Over 100 years ago, Eugenia and Thomas Burnett started the Burnett Ranch, turning it into one of the most profitable and most lucrative in all of Texas. And Eugenia Burnett’s ghost has continued her interest in the ranch with her matchmaking skills. Now the matchmaking ghost has chosen to help Tanner Burnett, the soldier troubled by PTSD. When she talks to him for the first time, he assumes this is just another symptom of his stressful problems. But she has determined that he and the new cook, Emily, who came to the ranch for a new start, will be exactly what each of them needs, once she can get them past their fear of commitment. Emily knows all about PTSD, and she won’t shy away from helping Tanner deal with his demons.
Their beginning is a little shaky, however. On her way to her new job, Emily enjoys a one-night stand with a man she meets. How will that impact her meeting her new boss – the man she has already slept with! Once again, Eugenia will have her ghostly work cut out for her trying to get these two to fall in love. So grab your copy and see if her matchmaking will prevail!
The Burnett family ghost strikes again, but this time Tanner Burnett and the new cook, Emily Young meet by chance spending one fabulous night together, before they get to the ranch only then to discover who each other really are. Tanner was none to happy to learn Emily was the new cook for the Dude Ranch, and he tried everything to get her to leave, but Emily had moved to Texas from Colorado for a new life after the death of her husband who had died in Iraq. She knew all about dealing with a soldier with PDST. The only thing new to her was the ghost, Eugenia, but she had been through far to much for a ghost to get the better of her. Emily certainly knew how to handle Tanner during his episodes which the family never had been able to help him with. Aunt Rose, the head of the family did not like Tanner's involvement with Emily, because she was afraid of the repercussions to the Dude Ranch or better yet she was just a sour old spinster. Never fear Grandmother Eugenia promised to take care of her. Would Eugenia win in her plotting this time around? She sure went to great lengths in her attempts in getting these two together. A wonderfully written, fast reading story that will keep you on pins and needles waiting to see what will happen next.

....the person you love has to be willing and able to accept that love' Tanner is running scared, but the fear feeds his PTSD, which in turn makes his fear worse. Your heart beaks for Tanner as he has returned from service a shell of the man he was, he is desperate to begin living and loving again but is petrified his flashbacks will harm a guest, family member or girlfriend. He is so alone in trying to deal with this because as much as his family want to help and be supportive, they are not living it and cannot relate. Unfortunately for Emily she understands too well, she is running from the ghosts and memories of her husband only to fall for Tanner. She is terrified of risking her heart again but helpless to stop herself falling, especially when she is the only one who can reach him. Between the matchmaking ghost and their traitorous hearts they don't stand a chance....but that doesn't mean they will go easily...they fight it tooth and nail every step of the way! We know Burnett's do everything the hard way, fortunately for us that makes each and every journey to HEA and entertaining one and Tanner is no exception. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Sylvia has done it again. This book is so good. The chemistry between Tanner and Emily is something else. It is wonderful to read a book that includes a war veteran with PTSD and some of the challenges they face. With so many young men and women in America experiencing this, I think this is helpful. Having said that, this book is not aimed at fixing that problem, but does slightly address it and that is all that is needed for this book.
The matchmaking great-great-great-great grandmother ghost strikes again! It is so funny how she works to put Tanner and Emily together in different situations. The characters are sweet and vulnerable and you cannot help but cheer them on. The ghost is quite ingenious. I can’t wait to read the next in this series to see what happens next. I highly recommend reading every book in this series. They are well worth the time!
A*R*C for honest review with no compensation Received from BookSprout
Tanner is book 6 in the Burnett Brides series by Sylvia McDaniel which started out as historical romances with a matchmaking ghost named Eugenia who now many years later is back again to see her great, great, great, great grandsons Travis, Tanner and Tucker continue the legacy in these contemporary romances.
Up next is Tanner and Emily’s story…PTSD, a widow needing a fresh start, both thinking never to marry for various reasons, steamy, one night stand that ends up being her new boss at her new job…keep reading to see what Eugenia is up to next…
Emily is having a break at a hotel before starting her new job as a chef on a ranch. Tanner has been to see the doctor about his PTSD, stopping at the hotel overnight, on his way home. Imagine their surprise when they meet at the ranch! Tanner thinks she's followed him, difficult as he'd given a false name, and she'd used her maiden name! Then Eugenia, the matchmaking ghost, makes an appearance, Tanner thinks he's having one of his episodes but the smells are all wrong. Can Eugenia set them up together? Will Tanner let someone help him with his PTSD?

Eugenia Burnett, aka the matchmaking ghost, has now turned her sights on Tanner. She has decided the war weary soldier and the new cook, Emily, are perfect for each other. Unfortunately for her both Tanner and Emily are wary of commitment. But they will soon find out no one will stand in the way of Eugenia. NO ONE. This book was a quick read and a great way to spend a afternoon. It was nice to met the newest generation of the Burnett family. Thank you to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
A wonderful story with Tanner, a man suffering from PTSD, and Emily, the widow that has been hired as the new cook for the family ranch. But let's not forget the precocious Grandma Eugenia, who is the resident ghost and wants members of her family to find their forever loves. Their story is an enjoyable and heartwarming read as Grandma Eugenia works to help Tanner and Emily find their HEA. **I was gifted "Tanner" via the author, leaving my review based on my reading.** 5 stars!
The sixth book in the Burnett Brides series, another great story. This time it is Tanner Burnett and widow Emily Young's story with matchmaking Eugenia Burnett’s ghost in their lifes. The story was fun to read and kept me turning pages I had to know what she would do next. When this series is finished I want to read it again from the start. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a great story about Tanner and Emily. Emily was to start a new job at the Burnett Dude Ranch as theirs Chef. She had stopped at this hotel, a couple of hours away from the ranch. There she met Tanner, at the pool. They had dinner and a serious night of sex. Leaving the next morning, she had no idea who would greet her later that day, but Tanner. Wow! Was he shocked. Enjoy their new beginning
Well that was a most interesting story to say the least. A matchmaking ghost, who would have thought a ghost could be such a menace, and cause so much mischie (even in my dreams, although my dream ghost or I should say ghosts, were of the twin nature.) I love how Emily was so good at controlling Tanner's PTSD episodes and the intense passion they had after. Very enjoyable reading.
Talk about a fast start! Tanner and Emily met and it took off from page one! It was one emotional roller coaster and add a hilarious ghost this story had some unexpected surprises. It was a special surprise of a romance. I always appreciate the outside the box romance that can still have some fire. Book gifted to me.
Another great effort by ghost matchmaker Grandma Eugenia. She wants her grandson Tanner to find his happy ever after mate so she sets out to match him with ranch chef Emily. Well written with great characters and just a little bit of magic.

this was another story entry in the Burnett Brides series. I thought it was a unique take on a western romance. I enjoyed the characters and the world they were in. I also enjoyed that this has some supernatural elements.

Tanner suffering with PTSD has him thinking that love and family isn't possible for him, but meeting Emily then having her work at his family business has him wanting more. Finding love with a good woman will help him through those tough times.
This book brought out all the feelings and was a very enjoyable read.
When a book keeps my interest and he!ps me to escape for awhile then I know its a good book. The storyline of an veteran with PTSD was something different that brought awareness to the issue , which is a good thing. Can't wait to read the next one! Thanks Sylvia!
