A little concerned that he seemed to have skipped the Norn's notice when it came to getting a mate, Norse God Loki decided to embark on a path of self-discovery. He believed that the Norns hadn't put a mate in his path, yet, because he didn't know much about living as a mortal. So, in the interests of learning all he could about the human experience, and following a path many mortals did, Loki employed the services of a mortal therapist. And, sure enough, after following her directions, Loki found himself standing in front of his mate.

Let the loving and fun times begin...

Except, Anubis, Egyptian God of Mummification, Death, and Lost Souls, was having a few issues of his own. He wasn't about to reject Loki, he hadn't heard of him before, but he was too wound up in his own human experiences. They included a blond twink named Cooper, a nightclub with staff who didn't know their place, and concerns about what he'd learned regarding Osiris during his father's altercation with Seth.

Nobody had ever worked out if fated gods could live without each other, but with everything going on around them, Anubis and Loki might have to see if it was possible. Loki would only take a certain amount of being ignored before he did what he did best - Being Loki.

Being Loki is an MM paranormal romance story where Loki is described at one point as being something akin to an adorable puppy. I wouldn't write about him unless I could give him an HEA, but he and Anubis do have some fun working things out. This book is intended for adults only - please store your content responsibly.

Can be read as standalone, but reading Odin's story (Special Enough) and Seth's Story (Reconciliation) will give you more depth about the backstories.

I love Loki and Anubis!!

I loved that Loki was neurodivergent rather than malicious. He knew that he didn’t quite fit in, and was desperate to find out how to ‘be normal’ so that he wouldn’t be hated and shunned any longer. My heart broke for him and how he had never had support in all of the millennia of his life.

Anubis was perfect for Loki after he finally looked at his mate. It took him a bit to realize that Loki wasn’t like any other god, but once he truly saw Loki, he was devoted and amazing.

I adored Loki in this, he was beautifully innocent. This was one of my favourite books of the series, I always thought he would be more like Posiden but he was uniquely written I believe. Anubis once he started to pay attention to his mate was also quite adorable.

I tend to eat up anything Lisa has to write and I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely read.

Very good

I really loved this book and found Lisa's take on Loki so sweet.

I'm looking forward to the next in the series as it felt that it came to an end too quickly.

Hopefully, we'll get the next in the City Dragons series before too long.

Being Loki

Really liked Lisa’s version of Loki. He is a sweet inquisitive, misunderstood character. Anubis is just the mate to make him whole. Looking forward to the continuation.

disappointing

I was so looking forward to this book, however it just didn’t hold my interest. It normally takes me a few hours to read one of these books. This one took me 3 days.
Spoiler-ish…
I didn’t like Anubis he was very not god like. He treated Loki like an after thought. He let his employees treat him even worse. He had no backbone or just didn’t give a crap.
I really didn’t like how Loki was portrayed. He is the god of mischief and he didn’t do anything. He spent most of the book on internal reflection and I’m sorry but he’s been a live for thousands of years, and quite a few on earth yet he knew nothing about humans or how they lived. He was made to be kind of an imbecile. Which sucked. We barely got any real history about him. He mentions he three children briefly but nothing else. It was frustrating and very disappointing. 😒

Disappointing

While I love this series I have to say this one kind of fell flat. Loki and Anubis are a great couple and I really liked them but it was the humans in this story that ruined it. They were horrible, unkind, greedy, and selfish, although I did like Cooper. And after being treated like shit by these mortals, what did the gods Loki and Anubis do, nothing. They actually rewarded them for their bad behaviour which just didn't make any sense to me. Also aside from Loki you wouldn't of known Anubis was a God in this book because he doesn't use his powers and seems more human than the mortals. Terribly disappointing. Ordinary read because the Gods were just ordinary, boring. Loki deserved so much better than what this book delivered.

An Egyptian god and a Norse god romance

Anubis and Loki are mates but it is slow going to claiming each other with one thing after another interfering. Loki is actually an innocent with a very curious mind and a bad reputation. Anubis keeps getting called back to ancient Egypt to deal with family issues but they finally get past miscommunication to form a loving relationship. The book ends with Loki pregnant and two twins from the Egyptian pantheon asking for help to find a mate. I am so glad there will be another book in the series

New favorite?

Maybe. Probably. I just freaking KNEW Loki would be amazing. The way he looked at the world was so amazing and the way Lisa blended lore with her universe was just mind blowing. I wish more time was spent on the reconciliation between odin, Thor and Loki but I was still pleased with how if turned out. Yeah, probably my new favorite. Can't wait to reread this book! I might actually just do it now! Utterly fantastic. 16 Gajillion stars!

I love this series but somehow this book didn't grab me as the previous ones have.
I didn't feel a connection with the main characters or a connection between them for the first half of the book. The second half drew me in more and I liked the ending and were we leave Loki and Anubis for now.

The book is not bad and I love the take on Loki and it might be that I wasn't in the right mindset.

I really liked Loki and Anubis' story. Sometimes people were acting strange, like the coworkers in the club or especially "Harold's" therapist.
Right from the start I really related to Loki somehow. All he wants is to be seen and to be valued for himself.
This book makes me want to reread the whole series again!

Would like to read the ending!

The story is great, you get a completely different perspective of Loki. He's always been the one to take fault for what others do and for misunderstandings.

Loved It

This is one truly special story in this series. I saw Loki in a new light and felt his pain, confusion, and loneliness. He never truly had a family or friends until he found Anubis, and he found then he found so much more.

oh, sweet summer child

Loki is truly misunderstood!!! Anubis is perfect for him and his innocent ways. It’s adorable when he’s threatening people like an excited puppy. The abduction is hilariously classic!

Great Story!

Once again, Lisa Oliver weaves a Great Story! An odd combination that you certainly wouldn’t expect and a refreshing take creating a much more three-dimensional Loki than I’ve seen before! Go, Lisa!

The misunderstood asshole thing can be tricky but I think the author did a great job. Initially, I enjoyed the slow burn, but the carry through left a lot to be desired.
