Discover the remarkable life of Princess Diana... Free BONUS Inside!
Princess Diana had a whirlwind of a life, or in the words of Sir Elton John, she “lived her life like a candle in the wind.” After her marriage to Prince Charles, she became not just a princess but a global icon. Diana could draw crowds by the thousands, but despite her rising popularity, she couldn’t keep her marriage together.
Nevertheless, even once cut free from the rest of the royal family, she went on to accomplish so much; she founded charities, gave voice to the voiceless, and touched hearts wherever she went. Not many have had the kind of life that Princess Diana led, but to be sure, this was no fairy tale with a happy ending. This book tells the tragic story of the life of Princess Diana, from beginning to end.

I love Princess Diana and I really enjoyed reading this book.
It’s a fantastic novel, short.. but has a lot of information about her personal life, I would highly recommend this short easy read if you want to learn about any of the royals. 5 stars ⭐️
It was a little over a week til my 6th birthday as I sat on the couch in our tiny living room and watched Lady Diana Spencer become Princess Diana of Wales. I, like so many other young girls at the time, was in awe of the beautiful young woman who walked down the lengthy aisle with her mile long train and gorgeous, poofy dress.
It was the day after my oldest son's birthday when Diana, now known as the People's Princess, tragically passed away in a car accident because of her drunk chauffeur and the incessant throng of paparazzi that relentlessly followed her everywhere she went.
I don't care what the official inquest says, the paparazzi were just as at fault as Henri Paul. I always felt so sad for Dodi Fayed's father as he fought so hard to make the paps responsible.
This was a short, what I consider fair biography about Princess Diana that left out most of the salacious gossip about her and kept to as much of the facts as possible. Don't get me wrong, there is gossip about those she knowingly had affairs with and even some about the man she supposedly wanted to marry not long after her divorce from Charles.
My heart still goes out to Princes William and Harry. They were so young when she died and the paparazzi are even more vicious about their lives than they were Princess Diana's. In my opinion, that is.
A true princess. Diana’s, albeit brief, life’s is well described in this Hourly History. I’m certain the writer could have included so much more, but from this rendering we learn a great deal. Beautiful lady whose life was not all about a fairytale but of human tragedy snd the ability to bounce back. As Sir Elton John wrote her life was like “a candle in the wind”.
This book is so amazingly beautiful. I just wish it had told the timeline of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed more. It also let out an important part. The author never mentioned anything about Princess Diana saying approximately a month before her tragic accident that she thought the royal family was going to kill her in a car accident. Other than that it's a very good short read for any Princess Diana lover like myself
Diana's insecurity stemmed from the death of the Spencer's third child, a boy. When she was born, the couple was hoping for a son to replace the one who died soon after birth. Later, the couple did have a son, Charles. However, at six years of age, Diana's parents separated. By the time of the divorce, John Spencer got the children because Frances (their mother) married her lover one month after the divorce was finalized. The tumult affected the children, but Diana went to boarding school at nine. Eventually, John Spencer remarried; the new wife was not popular with the children.
The rumor that Harry was James Hewitt's son was squashed by the timeline given in this book. Otherwise, there wasn't much info that wasn't already widely known. I would have thought that Charles' poor treatment of Diana and long-term affair with Camilla would have prevented him from rising to the position of king.
Dodi Fayed's father's claims were not mentioned in this story. This retelling seemed to be average.
Hourly History specializes in concisely packaged books about topics of interest that information a reader of everything publicly known on the subject without controversy, and this one is no different.
If one had watched the wedding, been concerned about her accident and shocked by the death of one so young, and then watched the funeral, there isn't much here except its all there in a capsule - and without any photograph other than one on the cover.
This was a very odd choice for me to read for a couple of reasons:
1) I don't normally enjoy the gossip magazine type of stories. 2) I don't follow the modern English royal family - I find them to be annoying. 3) I don't really follow the English royal family in the history books, either.
Here's how we got here. Hourly History offers several free e-books every weekend and I picked up the book on Princess Diana for some unknown reason. And, six months later I accidentally picked the Princess Diana book with my fat thumb while using my e-reader app on my phone. I could have removed the download, but I decided to just go with it. Turns out, this was a happy accident.
I am not going to go over Diana's life story in this review. I will just say that this rather short biography (the publisher intends that its books take about an hour to read) was interesting and pleasant to read. A lot of it was information I remember just from being alive when all of this story was going on, but it was well-written.
Maybe I’m too much of a fan of princess Diana but this book in my opinion does not reflect the person and all the good she brought into the world via charity. It made it seem like all her volunteer work was efforts for self praise and so people would favor her after her failing marriage. It’s almost like someone who did not like her wrote this book and I could read right through the bias nature.
Princess Diana passed away tragically in 1997 and the outpouring of grief from people all over the world shows how much she was loved and admired.
This concise book does an excellent job covering all the important phases of her life - her upbringing, marriage to Prince Charles, the affairs and her many charitable causes. I enjoyed reading about her transformation from a somewhat insecure young girl to someone who used her celebrity to raise awareness for important causes.
It was decent. The Kindle formatting was a bit weird with half a page being empty of text and the next page finishes the paragraph before also having half the page being empty of text. The chapters are very short; the author summarized each aspect of her life, which I don't like because she deserves more than that. Definitely could've been written better. It wasn't too terrible, at least. I didn't learn anything new.
Of all these Hourly History books I've read (well over a hundred) this is one of the best written books. The text flows well and you get all of the most important details about Diana's life in this short book. You read it in an hour and get a lot if you haven't already heard about all of it before.
PRINCESS DIANA A Life from Beginning to End is an extremely touching and emotional read for me. I, like most people, loved her so much. This book followed her life from being an unwanted disappointment to her parents all the way through being the same for Prince Charles. I did not realize that their age gap was so huge. When they met she was 16 and he was 29.
A pretty fair, straightforward account of Diana's life, marriage, divorce and tragic death. Sometimes these type stories can be one-sided but this one seems to strive to fairly show no-one was exactly innocent in all this [no matter who you are, sin will ruin your life]]. Not a fairy tale life but no life is a fairy tale.
So many good things she did. I know she will always be remembered. One thing is for sure she loved her children more than ever. I really enjoyed this biography.
Loved Diana and this book quickly added detail to its readers’ knowledge. I would have enjoyed more of her life with her boys but this was great in the story it told.
Princess Diana is my favorite royal of all and has always been a mystery to me, but this book helps me get to know her more. I don’t think this book did her justice tho.
Garnished with beauty and armed with a passion that would not leave the world the same, Princess Diana, touched many lives. One thing that stood out was the love she showed to the dying world. When the whole world was avoiding AIDS victims due to fear of contracting the disease, the lovely Princess would not let them go without a warm embrace. This book deserves a 4 star due to its ability to draw out unique strengths of the Princess, who amidst harsh criticisms, stood out as a candle in the wind.
