Cinders In Midnight Glass #4

After Midnight Strikes

Rate this book
Midnight struck, the clock ran down, and Tristan knows who Cinder really is.

The last war killed her parents, and this war ripped away the man she loves. Now, she returns herself to the shadows, her life spared only by her reputation as a battle-tested hero.

If there were time to feel, Cinder would undoubtedly drown in grief over lost lives and love, but there is no room for mourning when pinched between the dual threats of the Corvids and her very own brother, Duke Ash.

Tristan can’t stand the sight of Cinder after finding out that she originally meant to assassinate him. But he also can’t look away from her.

Amidst a perfect storm of kingdom-ending perils, Cinder and Tristan are forced to shove their feelings aside and fight as one to save the orphans of Shield House.

Can they swallow their feelings long enough to prevent the children from becoming the next tragic casualties of this war? And if they can save the kids, will they have any time left to try and save themselves?

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

First, thank you to the Ukrainian cover art designers. Amazing.

I loved hearing two points of view between Tristan and Cinder. I know this is a big debate in the world of books. I rarely read single Point of View until I entered the world of Shifters, Paranormal, Vampire, Dragon, etc. I had almost always read about the characters, not so much from the point of view. Or it didn't matter. But getting into Tristan's head has been incredibly useful especially since the reveal in the cells with Brix and his belief of Cinder.

Now, with the children missing, her brother sure to be behind it, how can Cinder convince Tristan she doesn't want to kill him and save the Shield House children while avoiding her brother's cronies flying under his flag.

I really appreciate the lengths of these books. I can read them in a sitting or break it up into two days. And yet I savor them after and keep going back to the books. Thank you, Everly, for continuing to write these books.

Ive got 1 word! WOW and where is the next book.

I cant get over how amazing this book is okey it made me want to punch the walls and sometimes even Tristan & Cinder but holy pancakes did i enjoy this.

The true dept of duke twaffles betrayal is slowly taking form and my dislike of him keeps growing by the chapter, i truely do not like him nor what he is trying to do.

I was at times a bit annoyed at Tristan & Cinder, i just kept thinking.. talk to each other just talk i even yelled that a few times at my tablet it didnt work hehe they were stil acting as idiots.

My emotions was all over the place but the most ive felt was happiness over how they went about the journey and what they had to overcome. I am happy to say i love love love this book and can not wait for the next book!

Go start this series its worth the pain!

Great continuation of the series filled with shocks, suprises, and our favourite characters.

*Spoilers for previous books*
After the ending of Heart of Midnight I was absolutely terrified for how this book will go, however the interactions between Tristan and Cinder stayed very to character, and the new dynamic of their relationship was really interesting to read. As the plot progresses we learn more about Ash’s plans and dive deeper into the progressing war, learning more along the way. The writing was great, easy to read and very enjoyable.

Now the reason it looses a star is because it felt compared to the others very repetitive, a solid half of the book could’ve been cut down on if characters just sat down and had a conversation, it felt like it kept on dragging on. However outside of that the plot was great.

Cannot wait for the adventure to continue!

Another really good installment for this series, but maybe just not my favorite. I still love Cinder and Tristan's romance story and the plot direction we were going from where we left on in book 3. Where it fell a bit short for me was the sudden flip in emotions halfway through the book. Also, I know this book was more focused on Tristan and Cinder, but I kind of missed the banter between Gus and Jaq. Also would love more of Rath - he seems fun.

I'm still very eager to read the next books and see where this goes. I felt like this book is a little more of a build up to the larger fight we'll see with Ash.

After midnight strikes picks up immediately after the last page of the previous book. I loved this volume. I had so many expectations for it and it was a real rollercoaster of emotions! The frustrations and the bliss! All of those were just superb.

Plot-wise, the pace is still a bit slow but the romance is great. Cinder and Tristan are sure frustrating but I really like them together.

If I had to give a minor criticism it would be that this time again the end of the novel comes very abruptly. Lately it felt more like one book being cut off haphazardly to make several volumes.

I can't wait for September and the last volume of the series (I think).

Cinder follows King Tristan as he seeks to unravel her brother's plots to take over the kingdom. At the same time, she battles Tristan's mistrust and anger over her original plans to assassinate him. The story is a great continuation to the series, but there is a much more somber atmosphere as war approaches. It is well written and action packed. The plot was very much focused on Cinder and Tristan, but I would have liked to see more interaction from our favourite side characters such as Gus and Jacqueline, and a few lighter moments in the tale. 4/5 stars

Have you ever read a series and as the series goes on it gets worse? That does not happen with Cinder in the Midnight series. This book picks up perfectly from where the last one left off and it is epic from start to finish. So far my favorite in the series, the characters are just so well fleshed out, and watching them grow is so wonderful, I can not wait for September.

I love how J. Darleen Everly writes about the characters and world she created- and I absolutely love Cinder, Tristan and the world they live in. Can’t really say much more as it would likely include spoilers. But if you love strong women, fierce warriors and deep loyalty coupled with mistery and some magic, this series is it for you!

Now I just have to survive until the sequel!

This was an exciting continuation of Cinder and Tristan's story where they set off on a difficult journey to save orphaned children who have been kidnapped. Tristan finds it hard to trust Cinder after he learns of her treachery and lies. I received a free copy of the book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Another great entry in the Cinders In Midnight Glass series. It had what I enjoyed from the previous entries. The story was so well done and I was hooked from beginning to end.

First, I want to say thank you to the author and BookSirens for allowing me to review this ARC with honesty.

I can't say too much since this is serial book and I don't want to give away any spoilers. That being said, this was yet another hit for me. I especially liked how the author was able to almost give me a new experience with the characters after certain knowledge was found out. Cinder, snarky yet hurt, deadly yet vulnerable was an interesting contrast throughout the majority of the book.

Highly recommend for anyone looking to read a dark fantasy of politics and intrigue to read this. To top it off, it's a retelling of a famous fairy tale with a whole lot of twists and turns.

My Rating: 4 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I received an advanced reader copy for free (thank you BookSirens), and voluntarily (and happily) make this review.

Like it’s last predecessor, this book was another emotional rollercoaster filled with revelations. I devoured it. I wanted to scream the whole time, sometimes from frustration, sometimes from shock, and other times from delight!

I read this whole book in a day and now don’t know what to read until the next installment comes out (hello, book-hangover)…

J Darlene Everley is immensely talented and I am loving this series!
