The Devastation You Reap

Rate this book
USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling author Tracy Lorraine brings you a new dark bully college romance within her Maddison Kings world.

For years I've kept my secrets.

Kept the darkest, most twisted parts of myself buried from everyone around me.

My need to destroy those responsible for tainting my life, ruining the person I was, the person I could've been, burns hotter with every passing day.

And when I finally get the chance to confront one and unleash the monster he turned me into, I walk straight into the other.

The one who haunts my nightmares.

The girl who torments me relentlessly.

The angel who could have saved me... but damned me instead.

It's my turn to use her. As bait.

Instead of leading me to destruction, this time she's leading me to the source of my torture.

She might not remember me from all those years ago, but one thing is for sure, by the time I'm done, she won't be able to forget who I am.

Once and for all she will understand the pain she caused.

Because one way or another, I'm going to reap devastation on those who wronged me.

Starting with Macie.

Dear Reader,
TDYR is the sixth book in my Maddison Kings University series and the first book in Leon's duet. It's a dark bully romance that contains mature content and demanding alphaholes that some readers may find disturbing. You have been warned.

Bullying Gone Too Far

3.5 stars - I'm really not onboard with a twenty-one year old holding a decade's long grudge against a girl who was only eight at the time. She was barely able to protect herself and had no-one to turn to with what happened.

I'll read the next book to see where this lands but I'm honestly struggling with this book. Leon has been a broken soul since the first book in this series but I went from loving him to hating him. Sure, what happened in the past, which I've long suspected, was terrible but that doesn't excuse his actions against Macie.

Macie, on the other hand, is sweet, shy, and been dealt a crap hand. I know Tracy usually ensures a good HEA and Macie deserves it... With someone else.

I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. Wow omg I'm honestly speechless here but I'm scared to give anything away. But I'll try my best. Leon has dark side we've seen it with Luca and now Leon. Although Leon hides it better. But i couid tell something is up with him and its not what I thought it first was. It's so much worse. Macie I like her but I need more of her story her past etc. I think Leon has got her all wrong but then again I could be wrong. Right now I feel for this girl but I also hurt for Lee more. U actually love Lee. And idk how he can come back from this.

Am I the only one who has a problem with this book? I guess so because I read all these reviews and everyone raves about it. Yes, It's well written, engaging (I read it in one day) but..Leon. I really loved him in the previous books of this series. In this book I HATE him. He took out all his anger on the poor girl instead of the man who hurt him. The girl who he thinks destroyed him because she didn't do „a certain” thing when she was a little girl. Seriously? Let me mention that Leon was eleven at the time and Macie was younger than him. And what he did at the end of the book... to me is unforgivable. Do people who gave 5 stars think it was ok?? I won't spoil, I'll just say that the ending is fucked up and ruined this book for me. If it weren't for the great and engaging way of writing I would have given fewer stars.

Until Her

A chance encounter of college football player and playboy Leon with Macie, a girl from his dark, troubled past, leads to a twisted romance in which appearances disguise and challenge true feelings. A broody Leon having mostly maintained himself closed to even his closest friends and family confronts his inner demons in this slow burn, mysterious love story. On a ten-year path to retribution, Leon covertly unleashes his hidden monster, and awkward, skeptical Macie is integral to his plan.

Three vengeful motives, and one of his targets has by chance dropped almost literally in his lap, Leon is on a path to self-realization, in which what he doesn't make apparent -- what others didn't see, didn't realize -- is actually the truth of who he is. A guy of sorrowful turmoil, the character development in this story was excellent. Throughout, I felt Leon's feelings under cover of civility, a guy wrestling with his past, projecting an image that he could not fully camouflage. Macie's reaction to him was almost symbolic reticence of those afraid to see, coupled with her own natural distrust. The beauty of this story, though, was two broken characters melding, attracted to each other, yet aware of their natural fit.

Leon was one of my favorite heroes in this series (right behind Kane). I like the author's inventiveness to make Leon less obviously a pushy alpha male and instead, by appearances, this charming, typical football player, really a player in every respect. His subtle and orchestrated winning over others was delightfully, sinfully systematic, and created strong plot intrigue. I found Macie, instead, while cutely awkward, annoyingly irksome. Her reluctance (despite having reason to be) felt contrived, too much push when she so obviously wanted to pull. I wasn't buying it. I felt she was hiding something, but in an underhanded way. I expect my feelings might shift in book 2, which I can't wait to read.

Even though this story works well as a stand-alone, there were great appearances from side characters from other books in the series which enriched the story, my favorites Letty and Kane as well as Reid and crew from the underground. Some subplots, his father for instance, added to the book's complexity and enjoyment.

There was huge chemistry between Leon and Macie. And while I understand the reasoning, the steam level left much to be desired, especially having enjoyed the spice in the first trilogy. In this book, it was too little, and definitely too late. My personal preference as slow burn combined with little spiciness are not my cuppa. Still, the plot held my interest, was not overly descriptive, and the pace was progressive.

That ending was spectacular! It went a long way to settling those things that didn't work for me. Leon was everything. I must read the next book.

That ending 😣. Leon really knows how to play the long game and then blow it all up in the end 💣

Poor Macie. Not sure how they are gonna come back from this.

The Devastation You Reap (Maddison Kings University #6) by Tracy Lorraine is a different enemies to lovers I have read. Leon needs Macie to fall for him so he can avenged those who have wronged him. She is part of his vengeance and she has no clue and readers slowly get pieces little by little of why. Leon really hides his darkness from her but loved that readers get to see it through out with the plot on other situations. Makes for a good edge of your seat read as never know when everything is going to explode or when and if he will follow through on his vengeance

Tracy’s introduction to Macie and Leon’s duet within the MKU series was a rollercoaster of questions, secrets, and hidden pasts. I thoroughly enjoyed it though, but the cliff-hanger ending was horrible, thank goodness Tracy has brought the release date of book 2 in this duet closer!

Leon Dunn has been waiting over a decade for revenge, but to who is the question. When he runs into Macie, the girl from his past he’s been searching for, by complete coincidence at college he realises that his opportunity to reap devastation is closer than he thought. He just needs to seduce Macie into giving him the information he needs. But Macie is completely opposite to the girl he pictured in his head, she’s sweet and innocent, not vengeful, and cruel as he’d always assumed. The lines become blurred between his true goal and his feelings towards Macie, so when he’s finally in the position to get his revenge, will he take it?

Leon has been intriguing since we properly met him in The Vengeance You Crave; so, I knew that whatever Tracy had in store for his story was going to be dark, tragic, and heart-breaking, and I was right. He held so much anger inside him, but from the outside it’s almost like you’d never know. I think Tracy did a really good job of introducing his character throughout this series, because there were clues that something else was going on with him and that he was the darker twin next to Luca, but nothing could’ve prepared me for being inside his head. He was in turmoil, desperate to forget his past, get revenge, but then in confusion over to his feelings and attraction to Macie. Although you’re only given hints as to what happened in Leon’s past before the cliff-hanger, I can’t wait to see how things progress now that the secret’s out.

Macie had a sheltered upbringing, and was also running from her past, although it’s still to be determined if it’s for the same reasons as Leon. MKU was her chance of a fresh start, to finally feel safe and put down roots somewhere, but Leon was not part of the plan. He was everything she thought she didn’t want, a football playing charmer who had a reputation, but she couldn’t help but let her guard down with him, revealing parts of herself she’d been determined to stay hidden. The trust she put in was fragile but could’ve grown to be stronger, and it will be a big test to see if it’s still there by the end of book 2.

I will say I’m getting to a point now with Tracy’s heroes where they all have to exact revenge on some girl from their past and I think, surely it would just be easier to go to therapy, get some help and move on, but that’s not going to be a good romance book. This book was no different, but I am still going to read the conclusion of their story because I need to know how it ends.

Leon is the last Dunn brother to get his happy ever after. This story is probably the darkest but Leon deserves his happy ever after. Let’s see if he can get it.

Leon has a thing for red heads everyone knows that but the reason isn’t common knowledge. Macie is his obsession. It’s ugly, intoxicating and full of venom. Will the truth finally settle Leon?

Well written but the revenge plot makes no sense to me. I also won’t support weak heroines who gets blamed for things that happened when she was a child! Leon is a terrible character and I never liked him in any of the books.

POV:DUAL "Things aren't as always as they seem"
Leon & Macie

We finally get to be in Leon's head and find out what made him the way he is.

Macie's naive, inexperienced and has led a sheltered life. Since the death of her parents, she was placed in the care of her Uncle, her father's brother, which the two brothers were well known football players. Her Uncle didn't want much to do with her, so he sent her to an all girls prep school, which she kept to herself. Being let down by people, she wants to belong.
Her Mum went to MKU so she's now there, wanting the College experience. Making quick friends with her dorm mates, Charlie, Nathan and Jase. She finds she's got more in common with Nathan, with both of them being Prep school students.

Leon, we've met, he's Luca's twin brother. Also on the football team, he's been second best in comparison to Luca. He's hiding something big. He's been good at covering it up for 10yrs now. But the cracks are becoming noticeable. Luca, Peyton and Letty are worried about him.
He wants his revenge, what's due to him. He's dealing with what his father he did to him, their family, to Peyton and her family.
When he recognises Macie he wants to use her to get information. He can't believe that she's within reach, he'll do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He knows that it'll devastate her. He's glad she's made some good friends, she's gonna need them.

She stays away from football players, knowing their reputations etc.
Until Leon, she should stay away from him. With spending time with him she shouldn't feel the way she does with him.
Could she be falling for him this quick?
It's got to be a dare?
Is he playing her?
She's got all these thoughts and her insecurities creep in.

He's enjoying time spent with her. But when an opportunity presents itself he's on it.
Will his feelings for her get in the way?
Will he go through with it?

I felt for these two.
They've been through pain.
Things that kids shouldn't have seen or be put through.
Seen people become monsters.

Loved this!

We don't have long to wait for book two of Leon's duet, THE RETALIATION YOU DELIVER.

"My mouth waters. The devastation I need to reap is almost in touching distance, and I can't fucking wait."

HOLY MOTHER FUC.. DEVASTATION INDEED! Oh my dark brooding boy 😩

My goodness, you really put us through the ringer here didn't you Tracy?! We all know Leon harboured secrets and darkness but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be that!

We know what to expect from Tracy and the MKU series now, which is obviously consistent greatness. But book one of Leon's duet?! You cannot even fathom the amount of brilliance you are going to read when you get this! Go into this with an open mind, be prepared for some hard hitting things because we've just hit a whole new level of darkness at MKU.

Leon Dunn, Panthers #14 wide receiver, my word he was EVERYTHING! He was dark, haunted, scary, revengeful, cruel, secretive, cunning and smart, but still beautiful...and deep down you can see that he is empathetic and torn and I know the real Leon is going to shine through! He just needs to get there, because once he does he is going to slay us and I don't think we're actually ready for that side of Leon just yet anyway 😏 let me swoon over his bloodthirsty side for a bit longer please and thank you!

Should I want to be mad for what he's doing? Yes, I should...but am I? Not even a little bit. I was so worried going into this that I was going to lose my love for him, I listened to the warnings and triggers, I went in fully expecting me to come out the other end without my usual heart eyes for him but the opposite happened. I love him even more. My heart broke for my baby boy and I just want to make his hurt go away and see him cause the devastation he has needed for 10 years.

Now Macie, I'm not really sure where my feelings stand with her at the moment, I feel bad for her in one sense, it's clear Leon isn't the only one who's been through things... but based on everything so far I can't see past Leon's rage. She does come across very sweet and innocent and not going to lie, her insecurities with Leon did pull on my heart strings, because girl I'd feel the same if I had some like like Leon interested in me! 😂 it's so clear she's fallen for him and I am so intrigued to see what she's like in the next book and how she handles everything 👀

So on the note, imma need my hands on the next book immediately because I need to see how this duet ends!

HOLY.HOLY.MOLY!!!! *SHOCKED FACE!* Review to come!

REVIEW:
The Devastation You Reap is the sixth book in the Maddison King’s University series and the first in Leon and Macie’s duet. The conclusion to Lucas’ duet left me feeling underwhelmed, so I’ll admit I was really, really nervous to start this book. But the building curiosity and my addictive personality would not let me forget about Leon and his mysterious background. Am I kicking myself for not starting this as soon as it arrived on my kindle? I sure as hell am! I was thoroughly surprised and dare I say, left feeling refreshed? There was a whole new vibe about this duet than the two previous couples’ and I am all for it. Of course, I could still feel the revenge plot brewing in the background, but the beginning and build up was, as I said, refreshing. I love that Tracy has switched things up with Leon’s storyline. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good ole fashioned bully, plain inflicting, revenge seeking romance, but one after the other was feeling a little repetitive. I just want to make it clear though that my feelings towards Luca’s conclusion had absolutely nothing to do with Tracy’s writing. As always it was spectacular. Unfortunately, it’s just the joys of being a mood reader.

Anyway, got a bit side-tracked there. Leon and Macie! *wipes brow* I have been waiting, ahem, patiently from the very beginning for Leon’s story and Tracy did not disappoint. Leon has been very successful at masking his true emotions and feelings throughout the series, but now they are all starting to unravel. And as much as it pains me to see how deep his trauma runs, I am excited to see his devious, darker side exposed in his conclusion. Be prepared to drop everything, get sucked in and not be released until the last page. Plans I had for the day? GONE! Devoured the whole thing in one sitting! Angsty, emotional and the tension? Phew, you could slice both tension and sexual tension with a knife! One thing I will say is that Tracy’s cliffhanger game is still going STRONG! I am so relieved she moved up the release date for the conclusion because damn, I really NEED it!!! Buckle up ladies and gentlemen, you’re in for a wild ride with this one!

And we finally get to our last main character story. Leon.

He's been acting increasingly odd the last few months and when he stumbles across a red head in the dorms, it's apparently who he's been looking for for ten years.

Macie Smith (really Fletcher but she changed her name so she wouldn't be connected to her famous nfl qb father) is the very opposite kind of girl Leon normally goes for. Quiet, studious, not partying type, tee total, inexperienced with the opposite sex in general. She's actually really sweet, and we see Leons intent to ruin her fir something she saw ten years ago. We don't know exactly what, but Leon blames the way he is on this occasion so it has to be bad.

He "woos" the insecure Macie. Takes her on dates, makes her feel safe and secure in what's building between them. Leon does show a little remorse here, realising Macie isn't a horrible person and he actually likes her... But a plan is a plan....

And when it all comes to a head....

My heart is torn in two. On one side is Leon. I know he's broken, he needs to get the info about macies uncle and face his past. But. I also want to slap him for how he treated Macie. When he said he was going to ruin her..... It really seemed like he has, leaving us with a true cliffhanger and not knowing where we stand with either of them.....

Am off to read the second part, and with that - the final installment of MKU!!! *sob* it's been a great journey!

I received a copy of the ebook in return for an honest review

Oh my bloody god! This series just keeps getting better and better. I loved Kane, then I loved Luca and now Leon.. 😅😅😅

To start with I’m going to say.. this series is dark. It’s the perfect definition of a bully romance. Each trilogy/duet brings more to the table and it’s definitely got triggers. Lucky for me, I have no triggers so I fucking love these books!

Leon has been a firm fav as a side character is the other books in the series so I was super excited for his duet and this first part of it did not disappoint one bit. It kept me completely engrossed and I am desperate for the second one. Tracy has a way of absolutely sucking you in to every story she writes.

Macie was a new character to the series and she comes across as super sweet and innocent but she clearly has a hidden dark part to her from something she has experienced. You don’t find out in this book (and I wouldn’t post even if you did as no spoilers!) but I’ve got a good idea from this and I can’t wait to see if my theory is correct!

Leon was darkkkkk in this! But it was exciting to finally see a glimpse of the secret that’s been alluded to in the other books. He’s so broken inside and you just wanna hug him! I didn’t fully agree with his behaviour in this but he had motivation behind his actions and believed he was doing the right thing!

I cannot wait until book 2 comes out (Sept 2nd!) for the conclusion to this duet! Amazing book 👏🏼

This book!! I completely devoured it in 2 sittings. I could not get enough. It is fast paced, intense, angsty and that ending left me shook!

I wouldn't really say it's bully romance but Leon definitely has some evil intentions towards Macie and whether he goes through with his plan or not was a question I had for the entire book. It is clear their attraction is real but Leon has such a dark past and his heart set on revenge that nothing is going to get in his way.

Leon is everything I love in dark college romance stories. However, he is tortured by thoughts of his traumatic childhood and harbouring so much hatred towards those who wronged him. I just knew something big was going to happen but I never expected the story to end the way it did! And Macie, she comes across as sweet and naive but it's clear she has been through things in her past and is hiding secrets of her own. There were a few times I wished she would just stand up for herself but overall she is a very likable character and I am dying to see how she is going to react to what happened at the end of this story.

Gah I have so many thoughts but I don't want to unintentionally give away any spoilers so I will just keep them all bottled up 🤣

This was my first Tracy Lorraine book and it definitely won't be the last. I need to go back and catch up on the other books in the series while I eagerly await part two of Leon and Macie's story. September 2nd can not come fast enough!!

This was a hard one…because Tracy has taken my heart and crushed it.

I always knew Leon was going to be my favorite twin - supportive, loving, but so very secretive. I knew he had some darkness surrounding him but to what extent… Leon’s baggage is heavy and my little black heart bleeds and weeps for him.

Macie is such a sweet and innocent introvert who is just trying to get through school and life when Leon comes storming in. Caught up in his whirlwind, she has no clue what she’s signed up for…and well, Leon makes certain for that.

There are moments where I want to hate him. Moments I want to punch him just to protect Macie. I want to tell her to keep her walls up, but it’s impossible. Because Leon has a way of wiggling his way into your heart. And together, they are so freakin’ adorable.

But the past always catches up and Tracy has an uncanny way of making you feel the devastation down to your bones and you can’t help but love him even more.

My favorite of all the MKU and I’m keeping my fingers crossed and my hopes high that my favorite couple find their HEA, not just together, but in their souls.

The Retaliation You Deliver can’t come soon enough.

My god where do i start with this book??? Things were hinted that Leon was hiding things in his brother Luca books but the depth of what that it is heartbreaking to read. Leon's happy go lucky persona covers up a whole multitude of secrets, darkness, demons and revenge. Macie (FMC) seems to be caught up in the middle of a game hes playing for his own motives but she has no idea that she is. I really liked Macie's snarky and sassy but she has a backstory that wasnt really touched upon in this book but was kind of hinted on. Omg that bloody cliffhanger ending just made me want to punch someone!!! Mainly Leon!! It was a flaming good start to Leon and Macie's books. I cant wait for the next book now

Tracy with the cliff hanger! omg I cant even! Leon is legit my favorite and ugh this book man. I can not wait until sept.2nd! Even though Leon is a total butt nugget to Macie I still love him. They could be so perfect together, I really can not wait to see what other twists and turns the mastermind that is Tracy has for us. I think hands down Leon and Macie's story is going to be by far my favorite . Which is pretty hard because Savage has held the number one spot! I promise once you pick this book up you will not stop until you get that wonderful cliff hanger, then you can welcome the book hangover ....

What did he do to you?
Oh, poor sweet Leon.
----
And I say sweet because that's exactly what he was—until he wasn't.

I knew his darkness would reel me in but... sweet baby Jesus, I am HOOKED.

Forget Kane. Forget Luca.
Leon is king of this girls heart.

Macie was pretty much what I expected.
He needed someone pure to dirty up, someone innocent he could ruin.

However, I loved that she spoke her mind. She pushed his buttons, made him work for her affections.
She was kind, caring, giving—possibly a little naive—everything good, that Lee NEEDS in his life.

The build up was EVERYTHING.
Building up her confidence, building up her trust—only to rip her wide open—after taking everything she had to give.

Yeah, I'm not even a little sorry for the grovelling that is going to be happening. After seeing how sweet and attentive he can be, Leon is going to have to bust his butt to win her trust back.

I have an idea about where this may be heading (am I spilling my theory? Not a chance!) so I'm so happy the next book has been moved up. But I'm still going to say it: I NEED THE REST OF THEIR STORY, like, YESTERDAY!

This was by far my favorite of the series. I absolutely fell in love with Leon. Everything about him was beautifully tragic. You have no choice but to love him and feel sorry for him. The boy is so lost. Macie was by far the best thing to happen to him, even though he doesn't know it yet, and even though he thinks he hates her. They are such an amazing characters and it is hard not to get wrapped up in their romance.

There's nothing better about a book than an amazing unexpected cliff. It makes waiting for the next book that much harder and so much sweeter! I can not wait to read The Retaliation You Deliver!

Well damn this series just keeps getting better and better! I’ve been dying for León Dunn’s story I knew he was a broken tortured soul but nothing could have prepared me for the devastation this book reaped ! The emotions the pain the absolute devastation after that ending! I don’t know if these two can come back from that they have crazy chemistry the sexual tension between them was real Macie and León have such a intense connection and they both are suffering from so much emotional pain I don’t have any clue where this story is going especially after that brutal cliffhanger I can only hope that this author puts my heart back together again .

This is book one of two in Leon and Macie's story. The author once again brings strong characters with a steamy chemistry and weaves an intense and emotional story. I was glued to the pages reading this story with all the twists and turns along the way. It's well written with perfectly painted scenes and is a terrific read. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Leon has been hiding his need for revenge under a persona to fool all. Macie has been raised in a gentle supporting environment. Leon is determined to have his revenge for years ago and will use Macie to get it. He didn't expect to be so attracted to Macie. An intriguing read.

I’m dead! Leon and Macie’s book destroyed me. Left me in such devastation that I want to throw my kindle… and even through all those emotions and feels my heart goes out to the pair. They had an unconventional start but these two have crazy chemistry and I enjoyed every freaking second of it!! Tracy Lorraine has taken me on a journey that starts with a bang and ends off with a cliffy that will have your heart in your throat. I’m left speechless yet I was able to shout out “No!” right at the very end! Ahh! Bring on book 2!!

I am absolutely speechless. Words cannot truly describe what I feel from this story. Especially with that ending!

4.5 ⭐️

Leon ‘Lee’ Dunn had always been in the shadows with being second best to his brother Luca when it came to everything. Football, family, friends and girls. Though he may seem confident and cocky considering the reputation he has built up. On the inside he is anything but, hiding deep dark secrets that festered the monster within who is fighting to come out and seek retribution from those that made him who he is now. When he accidentally stumbles upon Macie ‘Mace’ “Smith” Fletcher, the one who could’ve saved him, but chose not to, he knows his time has come for retaliation. But will it be as easy as he thought when emotions start to get involved?

The way Tracy had included Leon throughout the Maddison Kings University (MKU) series, there was something about him that made him stand out to me. Not just because of the mystery to the secrets he alluded to. But the way he was throughout Letty and Kane and Leon and Peyton's stories. Especially when it came to his behaviour, I knew he was something special. It was one of the reasons why I loved him the most and couldn’t wait for his story. As the saying goes, you save the best for last, which I believe is what Tracy did when it came to finally allowing his story to be told.

From the get go it was obvious that Macie and Leon’s story was different from Kane and Letty and Luca and Peyton. Whilst it did share some similarities. However the way Tracy built the narrative, you could spot more differences making it unique and setting it apart from what had been written within the previous stories in the MKU series.

Even though Macie and Leon’s journey may have been like riding the slowest rollercoaster ever. I loved the tone she set when it came to the pace of the overall narrative. It gave more of authentic feel to it and made it more genuine, considering it went along with what Leon was trying to do himself in his relationship with Macie. Considering the intensity of tension and suspense built throughout with watching their relationship develop meticulously within a Slow Burn.
It’s what made the narrative all the more alluring with Tracy slowly but surely pulling you in like a predator luring its prey. Whilst having you clinging on in anticipation in also wanting to know the mysteries behind the secrets alluded to from both Macie and Leon.
Whilst the story may have brought emotions and feelings to the forefront, it didn’t delve in as deep as you would expect. At least not in the beginning, considering the locks both kept with never really allowing it to be released, to then get the better of them. Especially with what they were hiding. Since they also felt like it made them weak with acknowledging it, putting them in a vulnerable position which they did not like or want to allow. But gradually the further the story progressed you were able to read every emotion and feeling under the sun with how it bled off the page that had you all over the place with trying to sort your own emotions out too.

WARNING Tracy will definitely be breaking hearts when it comes to Leon!
The way Tracy hesitantly unravelled Leon before our very eyes, showing us small pieces of a lonely broken boy hiding on the inside. It was sad and painful to take in, having to watch a powerless and vulnerable Leon succumb to being consumed wholly by his inner monster demons. In allowing them to strip him raw of his emotions and feelings when confronting his past. Only then to concede to the darkness that surrounded him with letting it be released.
Honestly my heart completely broke for not only with having to see him give into his darkness. But knowing everything he endured and suffered throughout his life alone. With no one there to help him get through it all. The raw, nitty grittiness of every emotion and feeling he felt lead to pages being bled through by it all, whilst feeling like getting gut punch to the stomach with just how intense it truly was.
Nonetheless despite his struggle to fight his inner battles when it came to right and wrong, with all that he had carried through, you could see there was still light left in him. Seeing as how he couldn’t help but try to pull back at times when it came to his retaliation in which included Macie.

Macie was an enigma of sorts with hiding herself from all those around her. It isn’t until Leon comes into her life, that her walls slowly start to come down. But at the same time, she was still cautious and sceptical with moving forward. At the same time, whilst she may have seemed quiet in keeping to herself mostly, however in Leon’s presence it was as if a light had been switched on. And out popped a sassy, sarcastic girl who couldn't help but word vomit in an attempt to cover up the nervousness she felt.
Whilst I admit I didn’t really have much of an opinion for Macie, just because I felt like I barely got to know her like I did with Letty and Peyton in their stories. However, I did feel sympathy for her throughout at times, especially when it came to her family life.

Although I did already have my theories early on when it came to Leon, considering all the hints and peeks dropped throughout the MKU series. The torture I was put through of waiting for answers, which simultaneously was painful yet exciting and enticing. Especially with seeing how Leon and Macie’s story would play out. At the same time it’s what had me hanging on and devouring the story all the more faster.
But even with that, I honestly wasn’t fully prepared for what his story would be. Seeing as I was left completely gobsmacked by the end and not just because of the cliffhanger ending.

HOLY MOLY! Tracy has done it again but even more so with Leon’s story in The Devastation You Reap! I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to see what will happen in the finale with The Retaliation You Deliver.
Safe to say I highly recommend checking out the Maddison Kings University series, if you haven’t already done so.

This is the first part of Leon’s story and the one I have been waiting for as he always been my favourite character. In Kane and Letty’s Trilogy he was the sweet and helpful twin, who was always up for a laugh but we were left knowing he was hiding something. In his brother’s book he tried so hard to sort out Luca when he was going off the rails. He totally believed Peyton’s side of the story and embraced his new little brother. However, everyone was beginning to realise he was definitely hiding something as he was much quieter than normal and had an obsession with redheads. When everything came to a head in The Destruction You Crave, Leon’s darkness reared it’s ugly head and we began to see that whatever he was hiding greatly affected him.

This is still a dark bully romance but as opposed to the way Luca dealt with his revenge, we see Leon showing a caring and romantic side. Luca was violent in his rage but Leon uses mental instead of physical abuse to get to his end game. We really see the two sides of his personality as he vulnerable and thoughtful one moment then extremely angry and vicious the next. I was shocked at how manipulative he became after what he went through growing up with his father.

Macie is in her Freshman year at MKU. She is awkward, quiet and shy. I liked it when she was nervous and couldn’t stop talking, letting her thoughts just fall out of her mouth. She has led a sheltered life and is ready to experience everything college has to offer. She wants to live a normal life free from being controlled and just surviving. She is in a dorm with Charlie, Nathan and Jace who provide the fun and teasing in the book. She has been let down and hurt by football players in the past that she is extremely wary of Leon Dunn. His reputation precedes him especially with the way they first meet. She noticed the evil glint in his green eyes as he taunted her but also confused as he made her feel things she’s never felt before.

We constantly find out that Leon has been searching for Macie for years. He has spent the last ten years almost drowning in his darkness and is looking forward to getting it all settled so he can feel like himself again. He knows he has a beast inside that won’t be satisfied until it has had the revenge it requires and destroyed the lives of those who tried to break him. He is positive no-one would understand his need to do what he is doing and doesn’t want their pity. He is desperate to find out the answers he needs and it’s not helped by seeing his friends finally getting their girls.

Luca and all their friends are extremely worried about Leon and cross he won’t talk to them. Luca is frustrated that he won’t tell him what happened to their father after he left The Locker Room. Their relationship is becoming distant and the only place they come together is on the field.
I really liked how Nathan supported and helped Macie. She also has a lovely scene with Micah and Letty’s persuasive power is in full force as they become friends much to Leon’s annoyance.

Macie is sure Leon playing a game but finds it hard to resist when he so romantic and kind. Both think they will win but he is clever and just bides his time. I really started to wonder if his conscience would get the better of him as his feelings changed towards her and the attraction grew. His plan started to work well as he was able to find an outlet for his anger so he didn’t take it out on her. The reasons for his behaviour and what he has been hiding are surprising and appalling, so hopefully the real Leon will return after he has had his devastating revenge. I definitely don’t want Leon to end up like the monster his father is. There is obviously so much more involved and we hardly know anything about her past and the secrets she hiding.

Luckily for Macie he controls the darkness inside him for most of the book but when he finally snaps he is unrelenting in his need for revenge. Be prepared for a shocking ending that I think will have dire consequences for both Macie and Leon. Can’t wait for the conclusion to see how the author will heal these two broken characters.
