In the Land of Dærth, two provinces coexist peacefully in the sixty year wake of The Wanderer’s War. But, as all kings do, King Leofriċ wants more. Growing unrest and disruptions with trade catches the attention of the Free People, and they will not stand for it. Revenge and betrayal rule this story but, as does friendship, tenacity, and love.
Loved this book. I am a big fan of books that feel like they're set in medieval-like times so this was the perfect setting for me.
I saw many new ideas in here which was very refreshing, and they didn't feel forced or 'made up'.
We are following different characters in this book and even though it is relatively short, the author takes her time to build the world and introduce the different characters properly but not with too much exposition. Some of the protagonists are more likeable than others but I enjoyed everyone's POV and finding out about everyone's motives.
I got very invested in the story after the conflict has been set and couldn't wait to find out how it ends.
Loved this book! This isn’t my typical genre but I totally enjoyed this story and adored the characters. I kept thinking about it when I wasn’t reading it, it really pulled me into their world. There were a few spots missed by the editor but overall I really liked it, and recommend! I am hoping there will be a part 2, and I’ll read that as well!
