Ghost whisperer, Gianna Mancini, has been communicating with the dearly departed since she was a child. It’s been a lonely gift that she’s kept hidden from everyone other than family and a few close friends. As far as the rest of the world knows, ghosts aren’t real.
Until now…
When dance instructor, Nadia Petrov, is killed and falls into a mirror during her collapse, her spirit seeps into the glass and can be seen by anyone who passes. Much like Bloody Mary, she jumps from mirror to mirror, but unlike the urban legend, Nadia delights in scaring and then cackling at those unfortunate enough to be around—earning her new nickname, Screama Ballerina.
Gianna has no intention of getting involved in solving Nadia’s death until the police question Gianna’s fifteen-year-old niece, who’s clearly lying about something. Now, Gianna must figure out who had it in for the controlling dancer in order to clear her niece’s name and help Screama Ballerina move on. But the killer will stop at nothing to shut Gianna up for good......
Jennifer Fischetto is a USA TODAY bestselling author of suspense with supernatural elements. Her books blend the ordinary with the eerie and show what happens when relationships deepen, betrayals crush, and survival means facing what’s been hiding in the dark.
She writes about women who keep secrets, uncover painful truths, and never leave the house without lip balm. She believes every good story needs danger, hope, and really delicious food.
When she isn’t writing, she’s usually reading, watching something spooky, or dreaming of year-long October.
Gianna gets thrown into the dance world thanks to her niece's newest activity. This causes her to get a lot more than she bargained for including a difficult to control ghost.
For fans like myself of the Gianna Mancini Mysteries, this is a different ghost encounter than others she has had in the past. There are some other good twists too. Additionally, the expert descriptions help to paint a complete picture of the story for the reader. This is another enjoyable book in the Gianna Mancini Mystery series.
Tutus, Fries & Dead Guys Earns 5/5 Shards…Entertaining Gem!
Gianna’s fifteen-year-old niece, Alice, is not natural to dance, but it isn’t for the love of dance that she’s taking lessons, it’s more about the cute dancer and son of the top dance teacher, Nadia Petrova. Like mother, like daughter…Gianna’s sister took dance lessons when she was young, so she understands the competitive environment can be fierce. Case in point: The upcoming competition means the announcement of the dancer who will have a solo, but the girl chosen is seriously questioned with an upset stage mom making loud threats and demanding a change in favor of her daughter or else! Or else seems to be murder! Gianna discovers shattered glass all over the studio floor and Nadia dead on the floor. But, her ability to see, hear, and talk to ghosts is challenged since there’s no ghost in sight. “Hey, are those my fries?” Giana’s glimpses Nadia’s ghostly image appearing in the studio mirror, her rear view mirror, and the bathroom mirror, and it seems she’s now visible to more than herself.
Jennifer Fischetto’s eighth book in the Gianna Mancini Mystery series is quite entertaining with a little twist to the ghost whisperer mythology. Any ghost sighting is a challenge for Gianna, but now others can see and hear Nadia providing friends and family an up close and personal experience resulting in a bit of empathy for Gianna’s gift. Gianna’s brother is the lead detective, aware of the positive impact Gianna’s gift has, and although he doesn’t actually enlist her help, he doesn’t say “No.” The investigation exposed teenage angsts, jealousies, creative differences, and stage mom-sters, and with an additional homicide to muddy the waters, the finally curtain on this performance has a surprise MO, a bit of extra peril, and a satisfying arrest! Loved it!
It’s not all murder and ghosts! Fischetto’s writing is touched with humor and filled with descriptive language for the setting, characters, and emotions, fun banter helping to illustrate the diverse, multi-generational personalities, and realistic characters and interactions with which readers can identify from protective mothers, tight siblings, and romantic partners. The mystery was clever and the paranormal element is presented realistically, no juvenile hocus-pocus. However, it’s the characters that keep me coming back for more.
Disclosure: I received an ARC from Gemma Halliday Publishing. My review is voluntary with honest insights and comments.
Ghost whisperer Gianna Mancini watches her niece Alice's ballet practice at the dance studio for an upcoming competition. Gianna returns to the studio after practice to retrieve her forgotten cell phone. She discovers the dead body of the lead teacher Nadia with glass shards of a mirror all around her. Now Nadia's ghost is jumping from mirror to mirror, where not only Gianna can see her, but others as well. With the cutthroat moms of the studio's future ballerinas, would one of them be so upset that their daughter did not get the starring role enough to kill Nadia? Gianna aims to find out.
I love how others were able to see Nadia's ghost, erasing any doubts of Gianna's ghost whisperer abilities.
I received an ARC from the publisher for purposes of an unbiased review.
Thank you to Gemma Halliday Publishing for the review copy of Tutus, Fries, and Dead Guys by Jennifer Fischetto. This is the 8th addition to the Gianna Mancini cozy mystery series. I am absolutely loving this series!
In this addition, Gianna's niece Alice is attending dance class, but after Gianna observes a class, the instructor is murdered. I loved the added twist to the series. The character growth is so fun to see. I highly recommend this series to any paranormal cozy mystery fan.
Tutus, Fries & Dead Guys was a great cozy paranormal read bringing the warmth and heart of the Gianna Mancini Mysteries series, and another unique and intriguing mystery. Jennifer Fischetto's 8th entry into the well written series has a bit of a different feel but brings all the great things about the series and it is just as good as the rest of the books that always leave me looking forward to the next one. I adore the Mancini family and love spending time with them, but their fright-fest pranks are not my favorite things so I was delighted to see the tables turned for once. The fact that most of the family did not appreciate this little twist is so realistic and fun! I enjoyed getting to know the newest ghost and liked the twist connected with her. As always, I look forward to seeing where life takes us in Gianna's next adventure. I want to thank author Jennifer Fischetto for honoring my request to read an ARC of Tutus, Fries & Dead Guys. The book is going to be another winner in a delightful series.
Gianna Mancini sees ghosts and helps solve their murders and then pass over. But usually she is the only one who can see or hear the ghost. However, when her niece's dance teacher is murdered, an unusual occurrence changes all the rules. Gianna is still determined to solve the murder and help the dance students move forward because her niece (Alice) is a murder suspect.
This exciting book was quite different from others in the series. but some things never change. Gianna's close association with her family, the deli, and boyfriend Julian for instance. Great characters that show concern for one another, and of course good mysteries, make this another fun and exciting book. I love this book and the feeling of refreshing change in Gianna's unusual ghostly routines, and ingenious ideas.
Gianna and Izzy haven taken Alice to her dance lesson. Everyone was buzzing about the announcement of who would dance the solo this year. Their dance teacher, Nadia also has a son in the class who is very talented. The announcement of the soloist seems to take quite a few people by surprise. When Gianna returns to the studio to get her forgotten phone, she finds Nadia dead in the studio. If you’ve read other books in the series, this ghost does not conform to what you would expect. Gianna is investigating, as Alice seems to be lying about something and might be considered a suspect. Of course, all the Mancinis are involved in the story. I enjoyed the other books in the series and particularly enjoyed the new twist in this one.
This was a little different from the norm for Gianna, as the ghost whose murder she was trying to solve was stuck and only able to communicate through mirrors. She had great fun spooking everyone.
Solving this murder was especially important to Gianna, as Alice was caught up in it. Besides Alice, there were so many suspects that I couldn't figure out who the culprit really was. The story was emotional at times, and it always gets me when they head into the deli freezer to cross over.
I enjoyed this story. Another great addition to the series.
In a bit of a twist, several people see Nadia's ghost in Tutus, Fries & Dead Guys! Even the dance students are suspects in this murder. With a ghost jumping from one mirror to another, this well plotted mystery kept my attention to see what would happen next! Will the killer silence Gianna? Did Giana's niece murder the teacher? Everything will fall into place before the end. Do not miss this exciting mystery.
This was such a delightful read featuring my favorite ghost whisperer Gianna Mancinni, her family and friends and a great twisty mystery when her niece's dance instructor is killed and falls into a mirror. If you enjoy smartly written cozy mysteries, don't miss Tutus, Fries & Dead Guys, book 8 in the Gianna Mancinni Mystery series. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This is a great installment in the series. I love the small differences with this one. Screama Ballerina's ghost moves from mirror to mirror and is more available than previous ghosts. Gianna is involved because her niece attended the dance studio where Nadia (the teacher) was killed. Gianna solves another one. Crazy dance moms and teenagers everywhere, and still Gianna solves another one.
WOW this one took on a whole new dimension so to speak. I totally loved it. I was pretty sure who the killer was but just couldn’t figure out the motive. I hope we get to see more in this series very soon.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I love the characters and the story lines are a last different. I literally hold off on reading her new books because I know I'm going to have to wait a while for the next one.
I loved each & every book in this series, this one is no exception. The characters are quirky & fun. The story is well written. I look forward to more.
This was a great series: family, mystery, romance and ghosts. I think this was the best book so far. There was so much going on and the storylines blended together smoothly. It was hard to put down.
