I enjoy the storyline, but the series is nothing riveting. They’re quick reads and there’s a big storyline through the whole series I just wanna know the ending to 😂
So Far this author has never failed to deliver a page turner. Harleys sleuthing skills are far and above those around her. As a pair of young girls go missing, then found dead, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it all. Is it Random, or Intentional?
As Harley and her partner investigate this strange community then all sorts of possibilities arise. This is like a commune with their own rules and policing tactics. But as the number of bodies grow, they decide they need police help.
Harley, with her expertise in serial killers is just the one to rely on. But sometimes it’s hard to reign her in to follow the rules. As they follow one so called lead after another, they get nowhere. The communes getting angry and the police feel stumped. Then Harley starts digging through the computer about missing pairs of women. She gets a hit and she’s off. But you know Harley, just run off half cocked and gets herself in a mess. But you’ll have to read the grisly mess for yourself.
Nowhere Left continues Harley Cole’s intense FBI journey as bodies start appearing in the desert—victims of a new serial killer linked to a secretive commune. Still reeling from personal heartbreak, family loss, and being put on leave, Harley is forced back to her hometown and into the secrets she’s spent years running from. As she and her partner dig deeper, the case uncovers painful connections to her missing sister and the killer from her past. Fast-paced, gritty, and emotionally charged, this instalment delivers tense investigation, dark twists, and a heroine you can’t help but root for.
I Like These Characters, But... Harley Cole and cast are good, engaging characters. I especially like her FBI partner, who brings an odd touch of humor and some much-needed common sense to the storyline. But I had the same problem with this story that I had with the first book in the series. For some reason, every time Harley uncovers a new person of interest, she immediately jumps to the conclusion that this is the killer she's looking for. She never just sets out to question a person. She's always convinced that she's about to nab the serial killer. Every time. She's like a bull in a china shop.
She's also extremely impulsive. I was hoping as the stories and characters developed more, she would learn to temper her over-active imagination and startling impulsiveness. Her partner is certainly trying, but there's only so much one man can do against a stubborn, over-eager, impetuous woman. Yikes. I seriously need her to calm down just a touch. The stories are good, and the characters are great. I just have this one issue that isn't seeing any improvement. I'm going to try the next book in the series and hope for the best.
Harley has a lot of energy and that is shown in the way she acts and expresses herself. At last her partner has accepted the way she is and is willing to run the risks involved in working together with her. In Nowhere Left they are chasing a killer that is picking his victims from a compound that is located on the outskirts of Santa Fe. The peculiar thing is that he always targets a pair of victims, and is doing so in a very accelerated way. Harley and Callaway solve the case but not before more lives are taken. She has quite a few positive things happening in her personal life regarding her family, her love life, and her sister's case. If this was a good story, I believe the next will be even better! I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This second installment of the Harley Cole series was definitely worth the listen. I enjoyed this audiobook and already have the next one ready in my Spotify playlist. The main character, Harley is becoming more likable with each book. I like the way the author brings her back story in small doses. Some authors constantly throw facts at you until you don’t want to learn any more but not this author. Also the plot of this story was intriguing and had my full attention from start to finish. Harley’s partner is likable and I can’t wait to see how things play out next.
This is a sequel to the first in a series of books, and while I find the authors style engaging, the number to book in this series did not grab hold of my imagination and attention as well as the first book dead. This one, to me, almost felt like a steppingstone to the next book. Still, it was an interesting story and continued with the same characters that were introduced in the first book. A nice read.
Second in the series if FBI agent Harley Cole. She has moved back to her hometown of New Mexico accepting a position with the local FBI office. Her and her partner Callaway investigate murders of girls that are happening in pairs. Their investigation leads them to a community of people that live off the grid.
These books are quick easy reads. They are suspenseful. Now on to “Nowhere To Run”
Audiobook. This was a better story than the first story in the series, “Nowhere Safe”. There is more character development, although I did wonder if the author used some of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal details for some of the story. I listen to this as a workout. It’s an easy listen. I’m on the number 3 in the series, “Nowhere to Run”.
Harley and her partner Calloway are on the hunt for a killer who is snatching up girls in twos. The killer seems to be going after an off the grid community but is it someone from the community or an outsider. Every time they get a new lead, they are thrown on a new wild goose chase. Pretty good story and pretty good twists.
Great read a little gruesome who ever thought it would tie into more killings. Little confusing at first but, along well. Four out of five stars only because of the gruesome nature.
I really like this series so far. The main characters are believable and have many layers. Each book really stands on its own while also having some overarching themes and storylines. Can’t wait to start reading book 3!
Wow, I thought the first book in this series was great but this just blew that out of the water, page turner & you want to see what happens next. Brilliantly written & excellent story, I'll be purchasing the next one straight away
New series to me and I like it. My 2nd story from the author. Nice tidy plot, clean dialogue, messy murder, and a terrific narrator — what else could a fan ask for! 😄
Harley is supposed to be an FBI agent. Any normal human being would have more situational awareness than she does. Also, you never give up your gun. Ever.
