I don't normally like coming into a series this far in without having read the first books. But this was a free audiobook, so I decided to give it a whirl. The mystery was good, and I liked the interplay between the two detectives. They have a history, so it will be nice to go back and see how that developed.
Typical MB plot with no disappointment in the end. If read after a especially involved or gory tale this provides a break — like taking a long deep breath before getting into the roller coaster of another book adventure.
Actually, the storyline was pretty good… a serial killer was on the loose and there were lots of suspects. It takes place in Nova Scotia, lots of people are involved in the case and, of course there are lots of twists and turns…. What I really couldn’t get past in this audiobook is the narrator. Her voice just didn’t fit the part (More like an Australian accent?) and she had to play several different characters. Overall, I liked the story, but it probably would have been better to physically read it.
Katie and Leblanc are searching for a killer in the remote islands of Nova Scotia who is bright and is not afraid of being caught. They are under heavy pressure from their boss and the governor because the tourist season has just begun but the bodies keep on piling up. None of the leads enable them to find the culprit, so Katie makes a strong move that might give positive results. At the same time all of these is going on, the pair of agents have to work on their relationship as Leblanc might be going to Paris, which, when he told Katie, left her more than mad! A good story, with some repetition of information that could be avoided, better proofreading also needs to be done. Good entertainment for a few hours. I received a free copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion.
Okay book, but kind of far fetched. A cross the border task force between the U.S. and Canada of FBI and RCMP. Katie Winters lives in Sault St Marie but is called in for a case in Nova Scotia, that’s a pretty large area to cover. Tourists are disappearing but a couple of the are being found dead. There’s a serial killer who is stepping up the frequency of his kills and Katie Winter and her partner LeBlanc are tasked with finding out who the killer is and stopping him.
Katie and Leblanc are tracking a killer in remote Nova Scotia. The killer is a local nobody suspects but he’s targeting tourists and that’s bad for the economy. Katie and Leblanc hit a rough patch in their partnership but by the end of things he realized that he needs to be her backup. Poor Katie goes off on her own and it’s lucky Leblanc got her text and charges to the rescue.

Katie and Leblanc are searching for a serial killer, who goes after tourists, in the remote area s of Nova Scotia. Can they find him before another tourist is murdered? Really enjoyed this newest installment of the series. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
My husband and I enjoy a good Molly black audiobook driving down the road. This is our second or third and we are getting addicted which I suppose is a good thing. I like how this book discussed Nova Scotia and Halifax and police efforts and the complicated problems that happen in a remote area.
Not sure why I keep listening to these books. Characters actions are quite unbelievable at times. Police procedures are very unbelievable at times. But these are fiction....
Low end of 3 stars. The narration with the overblown accents didn't help. I appreciate Chirp offering this for free, but I will not be buying any others in the series.
Well another great book read! I enjoy reading Molly Black books and this is no exception. Highly recommended. Now I look forward to reading #7 which will come out later this month.
