I had read one series by this author and Book 4 of that series was good enough to make me want to read more. I enjoy that these are a short listen and I can easily listen to a couple in a day, but they are so boring. NOTHING exciting happens and the MC makes the dumbest decisions.
Book 1 of this series was okay. Book 2-4 was literally so boring. I was cutting grass while listening to book 3 and I was so bored. Normally when I listen to a good book while cutting grass, it makes it go by so fast but THIS THIS series drug on so long. Tbh, I don't know which I hated more, the grass cutting in this 80 degree heat or this series.
So excited to get into Kate Bold book 4 Not Her. I am enjoying the series and the development of Camille Grace as an FBI agent and as a character. Gotta admit that her character did not change much and the case seemed to be solved too easily. I would have liked it to been stretched out a little more by making the clues harder to deduct or perhaps make the culminating struggle more detailed. I enjoy how Bold continues to give up little pieces about Camille’s sister, which makes me want to dive into the next one hoping to learn more. I will be reading book 5 when it’s released!
Camille is troubled by the news she learned regarding her sister while her stranded relationship with her father does not move forward. The case she has to deal with is deep in the Mississippi river and she is getting even more reckless every time she believes she is just about to catch the culprit. Her mind is divided between the case and her sister which endangers her life and that of her partner. Not Her could receive a 5 stars rating if the book were better word proofed.
The story line was good but it still lacked the excitement that makes it exciting to read. Camille is a little wishy washy, she doesn't trust her partner Palmer enough to tell what she is doing.. Then there is this family shit ,could you please get to tell what she went through as a child. What her father did with the pigs, why he went to jail, why her mother left and why her sister left get to it already.
3.3 Another chapter in this series that isn’t terribly unique to the others. I still enjoy the main character, and I like that these stories are short & to the point.
The audiobooks are difficult to listen to as the narrator uses just obnoxious voices to for the characters. The main character is very quiet. Her partner is very loud and everybody else is squeaky or sounds comically fake. The book itself is good. The audiobook needs some polish.
FBI Agents Camille Grace and Palmer are sent to a rural community in Southern Louisiana. Two bodies have been found in the river with no apparent connection other than the way they were killed. Since it is tourist season Agent Grace and Palmer are tasked with finding the killer quickly. This is a fast paced page turner. i would recommend this series if you enjoy this genre.
Camille Grace is a tough, smart, determined, and sometimes impulsive detective. Kate Bold doesn’t rush the social relationships of her protagonists and it works for her. The mystery is intense but no grizzly, and surprisingly tight, short but complete. There’s a plot-arch in this series that’s so well developed I’ve got to know what’s what and that keeps me reading!
Just when it starts getting good, it ends, and it's time for a new book. Another story taking place in the river. Her and Palmer are working well as partners. But she's always the star. She always catches the bad guy usually single handily.
Good read! I'm enjoying the back story along with each case!
I like how each book is similar, yet different. I also like the underlying story with the characters that also has a mystery along with it. Each new book gives you a little more. I'm really enjoying this series.
