Rate this book
When Haley is given a life-saving opportunity, she seizes it. The situation isn’t without risk of course, because her dad is not the type to be outplayed. But Haley doesn’t have another option, and she isn’t willing to fall victim anymore.
With her younger brother in-tow, she flees to New York City in a desperate attempt to escape her old life and start anew. She isn’t optimistic that she’ll find solace but is surprised by the kindness and sincerity of her new neighbors. As they become friends, she learns to trust people again, open her heart, and embrace her future.
Just when it feels like she can finally move beyond the horrors of her past, her streak of good fortune is once again shattered. Now, with even more to lose, she must fight harder against her dad’s brutality. He is back with a vengeance and the law is on his side. Lucky for Haley, she has new protectors who would do anything to keep her and her brother safe.
But will they be able to? Can Haley and her brother ever obtain true freedom?

I am a Romance Author of all couple types and a variety of sub-genres, including but not limited to: typical modern, LGBTQ+, reverse-harem, suspense, drama, and fantasy. Love doesn't discriminate and I enjoy giving my characters the happy ending they deserve, always. I hope to show the world that every person, no matter their past, their sexual orientation, who they identify as, their race, religion, or anything else that makes them uniquely, them---should not disqualify them from getting the perfect, fairy tale story.

In my opinion, love is the answer to life's purpose and there are so many beautiful ways to experience it, show it, give it, and receive it---even in the darkest of times.

If you are an author or poet and want to connect, I am always looking for writer friends, people to co-write with, and am willing to read and review your works too. If you are a reader, feel free to follow me on social media or contact me at lori.jophiel@gmail.com with any questions, reviews, concerns, or praises. I'd love to hear from you!

A bit about my personal life: I currently live in New England, USA. I stay at home with my three children when they are not in school. I am married to the love of my life who is in the Navy. I was born and raised in Michigan where I won the cliche lottery of marrying my high school sweetheart, whom I wouldn't trade for the world. I did not attend college, and although it would be fun to take a class or two on writing, I have no regrets for the life I've chosen so far.

My oldest and only daughter has the biggest heart and is the helper of the family, which I greatly appreciate because her two younger brothers are special needs. My middle son suffers from a sensory disorder, severe anxiety, mood disorder, and possibly more, but also has the most artistic, brilliant mind I've ever seen. My youngest son was born with Down Syndrome and that has been one of the greatest, unexpected blessings of my life. He radiates more joy and love than seems possible for one tiny human. These three kids have taught me so much about love, family, and life.

I attend a modern, open and accepting, Lutheran church because I personally believe in God and want to celebrate that, but I have a very open mind when it comes to my faith as well as the faith of others.
As for some interests? I love caffeine, books, buying books, reading, watching TV, and eating food. Not cooking though, just eating!

To Sum It Up:
Love should always win, and I hope my writing portrays that.

Quick read! Some drama with heavy abuse but the rest is lighthearted and cheesy in a happily ever after way. Fun characters and good start to a series.
