The Consistency Pill, written for entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses, advances the hypothesis that the most important factor to seeing the desired growth is simply showing up, day in and day out. While the idea that we need to stay on course may not be revolutionary, many of us still struggle mightily to do so. The book is dedicated to laying out strategies for putting forth consistent, sustained effort.
The Consistency Pill is easy to swallow, so to speak. It is a quick read, and contains many valuable pieces of advice, from ways to set yourself up for success to what to do if and when you get off track.
At times, the writing felt a bit repetitive, and by the end, the numerous examples drawn from the author's own life started to be more off-putting than inspiring - I was reminded a bit of Brent from The Good Place, though certainly nowhere near as extreme.
That said, this isn't a book one comes to looking for great literature, and when judged in relation to what it sets out to do, I found it largely successful, and certainly worth the investment of the few hours it took to read.
I'm grateful to the author and to BookSirens for providing me with a review copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Happened upon this book just as I made a career change choice and the timing was perfect. Going from a “regular job” to a 100% commission based job is terrifying, esp for someone who has not been consistent or disciplined. This book has outlined what success feels and acts like and how, specifically, to achieve it. I’m still in the transition and will become a full time commission based employee at the end of the month but my terror is slightly less now that I feel I have the right tools to help me succeed.
Absolutely loved this book. Felt very inspired by the author and the power of change, commitment, and consistency. For most, it is a hard pill to swallow. And yet one with many beneficial side effects. Knowing that, through consistency, your whole life can change is always liberating. Great tips for anyone looking to make a conscious transformation.
Useful and good info but narrow focus on sales and the examples are overly specific; I think more generic examples would be more universally understood and adaptable to individual needs/preferences/creativity.
Thank you Simon for sharing your stories in this book. It was really inspiring and motivating. Keeping your eye on the prize everyday is easier now after thinking about your journey.
I am all about systems and Simon doesn’t disappoint! Many notes taken and this is a book that you can come back to over and over as you apply the information presented.
This book breaks down how to accomplish consistency. He does not sugarcoat how hard consistency can be. He is honest and real about the struggles that can arise when we try to be consistent. This book is a must-read for anyone who struggles with consistency.
Not bad author is tiny bit hypocritical in the given context (he is no longer consistently working in his industry...?) however the concepts are sound.
I actually reread this book and have gone back thru to highlight some big points Simon Chan made. Consistency is so key to growth in any goals…personal or business related
Finally got the headspace and peace to finish and be more consistent. Life had been chaotic, to be honest, I'm often frazzled and overwhelmed, which often leads to frequently shutting down to tend to my mental health.
Something I read (a quote) recently got me realigned to my north star, and I am now picking up and trying to be more consistent and trying to be 1% better every day...and I am working on changing my environment so that I can do what I should be doing to grow my online business and get over my fears and limiting beliefs.
This book condenses some of the books and teachings of great teachers and authors on my to-read list. I'm grateful not only to Simon for passing these teachings to us but his own insights and experience enhanced the teachings found immensely.
