A brilliant scientist and programmer, William lives for his work, but when he recruits a young bioinformatician to help him decipher the gods’ genetic blueprints, he find himself smitten with more than just her brain.
A PhD at nineteen, Kaia is considered a prodigy and expects a bright future in academia. But when William invites her to join his secret research team, she accepts for reasons that have nothing to do with her career objectives. William’s promise to look into her best friend’s disappearance is an offer she just can’t refuse.
I am so happy that William is finally getting his story told!! He does so much to keep his family safe with his inventions throughout the saga. The Fates truly are enjoying bringing his mate to him!! Kaia is so sweet, I cannot wait to see how her story unfolds and hear why she has this male presence!
Not only do we get this wonderful beginning to William and Kaia without a long time to wait, but we also get some closure on how he felt with Hannah. With them getting together so quickly I cannot wait to see what adventures lay ahead for these 2.
THEN you have a sprinkle of Jade in this book as well?!?! So we will get to know what happened with the women Kra-ell, and she noticed Emmett, oh my I can’t wait to see how this all plays out over the rest of the Dark Whispers trilogy!
I was lucky to read an advanced copy of this book however the review and thoughts on the story are my own and freely given. This saga is truly one of my favorites as 62 books plus and I’m still anxiously awaiting the next!

I am enjoying seeing William finally meeting his equal. Throughout most of the series we see him as a pudgy computer geek that chooses to wear glasses even when he doesn’t need them. With his newfound exercise regime and weight loss he is now coming into himself and how handsome he is. His new found love he’s a bit of a firecracker which should be interesting for the series. I do get frustrated with how these characters are so dependent and make such an issue about their families and their families being involved. I am not sure if it’s because the author is trying to Incorporate the families into the village. But as far back as Josephine and Cassie, these have been very needy people who don’t wanna let go of their family. Fortunately worked out! I look forward to the rest of this couples beginning love stages!
Dark Whispers from the Past KU 340 pgs **** 7/2/22 William & Kaia
4 stars. The reason for the 4 stars was the beginning chapters were a little boring and drug a bit but once Kaia entered the picture, it was a 5-star read. This was a great story and I loved William and Kaia. The anticipation for the next page was awesome. The flow was great, chemistry great, did take a while to get to the sex parts but the story was good even before those parts. William turned out to be much hotter than we thought he was, he has a very sexy side to him that hasn’t been revealed before his book. Kaia is very young but also middle aged in her decision-making abilities. She is fun yet completely involved in the research she is doing and like William, at times has to be reminded to stop working, eat, sleep and play. They are a great couple and I can’t wait for the next 2 books with them.
I didn't expect to love this one as much as I did. I was never really interested in William. He seemed to soft and nerdy for me, but boy was I wrong about him. I was surprised he actually showed a more dominant and sexier version of what we got from him so far. The story also hints at many more dormants which will be interesting, how and with whom they will be paired. Eric??? Can't wait to see, if he is a dormant as it seem in this book. We also get a little bit about Jade and her tribe. Things are enfolding more and more. Can't wait to see, where the author is going with all this.
Conclusion:
I was pleasantly surprised about William's more dominant alpha side and the story was bringing out so many new twists that opens up opportunities for many more books to come.
The build up to this on seemed proportionate. It helped that the different POV chapters outside of the main couple actually had relevant information for the most part.
I’m glad that William didn’t drag it out until the next book, but I strongly feel that the big reveal was only done quicker due to the amount of words the book had reached. If only she had done that on previous books and left all the bs out of the story.
Don’t get me wrong, I skipped some of Darlene’s paragraphs because it was the same crap.
I think Kaia’s entire family is made up of Dormants and Phoenix is about to get a new bestie. And the twins will bring some competition to “junior” and Ethan for the girls favor.😉
See my notes and highlights on Goodreads. Happy reading!
Took a while to get into this book, I’d rather have had it stick only to William and his new and budding relationship with Kaia. William has been a great part of the CotG’s stories and it’s great that he’s been taking care of himself more so that he’s more desirable than before. Kaia is 19, which makes him hesitant to have a relationship with her, but they’re both drawn to the other. Moving over to Jade made me wish Lucas had resolved Williams story and then focused on the interesting stuff about the disappearance of the colony in China and what happened to them.
This was so worth the wait. And, yet again, the storyline is riveting and constantly changing, while introducing new characters that leave you wanting to know more and more about them. I honestly wasn’t looking forward to this plot line, but the problem with the writing is, it’s just too good. So no matter what you might think could be boring, for not following the other characters, just means it’s going to be wonderful, precious or filled with intrigue and your heart racing. I can’t wait to read more about Kaia and William!
Nice Guy William Gets His Girl! After feeling a bit romantically overlooked in the series, William comes into his own in this book as the romantic lead and it feels so good! We witness his delightful transformation into a lover. His mate is one of a kind in many remarkable ways that add extra excitement to this book. I love I.T. Lucas' interweaving pre-existing storylines (including Jade, Darlene and Toven) that strengthen the sense of all 62 books contributing to one beautiful over-arching story and has me more than usually excited for what happens next!
Yeah, I am so happy William has met he's possible true love mate, there's an instant attraction between them the moment they met. She may be younger than him but let's face it these are immortals were dealing with so that won't take a lot. But Kia is special and William certainly noticed her specialness 😉😘 their banter flows, every hurdle William puts up Kia comes along to knock it down. So knows what she wants and what she really wants is William. Is her family gonna be the problem though when they come back for a stay. I Hope Not!!!!
And the story continues. Although I enjoy the series, for some reason this particular story is slightly off center and seems to be mistaking a relationship between 2 individuals seem irrational. William is the senior partner to Mia and yet his confessions are revealing more than they should about the Clan thereby putting the Clan at risk. Is that a security protocol breach?
I am finding it hard to express my joy and addiction to this series. No matter when i read other books whilst i wait for the new book. I clearly remember the whole story from the beginning. I began with Kian and Sissy story. Then i started from book 1. I am held captive the action, love, trials of charactors. Falling in love with each of them as i get to know them.
So yes i definitly, hand over my heart swear I recommend I. T. Lucas Children of the Gods!
This series is getting towards more aliens than immortals, not sure how this plays out. Trying to think from book 1 to now who Edgar is?? That's something I have to pull from the recesses of my brains to get Kaia's character. Interesting indeed. William is getting his chance at love, let's see if he and Kaia decipher the code that is have some impact on humanity for good or bad. What are the Odus and their intent towards humans?
Finally, William gets his story. The fates have chosen well for William, she's smart and grounded. Kaia, is a young prodigy with gaining her PhD at only 19, but what she values most in life is her family. We also hear from the infamous Jade in this book, it's interesting to get an insight on what happened to her and the other females. I'm intrigued on where her story is going. I.T. Lucas is extremely talented in keeping this series alive, and interesting. I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
The Children of the Gods paranormal romance books are a wonderful summer read. This latest book, #62 "Dark Whispers From The Past" was really enjoyable. **SPOILER ALERT** Seeing William FINALLY find his soulmate made me so happy, and introducing Darlene to a new potential mate, and more potential dorments is exciting. Can't wait for the next book in August!!
This book was such a good read - the suspense and romance is so gripping that I can't put it down until it is finished. I just love to read about the Immortal Clan don't need to give their names I love them all and their own stories. Looking forward to #63 I know I.T. Lucas will not disappoint me - keep them coming love your story line.
I was one of the lucky ones that didn't come across this author and these books until way late. I concern myself lucky because I got to read them all back to back. Now I'm caught up and I have to wait! 🙁 I have got so much pleasure out of reading these books. I feel like I know all of the players in the storyline. And obviously I can't wait until August 13th For the next book!!! Please keep them coming!!!!!!!!!!!!
I keep waiting to get bored with this series but once more I'm left waiting for the next installment! I try to wait for a couple of books to come out so I can spend a weekend reading away, but I end up reading the newest book and impatiently waiting for the next. Luckily I.T .L is not only a fantastic author, she is incredibly fast and us fans don't have to wait long! Thank you for providing us dorky and nerdy adults intriguing and sensual entertainment!
Finally, William gets his chance for a true love mate. Working on a top secret project William hires Kaia to decipher a manuscript written in the ancient language.
These books have become my drug of choice . They keep me enthralled for hours , and keep me waiting on teatherhooks till the next one comes out . I love the details , without getting too bogged down in them .
Love this series. Never gets formulaic or boring. A must read for fantasy fans alike. it lucas spins each trilogy enough that we see the love story, as well as the progression of the clan issues. I also like that she brings back previous characters.
I always love these stories….she’s absolutely amazing if you haven’t Read her books before start from book one. Loving William story a real page turner as he finally finds love. Can’t wait to find out her backstory of who is the spirit that lives within her.
This series is great and each book is beautiful. I have had months of entertainment because the books flow and the characters are very well developed. Each time I reread them I am unable to put it down till finished. Thank you.
William finally meets his mate in 19 year old girl genius Kaia. The larger story continues to unfold with work starting on the translation of how to build the Odus.
This book was so exciting I read.it in two days. I'm so thrilled William has found love. But I'm a!so bummed because book 63 that is coming up is the last book of this series. It was a pleasure to have found I T Lucas Children of Lesser God .
I can’t stop reading these books! They are addictive. I love Isabel’s writing and the different plots in each novel. I’m in love with almost all of the characters. They are unique, fascinating and have an inner good that is missing nowadays.
Dark Whispers From The Past, book 62 of The Children Of The Gods series by I.T. Lucas brings is Williams book. William is a favorite of the clan. Be doesn't believe he's anything special. Will he recognize a mate when he meets her? Dive into find out. It's quite a story.
It's about time we get to see more of the super smart, geeky side of the immortals! Extra security measures, extra brainiacs, extra romance on the way, woot woot! Five stars, and couldn't put it down :)
I appreciate stories with smart characters and assertive females, and this book did not disappoint. I always loved William’s character and I think that Kaia’s character is perfect for him. In fact her whole family and uncle seems like they may be dormants
Ughhh, these books need to be longer and release faster!
I'm caught up and waiting for book 63! I can read these books in one sitting and wish they were longer! I always pre-order the next one but it's too long of a wait! I read a lot of books in between these and always have to refresh the story before I start a new one in the back of the last book! The story is very engaging and I recommend starting at the beginning. You won't be disappointed!
