Jess Stout is the Author of The Delta’s Daughter, the sequel Rise of a Queen, book 3 – The Gladiator Wolf King, and the latest in the series Hunji: A Broken Wolf & The Last Witch of Andora – book 4.

Born in the USA and raised in the United Kingdom, she is now a wife and mother of two, living back in the USA, with a passion for writing and animals.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Jess was an entrepreneur with her own printing business. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and most of all, curling up with a good book and her three dogs, Venus, Apollo Creed, and Atlas.

Since starting this writing journey, I have done everything wrong. With many twists and turns in my life these past three years, I was never able to take the time to dive into what I needed to do as an indie author.

With tragedy striking our hearts and our lives towards the end of 2024, I took months off and away from work, my passion (writing). Then came the holidays, and there didn't seem to be enough days and hours in the week to dedicate my time to writing, editing, and publishing my work. Everything seemed like such a rush.

Finally, in January 2025, I found my feet, my rhythm, and my drive again to finish what I had started to make room for upcoming projects and create more thrilling adventures through the power of storytelling.

At first, I dove headfirst into completing my goals, but quickly realized I needed to step back and take a deep breath if I was going to make my books one of the best reads I could give my readers.

Started reading this on GoodNovel (so expensive to attempt reading it that way!) but was happy to discover it available on Kindle. I really enjoyed the story premise and plot, the characters and drama. The occasional typos and timeline inconsistencies were a bit annoying but overall didn’t take away from the scope of the story. I look forward to reading the 2nd book, also found on kindle, next.

fantastic book

A few plot mistakes (someone being dead and then they are alive again- her mates sister??) but the majority of the book was fantastic, well written and captivating. The story had rape and torcher within, but it was extremely well written drawing you in and making you fall in love with the characters even more.

This book is very very short, ending with chapter 7. I anticipate the entire series could easily be 1 book. I’m hopefully to find the rest of the series in a library since I can’t see paying for such short books. The cost value and reading value just doesn’t match.
As for the content, it’s good. I basically just got the background of the story.

I finish this book speechless and heartbroken. Yet, I loved every single second of my reading!

The world-building, the writing, the characters? Everything is amazing.

The universe here is complex yet easy to understand. The storyline is wonderfully thought and written. The characters all have their purposes and are either lovable or annoying, which is in my opinion the best kind of writing!

I felt with the characters throughout their journey, sometimes smiling and laughing, and others crying. The best thing to happen to me whenever I read a book!

The ending leaves me heartbroken and with my jaw-dropped. I can’t wait to read book 2 of this series!

I read this as a subscription based novel, which I could not wait for the next edition. I have now read all four of the novels in this series.
A very enjoyable experience.

Do you like dark shifter romantasies? This has mystery, fantasy, shifters, and romance!

Lamia’s bond with the prince, the tension of possible mate bonds, and the secrets tied to her bloodline gave the story a lot of emotional pull.

The world-building is full of mystery—there are prophecies, political schemes, and even the sense that her wolf form holds deeper meaning than anyone realizes. It definitely feels like the first step into a bigger series with more to uncover.

The stakes are high from the beginning. Kidnappings, betrayals, and constant danger kept me on edge, and I liked that the story didn’t shy away from darker moments.

Lamia has to prove herself again and again, not just in strength but in heart, and that made the journey feel worth following.

(Readers note: 650 pgs, spicey, some language, and some darker elements)

The author has a unique voice that I both enjoyed, but at times took some getting used to so that it didn't draw me out of the story. For example, the castle is described like a hotel and a royal may use the word "kickass". In general, I found it so different from my normal reads that it was amusing and enjoyable. Good job.

I’m not sure what to say. This book I found confusing, i haven’t finished it yet but I’m not sure I can because the more I read the more confusing it’s getting, so many different POVs so much dialog in between most irrelevant or just plain dull.

My first thought when I got half way through was “wtf is going on” followed by this is so stupid but I just can’t bring myself to stop reading.

Could easily have condensed this book to half of what it is by taking out the mountains of back story that’s completely irrelevant and the multiple points of the same scene, do we need to know 3/4 POV about the same topic ? Honestly I’ve skimmed most of it because I have no interest in reading the same thing twice

Will persevere until the end. It’s a decent story line just wish it wasn’t so full of multiple things going on, the FMC has so many things mixed in it’s hard to keep up and because of that it’s draining

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed The Delta’s Daughter. Lamia’s journey from hopeful daughter to fierce shifter was gripping and emotionally rich, and the blend of romance, danger, and world-building kept me fully engaged from start to finish. The way the story balances heartache, strength, and surprising twists makes it a standout in the fantasy genre. I can definitely see this series captivating many readers!

Great work, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next,

From the first chapter, I was hooked. Lamia’s journey from hopeful Delta-to-be to a fierce survivor is gripping, heartbreaking, and empowering. The bond between her and Kellen gives the story a romantic core, while the darker twists raise the stakes to another level.
