4.5 stars. This was an amazing splatterpunk story. Pandora is a truly tragic character, given a very unique ability to right some very wrongs. And the commentary that can be read into her with the public service announcements, criticisms on permiscuity, and trauma were all very well done. I loved how you were given full access to this girl’s upbringing, terrible and disgusting experiences with men at a young age, and how she evolved into this sadistic powerhouse in her adulthood. And you may be quick to judge her early on, but as things unfold, you become more sympathetic. Now Eric is just caught up as a side character of sorts to her adventure. An awkward, nerdy virgin who can barely make eye contact with a woman, let alone persue a relationship with one. Unless that comes in the form of Pandora, who has this dangerous ability, which won’t allow her to fully engage with her new partner. They also develop this Bonnie and Clyde dynamic, navigating their newfound bond, and running from the law, as they strive to work towards Pandora’s goal. And we soon find out that this very odd love story goes much deeper than any of us could have expected. I guess my biggest criticism, which I’ll do my best to not be too graphic about, while not spoiling anything, was their physical barriers. There are plenty of other sexual acts that would have been deemed safe for Pandora and Eric to engage in, not risking his life. So that glaring omission took away from some of the expected impact of their struggles throughout. But this is a top notch splatterpunk book, and I am very thrilled that I found Rick Wood here on Goodreads.
This was a lot of fun, and centres around a girl called Pandora who has a STI which, after sex makes men’s penis’ explode. She meets Eric, a religious, 26 year old virgin, who instantly falls in love and will do anything for her. This is a revenge tale due to her past, and together they trawl nightclubs and lure (un)lucky guys back for sex......if only she could have met my EX!
Lots of blood, gore, and sex, which makes this a fun ride.....excuse the pun!! 😆
This is a book about an attractive women who carries an STI that makes men's penises explode. But along the way she meets a young man who is desperate for love who is a virgin and hoping to find love someday.
This woman seeks out men that are not deserving of a good women which are taught a deadly lesson.
This is a fun, gory splattery read which I absolutely loved, a few gagging moments too. But the book does have an underlying deeper message to it written in between the lines, and does throw up questions the way our society is.
This author's Blood Splatter Books are getting more messed up and gory and gasp out loud moments which are cracking. This book is definitely not for the weak stomached and not everyone's cuppa tea but if you definitely like your gory books this is for you, I personally couldn't turn the pages quick enough.
I even ended up coming up with little funny rhymes (Ruin-a-dickasaurus) & (Killer-a-cockasaurus) which made me chuckle lol as I said a fun horror read
An great little read with a strong bloody story. Eric is a young man that doesn't get anywhere with women. Then he meets someone that takes an interest and his head in turned. But does she really love him like he loves her. Secrets are told and he gets to learn hers and even join in. He will do anything for love, Anything! Pandora is a hurt young woman with an Sti that she eagerly passes around. But landlord's Sti isn't just any normal sti, this is a deadly one and men are hurt in a way only their worst nightmares can imagine. What caused Pandora to be this way you can only guess, as all events and horrors come to a crescendo and the reason for all is revealed and revenged. This is one disturbing read and I can see men loving about in their seats as they read this. But the story shows how things could turn around and how things so small can also mean such alot. A fascinating insight into how a hurt young woman sees things from her point of view, and how a young insecure man feels from his point also. A great read, definitely recommend.
This was a great splatterpunk read filled with gross and extreme scene. Do you remember the online question Bear or Man well imagine if the question was Bear or Woman. This story was exactly that! We follow Pandora a sexy woman that prowls on man and has a STI that makes p€nises explodes after they have s€x. The story is filled with phrases women hears all the time : Don’t walk alone at night, don’t wear any seductive clothes etc. but this time these phrases are for the men to protect themselves from the women prowling on them.
It’s a must read for any splatterpunk reader. The only thing that I didn’t like in the book is that the narrative change from 1st person to 3rd person and I just discovered that I don’t really like a 3rd person narrative but that’s me!
I’m SO glad I pushed through the ridiculously silly opening scene and read this fantastic book. This book perfectly depicts what society would do if men have to experience the world the way women do. The writing isn’t Pulitzer Prize winning, but I felt like that added to the charm. Pandora is probably the best female protagonist I’ve read about in the splatterpunk genre. She’s complicated, intelligent, and cunning. I couldn’t help but sympathize with her mission after we’re told what lead her to that point. And that plot twist … wow! If you like “good for her!” stories, this is the perfect book for you.
Great storyline , I felt compassion for Eric , and had mixed feelings about Pandora. I have been a fan of Rock Wood and read all his books . Love them Well done on this book.
to start, i do not care for the writing. i found it to be very tacky and cliche, i just didn’t care for it. not my style to read. i also just did not like this book. going in i thought this was going to be this awesome story about a woman who takes what she wants and serves while she’s doing it. instead, most of this book is the spineless main loser boo-hooing and talking about how scared he is. it just is not fun, and i wanted FUN! i’ve read screwed up books before that i had fun with and that i often think about because they were so gruesome and so addicting, but this book was neither of those things. it’s the same gore over and over again and the same heavy handed role reversal messaging. it’s the kind of thing that, at this stage in my life as a woman, i am sooo sick of seeing men doing. every woman knows what it’s like to be a woman who walks down the street scared, and i feel like it’s so blatant when men write and book that says, “hey, other men, take a look at what woman go through :( isn’t that sad?” and it’s like yeah okay thank you, but shut up. i’m so sick of reading about it all the time, please focus on the maiming and the torture and less of the messaging. i’m glad most people liked this, but i say reimage your book cause this wasn’t fun and i couldn’t wait to get it over with. it just wasn’t giving “sex blood” honestly :/
Having read and loved Shutter House and this Book is Full of Bodies, I expected to like this, but I didn't expect it to be as deep and important as it is. It grabs on.to a very heavy subject of how women are treated by men all over the world all the time and uses satirical exaggeration to turn it upon the men instead, which out the issue under a glowing hot spotlight and show how insane reality really is.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Rick Wood himself, and I cannot recommend enough to do the audio version if you have the option! It's narrated as it's supposed to read 😆
💥 Please proceed with caution in regards to this read as it is an extreme horror story and NOT for the faint of heart 💥

She is an attractive woman who carries an STI that makes men’s penises explode.
He is a dorky twenty-six-year-old virgin desperate for someone to love.
One day, they meet.
What could go wrong?
I really loved the gore and guts of this story. I also thought its premise was pretty unique. It had the perfect amount of blood splatter and violence but unfortunately I don't think the actual story line itself was for me. I do love Wood's writing style though I am really looking forward to the newest release in the series! 3 🌟
