He’s just been made an earl but he can’t tell a soul…

Mr. Ralph Fitzroy is about to receive an entire earldom for good deeds done. The catch? He needs to perform one more. Go to the funeral of the Earl of Kinross and figure out if foul play is involved. Easy enough. Except for that from the first, one major complication is making the entire affair very difficult, Miss Clara Welby. Beautiful, vivacious, and promised to his lead suspect. She’s in his way at every turn and muddling his investigation and his senses. There’s only one thing to do. Use Clara and her connection to Kinross to his advantage.
Because only a fool would let desire stand in the way of an earldom.

Which is why, he will not succumb to the guilt niggling in his gut. Even if he were willing to sacrifice his future for love, the lies he’s told are piling up so high and so thick, how could a woman as perfect as Clara ever trust a man like him?

Mr. Ralph Fitzroy is surprised when he’s offered an earldom for good deeds done. There's just one catch, he needs to perform one more task. Go to the funeral of the Earl of Kinross and figure out if foul play is involved. Easy enough. He travels to the funeral with his half brother Wyatt, his new bride & her best friend Miss Clara Welby. Clara has been infatuated with Viscount Aslin, now the new Earl of Kinross for nearly a decade, he’s her brother Marcus' best friend, there's been an unspoken agreement between them.
The fifth book in this lovely series & I’m so glad Ralph finds his HEA as I fell for him in the previous book. A well written delightful read, which I devoured in a sitting. I loved the strong, rough around the edges Ralph who fell for Clara but couldn't believe that she felt the same. Clara thought her future was set, in a HEA with Aslin but then is confused by her attraction to Ralph. Then she meets Aslin again. A delicious read with secrets, highwaymen & an attraction, which sizzles. I loved it
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Will his mission and their differences stand between them …

I love this series as with it, the author explores different venues and plot possibilities.
Ralph is her usual soul scarred hero, a man with a harsh beginning but the spirit of a survivor.
He was introduced in the previous book as his half-brother pillar and retainer, the shadow of the street sentinel.
Now it is his turn to come out of the darkness with the offer of a lifetime. An earldom in exchange of the evidence of fool-play or not on one of the crown peers.
Clara for years has been infatuated with her brother’s friend, a man who has played hot and cold with her heart, but now he has inherited his sire’s title, it is the moment for her to decide if he still the man of her dreams.
They meet on their way to the man holding the key of her heart, but is he still the master of it when Clara becomes very aware of the silent strength and inner goodness Ralph hides to everyone with his statuesque proportions. Was it love or just a girl first heart’s turmoils when the organ is now wildly beating for another man.

Ralph Fitzroy is on a mission for the Queen. He is to investigate the death of the Earl of Kinross to determine if there was foul play, and if so, did his son have anything to do with it. If he succeeds, he is to become the Earl of Pembroke. He meets Clara Melby when she travels to the Earl’s estate with him, his brother, and sister-in-law. Meeting Clara changes Ralph’s conception that all aristocracy is vain and uncaring. She is smart, kind, and caring. She sees Ralph as honorable, selfless, and strong. Falling for each other is easy, making a go of it might be a bit harder. This is an interesting and enjoyable story. There is mystery, suspense, danger, romance, and a happy ending for a deserving hero. Wonderful story and great addition to the series.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC this book.

Lost. The Love of a Lord

Catches the Heart ❤️

Sometimes we read a book that is hard to write a review for, as this book would be one of the best emotional, heartwarming book I have read in quite some time.

Absolutely awesome this story of Mr. Ralph Fitzroy and Miss Clara Melby, ❤️❤️

Mr. Fitzroy is sent on a mission for the Queen, unable to tell most people he meets, what he is doing, except for the beautiful Miss. Melby who he has to actually hide the truth, yet each time he tells a lie to her he feels the guilt.

As stated very well written, the cast of characters all blend into the story.

Real page turner

Highly recommend

Lost: The Love of a Lord
Victorian Romantic Mystery
By Tammy Andresen

I have to be honest, I’ve kind of had a crush on Ralph Fitzroy since we met him and his half-brother Wyatt Highland, Viscount Ware in Vacancy: Viscount Preferred.
The two of them best of friends, Ralph still wanting to be behind the scenes when it came to Wyatt’s life and the fact Ralph was willing to give up his freedom if it mean Wyatt was free to be with his new wife.

Instead of having to explain why Ralph claimed to be the Bushy Hero (remember is was Wyatt and Ralph together) it turns out the Queens man didn’t want to see him to arrest him, but to ask him to find out if the recently passed Earl of Kinross had died of natural causes or did someone else play a hand in his death. He was also told if he found out what happened and could explain it to the Queen then he would be granted the title The Earl of Pembroke. Nice way to get a title, but to Ralph, he wasn’t sure he wanted it. He didn’t like the Ton, he didn’t think much of many of the Lords or Ladies he’d had reason to meet, and so did he want the title? He decided he’d think about it while investigating for the Queen.

Miss Clara Melby was probably one of the sweetest nicest young ladies in London. Always helping, always caring for others, always giving. One of the things she had given away was her heart. Ok that was quite awhile ago when she was13 years old when she gave her heart to her older brothers school friend Viscount Aslin. Aslin called her an angel, he’d talk to her, sometimes write to her but as the years went by and she only heard from Aslin now and again, she wondered should she be looking elsewhere for a husband.

A trip to attend the old Earl’s funeral brings Clara and Ralph together. It’s evident that if these two are made for each other, now they have to see it.

We have a secret investigation, a Miss who realizes she likes another man and a pretend group of highwaymen (which actually exist) are just a few of the things Ralph and Clara need to work around. But as kisses under the moonlight and soft touches send sparks to each other watching all the things that might be roadblocks seem to become things that bring them closer.

I so enjoyed this book, and Clara and Ralph are the perfect couple! Another five star read from this author.

Miss Clara Melby is the daughter of a baron and has been in love with her older brother's friend, Viscount Aslin, heir to the Earl of Kinross, since she was thirteen. That was eight years ago, and over the years she saw him a few times a year and one day when she was sixteen, he told her that he could 't marry her until his father died and he took over the earldom and she said she would wait for him. Well, the day has come, and she is on her way to the funeral of his father with her friend, Priscilla & her husband, Wyatt, Viscount Ware along with his supposed valet.

Mister Ralph Fitzroy is the bastard brother of Wyatt, Viscount Ware, and the other half of the Bushy Hero that stalked the night, saving innocent people from dastardly criminals. His brother recently married, and the Bushy Hero was forced to reveal his identity to prosecute a guilty Earl. Ralph insisted he was the one to be punished as the Bushy Hero, to protect his brother, who had just married. Now the Queen's dignitary had summoned him to the palace and Ralph thought he would be arrested but instead they want him to investigate the son of the Earl who just died - they need to know if he is guilty or innocent in his father's death.

Ralph and Clara's, several day trip was long and tedious but what started out bad in their meeting soon became amicable and enjoyable. After finally getting to the Kinross estate for the funeral, she is greeted by the love she has been waiting for but feels nothing other than friendship. The investigation, growing romance, and a lot of obstacles that seem to be placed in their path to a HEA, finally with a lot of help from their friends, they succeeded. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

FANTASTIC!!! Lost: The Love of a Lord by Tammy Andresen is book 5 in the Calling all Rakes series and though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read the full series to learn all the characters and their stories. I think Lost: The Lord of Love has been my favorite so far in this series. Ralph and Clara’s romance was so innocent, charming and a slow burn. Also this is a bit of a mystery to this book as Ralph is sent to investigate if a Earl committed murder or not by the Queen. It made quite an exciting story. Tammy is one of my all time favorite authors and I know that when I get one of her new releases I am just going to love it… She never disappoints me. I found this book to be very well written, wonderful characters, vivid descriptions, original and just a delight to read. Tammy is just such an incredible author and I cannot say enough about this book. This story has a Lady that is in love with her brother’s best friend, an evangelist, wanting to protect, the Bushy Man (read this book to understand), highwaymen, a funereal, needing to be there for support, an ill mother, long coach rides in silence, lies, trying to find out the truth, good friends, an Earl that is self-absorbed, a commission that is too good to past up, wanting to be better than they think they are and falling in love. I am so highly recommending you read this book. As I said… It is FANTASTIC!!!

***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

This is a wonderful new addition to the Calling All Rakes series by Tammy Andresen.
Clara Melby has been in love with her brothers best friend since she was a young girl. He promises to marry her but only after his father dies. That time has arrived. Recently, she has bee facinated by the stories of the Bushy Hero. She fancies herself meeting this hero of a man and they would be attracted to each other. She travels with her good friend Priscilla and her husband Wyatt, Viscount Ware and his valet Ralph Fitzroy to the funeral of the Earl of Kinross to be a support to Aslin (now the new Earl of Kinross). Once she get there and spends a little time with the new Earl, She's not too sure he's the one for her after all.
Ralph has been offered an earldom by the queen. There's just one tiny catch tho. He has to complete a mission for her first. He is to find out if the Earl of Kinross was murdered and if his son, Aslin (the new Earl) was involved. Ralph is actually a half brother to Viscount ware who, with him, is the Bushy Hero. Ralph is a protector and saves Clara a couple times. He falls for Clara but knows she's way out of his league. If he can only solve this crime, he could become an earl and be good enough for her.
There's danger, mystery, suspense, romance, love, highway man, sick mother, road trip, finding the truth, lies, good friends and supportive brothers.
I received this book as an ARC. This is my honest and true review.

Clara Welby has worn her heart on her sleeve for Viscount Aslin ever since she was thirteen years of age. He made promises to her, and then kept his distance. When the impossible happens, Clara thinks that she will eventually receive her reward for staying true to the course, but upon meeting Aslin again after he takes up the mantle of Earl of Kinross, she has second thoughts. Definitely, Ralph Fitzroy is muddying the waters. Ralph is a huge beast of a man, but despite his size, he is gentle and considerate towards Clara and she finds that status and title no longer hold any appeal for her. Tasked by Royal decree to investigate the late Earl's death, Ralph cannot reveal his true purpose for attending the funeral together with his brother and Clara, but the more time he spends in her presence, the more he comes to the understanding that he can no longer paint all members of the nobility with the same brush. The novel is a fairly quick read and is mildly suspenseful, but also romantic as the attraction between Ralph and Clara overtakes any feelings she may previously have had for Aslin. Ralph also discovers that he has friends in the nobility who are prepared to stand with him and demand that he receives the recognition he deserves. The novel is a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this romance as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Another great book in the series another great book by Tammy Andresen. This book has Ralph, who is the brother of the hero in the previous book. Ralph is illegitimate. He is on a mission for the Queen and if he completes the mission, he will become an Earl. Clara is a sweet lady, who has been in love with her brother’s friend since she was young. She travels to the funeral of her crush with Ralph, his brother and sister-in-law. There Ralph and Clara get to know each other. Ralph protects and saves Clara a few times, this is the type of man he is, he protects people he cares for. Clara now has doubt about her crush and the feelings she feels for Ralph, especially once she realizes he lied to her. I really enjoyed this book, and I enjoyed Ralph and Clara together.
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest opinion.

GOOD WINS

This story was about how genuinely good people are ultimately rewarded. Ralph spent his life looking after his brother and anyone he cared about. When he met Clara, he experienced someone other than his brother trying to help him. They both fell in love and realized what it felt like to be treasured. Once they received their blessing from her family, Ralph realized that he won the greatest gift because he finally found a family and a great group of supportive friends that were all willing to fight for him to receive his title. Luckily, it wasn’t necessary because the queen kept her work and made him an Earl so everyone got their happily ever after.

I loved Ralph when we first met him while protecting his brother. He has hated the titled, especially his father, all of his life. Ironically, Ralph is faced with a secret mission for the Queen and the reward of the dreaded title. Something he is not sure he really wants but he has no option but to obey the dictate of the Queen. Miss Clara Welby has had a crush on her brother’s friend, Viscount Aslin for years. I enjoyed Clara and was glad to see she figured out her dreams were of a girl, not a woman. These two are so good together and I loved every minute of their story.

A great read!

I enjoyed reading about Clara and Ralph, how they met to how they fell in love. He was part of the Bushy Hero, which his brother was the other half, helped with crime in the bad part of town putting them either in prison or transported. He had a job to do that may get him a title from the queen all he had to do was find out if the new Earl of Kinross was guilty or innocent of killing his father, which he did find out. He fell for Clara hard and wanted to protect her, which he did multiple times. I highly recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤

An entertaining with a well written story and characters. Ralph was a rough around the edges hero who was protective and just what Clara wanted. Status is not important to her but someone to accept and just love her is all she wants. The usual mystery and adventure ensues. I was a little surprised Ralph's conclusions were just accepted without any proof though. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Clara and Ralph’s story is unique in that Ralph is a bastard son - but he is also the Bushy Hero. He is a protector through and through - especially for those he cares about. But starting a relationship with lies is never good. Clara and Ralph’s future is not certain, by any means!

I received a free copy of this book from the author. The thoughts and opinions of my own.

He is on a mission from the Queen to investigate the death of Earl so that he can earn a title himself.

What he does not expect is to meet Clara, and find himself falling for her, despite his previous thoughts of the nobility.

Suspense, mystery and romance that is slow building but well worth the wait as Tammy weaves her amazing addition to this great series!

One earl is weak, the other strong...

He told her to wait until she was older so they could marry. And she waited until he inherited the title. But then this valet or bodyguard came along to protect her friends husband. She wonders who he really is.. And she begins to suspect him and more. Nice story

sensitive and emotional story

Not what I was expecting. The story is sweetly sentimental with some angst. It reads easily and quickly and both h/h are extremely likable. There are no real villains but a possible villain. Clara and Ralph’s personalities are pretty much the same. Kinross is interesting. It’s an enjoyable read.

Another great book by Tammy Andersen. She manages to makes her characters so realistic and ensure that you are right there with them. You get so involved that you're sitting right beside them.
