How do you forgive someone who has wronged you so terribly, yet feels they did nothing wrong? Kris Ball's words grab the reader by the hand and take them on a life-long journey to answer this question. Ball's tightly woven tapestry of devastating turmoil beginning with childhood abuse and abandonment that slowly unravels into an adulthood mired with depression, alcoholism, and dysfunction, will both astonish and touch the readers' hearts. She paints a picture of loneliness and heartache, but assures the reader that healing is possible through laughter and the passage of time, and that there is freedom in letting go of anger. Ball extends a hand of hope for all victims of abuse.
I really like poetry and was enjoying this, but having a content warning mid-book really threw me out. I support them for those who want them, but it kinda spoiled the content for me and I wasn't compelled to read the rest. Warnings should, to me, be where a reader can choose whether or not to read them, like the front or back, not below a chapter heading 25% in. Just kinda spoiled the flow for me, but that's my personal feeling. Otherwise I enjoyed the poetry!
It is not often that the contents of a book like this is available to read; thank you, Kris! Most interesting and a book to read over from time to time.
