Lawd! These two took me through it! The back and forth, the secrets and lies, just a whole lot going on! Whew...... I wasn't sure what to make of Tosh in the beginning. Yeah, he was sexy and full of swag, but he had a wild side! He was kind of reckless and nasty as hell! He seemed to have a lot about him, that he tended to hide behind with sex and weed! Brielle! Girl, listen.......I was not expecting your revelation, not after letting Tosh have his way like you did! These two seemed like they would be a one and done, which they both seemed to be okay with. But, Brielle was able to break Tosh down, and he began to feel a love that he never experienced before! He was a softie underneath all that bravado, and loved to spoil his woman! Brielle felt a pull toward this man, and just hoped that he was the real deal! Then here comes all the ish! Tosh's secrets began to fall out of the closet, and he risked losing Brielle forever! Charmaine was wrong as hell for all she was doing, but chile when THAT person walked into the house, I almost choked! What??? I must admit toward the end, both Tosh and Brielle were really getting on my nerves; and I wanted a resolution quickly! 😡 Will there be more with the Daniel's clan? I would love to know more about Todd. Do the brothers handle Torrence for his betrayal? What a ride! Good job! 👍👍👍
You ever read a book that gave you the sweetest vibes but frustrated you at the same damn time? “Capturing the Soul of a Boss” had me deep in my feelings and couldn’t put this book down. Brielle and Tosh met online, formed a bond with each other and both left out pertinent information concerning their lives . Brielle worked my nerves on several occasions. I understood her indecisiveness but the annoyance? Nah I can’t let that slide lol! Tosh is rough around the edges and successful. I loved how he bossed up from his mistakes and built an empire. He was a true simp when it came to Brielle. He had no issues spoiling her and you know we love a man that pays to play. This couple had some nasty moments. Expect a vocal hero, praise kink, solo masturbation, cum showers, dirty talk and sex toys! If you’re looking for a book that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of lies, secrets and downright audacity, this one is for you. With that being said, I wanted to see the relationship progress with his mother and I also a conversation with his brother and the mother of his child should’ve been on page. How you leave his hanging like that girl?? Overall, I had a blast reading this story and thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m waiting for this author’s next book with a flashlight in the day!
So when I first started reading this book it felt very rushed. The character development seemed like it could have been better but the more I got into the book and the drama (and boy was there drama!!!!) began to unfold, everything came together like missing puzzle pieces. This was a really good book and I loved how Tosh stepped up and took accountability even though he had all of the audacity early on in the book. Him and Brielle had me worried for a minute! Solid 4.5 stars!
Listen!!! The ups and downs of it all. I didn't know if I was rooting for or against Tosh and Brielle.
Brielle was blogger that had a cool gig if you ask me, as she created different pescatarian recipes and reviewed some restaurants. She worked from home and you can tell she was introverted maybe not by choice but she accepted it. We only got to know her surface level, while we got to know Tosh a little deeper. She was searching for a friend because her relationship no longer served her. She met Tosh and was rightfully scared because her life was about to change.
Tosh was an interesting character to say the least. He was a chameleon; a boss in the streets, a certified fboy to the ladies, and a certified loverboy to Brielle. He was extremely conflicted in what he wanted out of life. After meeting Brielle all he knew was he wanted her at whatever the cost.
Together they were nasty. Fireworks, you hear me! Physically they were in sync. It was out of the bedroom where they told lies by omitting key parts of their lives. At some points I was like now this is enough, because it felt so childish not to communicate when you are supposedly in love. As Tosh's character was being developed in the beginning, I think it was a little too much. I get wanting to establish him as a boss, but it seemed extra. Then the way he handled Dontae and made a big a$# show of it, but then was so hypocritical himself. I just....what boss moves like that? Overall a solid 3.5 stars but I landed at a 4 because I would definitely read another story about these characters.
This Couple had A LOT going on….initially, Tosh was this rough, round the way guy meeting women in hotels, nutting in their faces, having orgies, selling dope and he went to this super soft pile of sugar….The male character just seemed like 2 different people to me…I’m completely aware we change with new relationships…but his change was too drastic….and Brielle was whiney and hypocritical.
I like the story. Tobias was just a straight shooter at first, till he fell in love. Bre was sweet, but she loved her some Tobias. Secrets were revealed. And we know what happens when those get revealed.
I really enjoyed this story. Brielle and Tosh were NASTY, lol. But I’m not mad at them. I thought Brielle went a little too hard on Tosh considering she had a similar situation. I’m glad they cleared it up and got their HEA.
This rollercoaster was soooo good. Like, you really did your thang Ta. So much stuff came to light. I ain’t gone lie; when that person walked through Char door, I just KNEW it was going to be Brielle’s ex husband. But the SHOCK!! Definitely shook the table with that one. Definitely recommending!!
I liked this version of the Bad guy, Good girl trope. The story was daunting at times, and a few times, I wanted to scream. But, overall, I liked this story.
This book right here is a must-read! Ms. James did the darn thing. It is so many plot twists and turns in this book however the storyline is exceptional. The many sides of Tosh were impressive. He was a "boss" for sure but he had a heart of gold. He was also quite intelligent and used his smarts to gain that "boss" status. He didn't let the curveballs thrown at him get him off track to becoming a success. Brielle met the love of her life and didn't even know it. Tosh was the opposite of her ex Dontae. Dontae was a narcissist and thought he had the upper hand. Tosh nipped that in the bud. I knew it was more to Tosh as I read but when I thought I figured out his secret I was totally wrong. His secret surprised me but I really didn't expect who the lover of his baby mama was. Torrence was wrong in how he did that. Torrence being the oldest brother should have known better. I think he had some underlying jealousy for Tosh and Todd.
This is a magnificent work of art. Tosh and Brielle were made for each other. Tosh showered Brielle with love, attention, and gifts. He made sure to spoil his "princess" and her dog(s). Brielle deserved it after the headache and heartache Dontae took her through. She was also able to establish a career that she enjoyed. Her career took off with one kind gesture from an unexpected person. I was glad that Tosh and his mother finally had a conversation. She was proud of Tosh and he needed to hear that. This is a great read, get into it. 🤞🏽I am low-key hoping that Todd and Sade's story is birthed from this masterpiece.
Lawd I was not ready for everything that was Tosh Daniels. Brielle and Tosh was made for each other and I like when she had to boss up… That Charmaine was raggedy and a handful of drama for no reason. It was hot and spicy when it was good and when it was bad my heart almost couldn’t take it… Tatum never fails to deliver an amazing read and I can’t wait for what’s next
I really enjoyed this one. When I tell you I was on a roller coaster ride.... surprise after surprise, I didn't know how much more I could take! And didn't think they were all good ones 😕 But overall it's was a wonderful journey
Brielle and Tosh took you a mental rollercoaster ride. It is to explain without trying to give away to much of.the story line, bit that a very good and interesting book. The situation with the baby momma and the brother was some foul stuff. I am glad Tosh got his situations under control to be the man Brielle needed for him to be.
That ending was so cute and funny. I loved that they grew together as couple. They meet in an unconventional way but make it worked and loved on each other
I enjoyed reading about Tosh and Brielle. The both of them had to overcome hurt/feelings of abandonment but once they opened up they realized their love. Now this BM and Brother I needs more on that.
I enjoyed this read. Tosh was so toxic in the beginning but always seemed to soften around Brielle. It was clear they both caught feelings although they were supposed to keep their relationship casual. So many secrets were revealed causing them to take forever to finally get it together. They both seemed to bring out the best in each other.
Loved it!! ❤️ Tosh was definitely generous bae!! Loved Brielle, sweet girl. I don’t think I would have been able to get past the hot tub scene🤬. Baby mama /wife was trash 🗑 along with his brother but she redeemed herself in the end!!! The surprise in delivery was cute and unexpected! Great job👍🏽👏🏽👍🏽.
Tosh and Brielle were a mess. Bri start off keeping secrets and Tosh kept it going. I believe they would have gotten it right sooner if they were truthful off the back. I'm so glad they got it together because they were good for each other.
I enjoyed Tosh and Brielle. Tosh was a little hypercritical reacting to her secret the way he did since he was hiding something himself. I loved the energy he put into her and when he showed his sensitive side. I was surprised by the person who came clean about everything. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just read the book.
1. He referred to the FMC as bitch multiple times 2. He kicked her out the car on the street I believe 3. He lied 4. He’s corny asf
I think if I read this four years ago I would have liked Tosh, but now that I’m older I just can’t seem to understand why the girls like Tosh. I really do not like how the book painted the MMC to be a good match for Brielle. He was not. This book was romantic at some points but at others it was just like why do we like him again? Because he has a tortured past and good sex?? No. I want better for the girls because this was not it. I really want authors to start SHOWING us why the FMC loves the MMC. Not just in what they do for the Woman but who they are as a person. ARE THEY A GOOD PERSON? And like half of the time they are manipulative, liars, cheaters, rude to other women, misogynistic, homophobic. But they bought her a dozen roses, a few cars, and tells her she’s beautiful so it’s okay right? No, it’s not. And I don’t care if he’s supposed to a “morally grey character” we said grey not black. And that leads me to another thing. The characters were very one dimensional and lacked personality.
Sorry if it feels like I’m going on a tangent, but I feel really strongly about the men we write in our romance books and us choosing to “like” horrible men in a fantasy sense.
Again, I think if I read this a few years ago I would have liked the writing. The pace of the book was a little too fast that not necessarily I didn’t understand what was going on, but was left unsatisfied. The only time I really enjoyed the writing was the when the sex scenes came up. They were drawn out, there was more showing instead of telling, and no unnecessary additions to the plot or the character’s thoughts. It kinda felt like when the scenes switched so did the writing style.
All in all. I will read another book by this author since I purchased one from the all black book Affair, but this one just wasn’t for me.
I wanted to enjoy Brielle and Tosh but too much immaturity, miscommunication, and bad decisions were happening. I can not understand the logic behind either of them. I can’t even blame it on being broken or previous trauma. There was glimpses of situations that would cause PTSD but not enough to warrant their actions. The time lapses were confusing and hard to keep up with, they are together and then the next sentence it’s been days/weeks/months since they have been together. I did not consider DNF because I’m nosey and wanted to see the end. There was some decent drama and I was pleased with the ending give this 2.75 stars.
Omggggggg yasssss I loved everything about this book from beginning to the end babyyyy tosh us that guy I knew something was up with charmaine I just couldn't put my finger on it but anyways I'm glad she came to her senses I see Todd don't play lol that's twins for you that damn Brielle wasn't playing no games cause she went through enough bullshit I loved how humble she was my girl got wifed up and had twins yasssss I'm glad angel was apart of everything😍
Tosh and Brielle tried hard to keep things in the friend zone, but they both fell extremely fast. Him faster than her. He about lost it when he found out she was married and had cut him off. Yet, months later he was keeping the same secret. They went through so much drama, but their love saved their relationship. Excellent read!
This was a perfect combination of drama and romance. Brielle and Tosh were supposed to be a no strings attached relationship but the chemistry was too strong. Both were keeping secrets that threatened their future together. Tosh was not looking to settle down. Brielle was very insecure because of her current situation. There were a few unexpected twists and turns to their story.
This book was good. The brother and baby mom need to be ashamed of themselves. Especially the baby mom after all that fussing she did. I’m glad Tosh and Brielle got it together and had a happy ending
