. That's when she overhears the question of why people are in costume. Cho ever the attentive butler answers her and adds that there is a Regency Ball tonight.

Tasha is interested but her mother insists they are way too busy with previous engagements that start early in the morning. With Tasha's interest Minnie chimes in that it's amazing and there's a shop nearby where she could rent a regency gown.

There was an awkward moment when Tasha leaves the table to go outside, and Cho doesn't immediately offer his arm to her mother when she's about to go to the powder room. Al quickly takes his place and Minnie and Cho both are stunned by the look on his face.

Fitz, the butlers and Minnie are working the Ball, and for Minnie it was everything she dreamed it would be. Tasha even shows up to Cho's delight.

It was a fun evening for all, and Cho was able to dance with Tasha and even walk her back to her hotel.

However, the next day everything takes a tragic turn. Cho calls Minnie to tell her Tasha is dead and he was called to the station to talk with DI Prescott. Now he'd like Minnie to find out if he is high on the suspect list.

Being the good friend she is, Minnie goes to talk to Prescott. She is surprised when Kurt is there with him and to find they were trying to contact her. While Tasha had died of respiratory failure from nicotine poisoning, there was also an unknown substance in her blood. That substance Kurt identified as vampire blood.

Of course, they are going to want Minnie's help and they are also going to be putting her in danger. Quite a bit more than she's been in before.

There are many twists and surprises in this one and it's quite the journey to solve this case.

I really love the way Minnie and Fitz's relationship is slowly moving forward.

I can't wait to read the next book!

Once you start this book, you can't put it down! Minnie, our main character, a witch just learning her powers, quietly, has been looking forward to Jane Austen week and the Regency Ball. And, she got her boyfriend Fritz's restaurant to cater it. The restaurant, The Butler Cafe, is a very proper restaurant following all types of old fashioned etiquette, with their butlers, AL and Cho and Minnie filling in when she can. Things were going great although she was keeping a very big secret from her boyfriend as well as keeping her boyfriend's secret, they were still a very close knit group. When a party came into the restaurant, Cho got excited since the party included the famous hair care internet influencer, Tasha, along with her disagreeable mother and her younger disinterested sister. When Tasha is murdered, DI Prescott wants Minnie to help solve the case since they found some unusual circumstances surrounding her death. Some vampire's blood mixed with an overdose of nicotine in her blood. Now we have the vampire hunter, Kurt, with Prescott looking to find the killer and kill the vampire. So, Minnie pretends to be a hunter too so she can manipulate the situation and keep her boyfriend and roommate and best friend, Gus, safe. And Prescott and Kurt want Minnie to go undercover to a "lab" of sorts which was the last place Tasha visited before her death. Add to that and Cho becomes a suspect and easy going AL gets secretive. How is Minnie going to solve it all and still maintain some secrecy for her and her boyfriend's safety. This book is incredible and I can't wait to see what could be in store for Minnie and crew next! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Save the Last Dance for Tea is the 6th book in the Magical Tea Room Mysteries and it combines my love of vampires, mysteries and tea perfectly!

Minnie Wells is excited for Jane Austen Week, a week to celebrate her favourite author. She'll be attending the Assembly Rooms in Bath for a ball, and hoping to catch a dance with her favourite vampire, Fitz. However, when an influencer is found dead the day after the ball, Minnie, along with ex-flame Detective Prescott, must investigate the crime and clear one of her co-workers and close friends.

I absolutely love the layers to this series. Full disclosure: I picked up this series after I finished Nancy Warren's Vampire Knitting Club mysteries. There is something about vampires and cozy mysteries that I love and I need more! This series has filled the void perfectly and is now one of my favourite paranormal mysteries.

Minnie is a witch, who has only discovered her powers since coming to Bath. She lives with her best friend and vampire, Gus, and is dating a vampire, Fitz, who is firmly stuck in the regency times. So much so that he runs a regency-inspired cafe. Doesn't it sound perfect? Within each story is many paranormal elements, and I love that each book has layered more paranormals and with that creating unique twists for the mysteries.

This mystery was particularly good as it involved an influencer, who isn't all that she appears to be. Add in a definite Vampire element and you've got a thrilling, wonderful tale. I stayed up late reading this one and I couldn't put it down!

This is the sixth book in the A Magical Tea Room Mystery by Erin Johnson. I have enjoyed this series set in Bath England. Minnie works marketing in a bath Tea room that is run as a regency tea room. It’s the time of year to honor Jane Austen and her time period.
Fitz, the tea room owner is in a good mood as he does not seem out od place during the festivities.

One of their patron winds up dead and a few tea room employees may be prime suspects. Minnie and her friends help the police investigate.

I enjoyed this story and it does not have to be read in succession. All of Erin’s stories are standalone but one can appreciate the characters more if read in order.

I believe, Fitz, Minnie, Al, Cho & Gus are becoming much closer and a family unit is well established. Can’t wait for the next installment.

I was given an advanced copy and am not required to leave a positive review. I chose to do so.

Book six of the series. Another cute/fun entry in the ongoing story of Minnie (witch) and Fitz (vampire). He runs the cutest tea room-the waiters dress like butlers as they serve and escort ladies to the 'facilities'. It's done in complete seriousness and is so much fun, I wish it were real. The background over the whole series is the city of Bath and Jane Austen with lots of little details that immerse the reader in the setting. In this story, Minnie has to team up with DI Prescott and a vampire hunter! yikes! as they try to solve the murder of a social media influencer. Tasha had major family and online enemies that clog up the investigation. There is also a creepy doctor, that could have been the entire book, so a bit of a wasted plot opportunity. But, the story flowed well, the characters were interesting and as usual a quick read that I enjoyed from Erin Johnson. Three stars.

There has been a murder and Minnie want or needs to solve it. A ball she attends and overhears a conversation, a butler friend of hers develops a crush on an influencer, who ends up dead, and Minnie who has to divert a vampire hunter away from her friends, what a mess she finds herself into. will she be able to keep her friends safe? Well I can tell you this, Ms. Johnson has done a fantastic job in writing this book. Another feather in her cap. I love this book and I highly recommend this book. But don't think I am going to say more than that. You will have to get the book. You will enjoy it. My favorite characters are Minnie and Tilda, her familiar. The plot is easy to follow and the characters are wholesome and full of life. Hope you enjoy this book as well as the series. Thank you.

It's so good that when it gets a few books into a series like this one that reading it becomes like catching up with friends you haven't seen for a while. Minnie is still working in the Butler Tea Rooms in the lovely city of Bath, practicing her witch skills, investigating another murder while trying to keep her vampire friends away from the vampire hunter who thinks she is on his side.
A couple of the butlers have their own secrets that they are keeping but can one of her friends be implicated in the murder of a beautiful influencer. Suspects abound with the jealous sister, money-hungry stylist, angry mother and the very suspicious doctor at the spa the victim frequents, Minnie has her work cut out to discover who had the most reason to kill.

Truly magical writing!

Such delightful storytelling; Minnie is juggling so many things! Effective investigator, ersatz vampire slayer, evolving witch, and earnest girlfriend; keeper of secrets (her own as well as everyone else's, apparently); and, the linchpin for a steadily expanding paranormal circle...how does she manage time for her actual career in marketing?

The mystery is skillfully presented and has a few touching elements added. The long-awaited couple is official, so, of course, a third and possible fourth problem is attempting to muddy the waters! All of the elements are believably interwoven; this reader is looking forward to answering another puzzler: Is Kurt really buying Minnie's alter-ego?!

Minnie is drawn into another investigation after Cho is suspect in the death of an influencer. Minnie decides to contact Prescott about what is going on. Minnie is surprised to find out about the paranormal aspect to the death. Minnie will decide to work with Prescott and Kurt to find out what happened. Minnie also finds out more about Al, that she was not expecting.

Minnie will be put into some interesting situations in this book. Minnie is also experiencing new occurrences with her magic. Minnie will have the help of her friends as she works out what happened. Minnie and Fitz are also becoming even closer as well. There are some interesting twists and turns.

This is a fun book to add to a fun series. Winnie and Fitz are getting closer. She's accepting his old-fashioned ways and he's giving her more latitude as a modern woman. A woman dies after attending the same Recency Ball as Winnie and the butlers. Prescott invites her to join with Kurt and him in hunting for the killer since vampire blood was found in the dead woman's system. Is the killer a member of her entourage or someone at the med spa she visited? And, who was tipping off the paparazzi? Did she have a secret that got her killed? All are good questions and you need to read the book to get the answers.

Another case solved.

Well, just a couple of things to note. Most people in business in the UK pay by automated credit. BACS or faster payments. Internet banking. They don't use cheques much because it takes a lot of admin and a longer time to clear. Mainly old people use cheques. I can see Fitz using cheques but not the people the cafe does business with.
People's names....no Tom, Dick or Harry, Jim or Dave. But that's just me. The American writers always use names that are more used to them.
OK that's done. I enjoyed the book but not 100%. Some cosy mysteries are better than others. Anyway onward to the next book.

Save the Last Dance for Tea by Erin Johnson is Book 6 in the Magical Tea Room Mysteries.
This is such a fantastic series!

This book was really exciting!!! It was so fun to read about Jane Austen Week in Bath and everyone in the dress of that time period.

There is a big Regency Ball and Fitz and Minne and staff are catering it.

There is a murder Minnie and the gang start investigating.

This was such a great mystery, with fun characters that I was so excited to revisit.

Highly recommend this fantastic story and the entire series, you won't be sorry!

Minnie has a big dilemma on her hands. It's a week she's been really l0oking forward to. It's Jane Austin Week in Bath and there are celebrations, dress up events, and a Regency Ball! But there's been a murder of a prominent online influencer. The autopsy shows vampire blood in her system. Minnie, unfortunately, manages to get caught up in the investigation. She's contacted by the real vampire hunter, Kurt, and local detective, Prescott for help with this case as they think that she's a vampire hunter too.
Her friend/roommate Gus and her vampire boyfriend Fitz are not too keen on the idea that she's being dragged into another dangerous investigation. And, there's just so many things that could go wrong for her. She needs to solve the case fast and protect her identity as a witch from Kurt and Prescott.
Loved this new book in the series. Although this is the 7th book, each book can also be read as a standalone. I really recommend that you read the whole series as it will add to your enjoyment and understanding of the supernatural aspects found in the Bath, England area. I think you'll enjoy this book just as much as I did!

Minnie is in heaven since its Jane Austen week in Bath and the Tea Room is in charge of catering the gala but she is neck deep in another murder investigation. A young influencer is dead and Minnie is asked to step in but she does so for personal reasons because one of the butlers may be involved and the victim was also found with vampire blood in her bloodstream. But the secrets that come to light make this an amazing read. The controlling mother, jealous sister, a butler with a huge secret, and a vampire hunter who is just a huge annoyance to everyone. Great read!

This is another winner. Erin Johnson is my favorite supernatural cozy author. As with all her books, this one has a great mystery and a little romance with wonderful characters. I think that's what sets her apart. You want to hang out with Minnie and Fitz and Gus and all the butler cafe boys. Not to mention Mim, and of course Tilda. Speaking of which, I'm a dog person all the way, but I want a black cat like Tilda. Add a wonderful setting brought to life by Erin with a little Regency thrown in & you have a perfect series.

Minnie and the gang are right in the middle again!

Another great addition to this wonderful series. Minnie, Fitz, and the butlers are catering a Jane Austen ball. A customer of the tea room and later the ball ends up dead. Foul play or just an accident? How did vampire blood get in the victims system and was one of the butlers involved? Prescott and the vampire hunter want Minnie to go undercover at a med spa to see what the spa is really doing. Can Minnie clear her friends, keep her own cover, keep her magic in check, and walk away alive?

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

In this latest book by Erin Johnson, we find ourselves back in Bath with Minnie and the crew. Attending a Regency Ball with Fitz seems like a dream come true. Unfortunately, the aftermath isn’t quite as fun. A visiting young social media influencer is found dead of nicotine poisoning but they also find traces of vampire blood in her body. Minnie gets pulled into the investigation by Prescott and Kurt, the vampire hunter, which makes her very nervous. Other employees of the tea house are mixed up in the investigation as suspects. There are lots of twists and turns in this plot and in the end, some surprising events. Minnie has learned to use her magic to much better effect in this book and it works to her advantage. These characters are fun to follow and I look forward to seeing where they go next!

So much to unpack

Minnie is once again helping a friend accused of murder. There were so many little side plots that added up to a intriguing mystery and tied everything together. Minnie is starting to accept her witch ways while Fitz is stepping out of his comfort zone. I loved Tiles snark and personality as well as her protective wats towards Minnie. I'm still wishy washy over Kurt but Prescott is starting to head towards creepy so I can't wait til that comes to a head.

Influential death

Tasha Melani media darling, haircare guru visits the cafe and then attends the Austen week ball, which Fitz is catering.

When later she's found dead and Cho, one of the waiters, is one of the last people to see her, he asks Minnie to help establish his innocence..

But Prescott is on the case along with the vampire hunter Alpenjager, and Minnie doesn't want to draw attention to her vampire friends.

Supernatural mystery delight

I base my ratings on my entertainment level and I was very entertained by this book. This whole series has made me smile and I truly enjoy reading about Minnie’s adventures. When vampire blood is found in the victim, Minnie must pretend to be a vampire hunter in order to work with Hunter Kurt and Detective Prescott to not only help solve the case, but continue to keep the men from discovering her witch powers and away from her vampire friends.

What an intense, exciting, and FUN mystery! So much happened in this book that I am still processing! By being who she is and embracing her witch powers, Minnie tends to make friends and connections even when she isn’t trying. I know some of them are ickier than others…like Kurt, the ‘vampire hunter’. I have my doubts about him. I loved reading this book!

They Just Keep Getting Better

It’s time to return to Bath, and spill some tea with my favorite witch, Minnie Wells. What I loved about this book was that Minnie is finally beginning to use her powers. Now, if she could just learn some defensive spells. Another must read from Erin Johnson, that you’ll not want to miss!

Great addition to a fun series!

This might be my favorite in the series so far. Minnie shows growth in her magic and relationships, the vampire hunter adds a great twist to the story and we learn more about some of Minnie’s coworkers. I really enjoyed diving deeper into the characters and the unfolding relationship between Minnie and Fitz. A fun, fast paced read.
