The mission is simple; Claim the god-made Gate, and use the power to end the age-long war between the Vampires and Lycans. Or, it should have been simple. When Tayen arrives at the front, more than ready to fight at her brother’s command, the last thing she’s expecting to find is her mate. Not even the power of a god can keep her away when she finds him. But something’s wrong when his wolf won’t recognize hers. Time is running out to claim the Gate and save her mate before the Vampires can win the power to end their entire species. To finish the mission, she’ll have to face the demons of her past, accept her mate’s secrets, and come to terms with what may lay within the Gate.
This book was outside of my usual genre, and I still really enjoyed it which is a testament to the author's skill. She sets up a complex world with believable, flawed characters. Even when I was mentally screaming at them, I still wanted them to find happiness. The spice was on point, rough and passionate. I'll be looking out for more of this author's work, for sure.
Wow. Just wow. The story itself was so compelling that I could not put it down. Fated mates with spice done so right. I can't wait to read more of this author's works! Her world has such rich depth to it. Easily one of my favourite books.
Tayen, a take-no-shit Alpha, arrives at the front lines of the war against the vampires, ready to tear the head off of whichever incompetent commander her brother placed in charge. When she gets there, she finds her MeiltReina, her goddess-given mate. But there's one problem: he doesn't recognize her.
Ahiga has run himself ragged trying to take the Gate in the war against the vampires. Now he has to account for his failure while fighting a forbidden attraction to the newly arrived Alpha and hiding a secret that could destroy them all.
This book is chock full of spice and will have you on the edge of your seat. I can't wait to see more from Elizabeth Myrva's Aphotic World.
Well written, with plenty of well done spicy scenes. Laughed out loud at times and definitely enjoyed the characters. Can't wait to read the next book. I have so many questions and must know the answers! When does book two come out?! I am definitely hooked
I waffled between 3 and 4 stars so I'll just go with 3.5 rounded up. I was left wanting a little more in all aspects of this book. I was actually interested in seeing what was going to happen with the gate and the Church, however, turns out I have to read book 2 seeing as this one glossed over all of it. The epilogue skips ahead a full year with vague events and zero answers. The romance was front and center here which I'm usually game for however not if its at the expense of the rest of the book. I didn't love the relationship between the two MC's either, again, I was just wanting a little more relationship & character development.
Um I’m not sure what happened I guess it ended on a cliffhanger but I’m not motivated to find out that happens. It has so interesting ideas but there isn’t enough explanation on wtf is going on. I get they want you to read more but it’s too vague to be inspiring.
