A Dozen Tales to Chill Your Bones
Scary Tales for Dark Nights will make you wish you had turned on the lights. Pull the covers close—no hanging a foot over the edge now—and keep one eye on the closet door. What's that sound? Oh, it's just the wind, you tell yourself. Steady your trembling hands. Calm your pounding heart. Are you ready? Then, let's start...

Jessica hears scratching and growling at her new house, and it's not some harmless animal trying to get out of the basement.

An urban explorer visits the site of mass murder at an old cult commune to make videos that he hopes will go viral, but he finds something far worse than an abandoned mansion covered in spiderwebs and debris.

A trail runner goes into the forest to train for an upcoming race but soon realizes she's become the prey of a creature she never knew existed.

Read these and other terrifying tales of ghosts, monsters, vampires, shifters, and more from the twisted mind of C S C Shows.

A great spooky anthology! I really enjoyed the 13 stories in this book! From a vampire who thinks he is getting an easy snack but it turned out to be a nightmare to something in the cellar scratching and growling to a teacher bringing home something (and this is why you should leave things as they are) to a woman with amnesia finding her waking up from a foggy amnesia a year later to a trunk with some spooky things. There is something for everyone and I had tons of fun reading it and it was definitely spooky. I read it last night when I couldn't sleep and haha, yeah, it didn't help the sleep. But I just couldn't resist. XD
Recommended. I hope that the author makes more of these!

I found this book in a thriller Facebook group and decided to give it a try. Thank you to the author, C.S.C Shows for my ARC, here is my voluntary review.

It seemed similar to scary stories to tell in the dark, and as a child I loved those. I would stay up all night reading them under my covers with a flashlight. I always believe that's where my love of thrillers/true crime began!

quite a few of the stories I found interesting and entertaining, but I wouldn't say they were scary. I was hoping for a little more of a creep factor, and maybe a little more gore. A few stories I was wanting more of an ending than the author provided. and some stories I was a little confused on. I did like how the author put her inspiration and thoughts about each story in the end of the book. It added more context to the stories. but I think I will read the other two volumes!

Overall Opinion
What an awesome read! As an avid reader of the legendary Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, I went into this book hoping like crazy this would be similar, and boy was it! It gave off super creepy vibes while reading, which is not easy to do, the length of each story was perfect and didn't bore or drag in the slightest. My favourite story in the collection was The Gaunt Man, it gave me shivers down my spine! Overall a really fun and creepy read, perfect for young teens to read, especially around a campfire or at a sleepover!

Have you ever read, or heard of, the 1981 publication of “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” by Alvin Schwartz? This is what “Scary Tales for Dark Nights Vol. 1” reminds me of. I see my young thirteen or fourteen-year-old self, sitting in the dark with a group of my friends in a circle, with only a flashlight and this book, taking turns trying to read the stories as scary as we can to spook each other.

I rate this book four stars and would recommend it to younger audiences in their teenage years.

Book Review

This was very interesting. It reminds me of when I was younger and would read “scary stories to tell in the dark”.

I did enjoy this, there are stories in it that I wanted to continue more or have a true “ending” but all in all I really did enjoy these short stories.

If you want a spooky quick read I would highly recommend this book.

Reading these stories is nice, they are quick reads that are interesting. Maybe it’s because they are short stories that I feel there isn’t enough development in the story for it to be great. There are also some typos throughout. Overall good plots, but more development is needed to really grab a reader (or at least me).

Scary tales for dark night's

I really enjoyed this book. The stories were just the perfect length and did not get boring by being too dragged out. So many varied stories. Look forward to reading second book.

The book creeped me out, which is hard to do. Some stories were spookier than others, and some I felt were too long. Overall it was a decently spooky book to read at night.

Interesting for short stories.

I really enjoyed the New Orleans and the trunk story those would be good for an in-depth book with more detail.

Not too bad!

Some stories are creepy, and a few could use some work. Overall, not a bad read for Volume 1. I would recommend if you just want some short, fun stuff to read quickly.

I loved this short story book, some are a no slow but most will leave you wanting more! Teachers Pet and Brinegar House are my favorites but many of them were great!

Fairly low violence, safe horror stories. I didn’t find the book spectacular, but I liked it enough that I’ll check out more by the author if it comes my way.
