The hospital has seen it all. New life coming into the world, welcomed with tears of joy. Lives that have run their course now leaving it, bound for whatever comes next, causing tears of sorrow and grief. The pain of physical and emotional trauma. Wounds that may never be healed. Dedicated medical professionals, doing their best to put broken people back together again.
When the hospital closed its doors for the final time…
When the last patient had moved on…
When the lights went out and darkness fell…
…something remained.
Join Richard Estep (TV’s Haunted Hospitals, Paranormal 911, Paranormal Night Shift, and Destination Fear) as he investigates the haunting of the infamous South Pittsburg Hospital.
I'm a 48-year-old child who has no plans to ever actually grow up.
I make my living as a paramedic, clinical educator, for a busy hospital system and work as a street medic in a 911 system.
In my free time, I serve as the director of the Boulder County Paranormal Research Society, and investigate claims of haunted properties, people, and objects on both sides of the Atlantic. I love to read, particularly SF/Fantasy, history and historical fiction, the paranormal, and basically anything that piques my interest. I appear on the TV shows Haunted Hospitals, Paranormal 911, Paranormal Night Shift, Haunted Case Files, and several others.
I am an avid video gamer, table-top gamer, and love to build Lego. My wife and I are the proud humans of five adopted rescue cats and one smelly but adorable dog.
I am not rating this book because I went into it expecting it to be something it never claimed to be. I was looking for straight up ghost stories and it was clearly not that. Totally my fault.
Paranormal Investigator and author of this book, Richard Estep and his paranormal crew explore and interact with spirits from a closed down and abandoned hospital called "Old South Pittsburg Hospital" (OSPH for short and located in Tennessee) as they wanted to find out for themselves if spirits and bad energies were trapped inside the hospital.
Thoughts:
This book goes deep into details of the old hospital as the author and investigator, Richard Estep interviews staff from when the hospital was active and when it was starting to go downhill as Estep wanted to know what caused the hospital to be considered haunted. Estep also does quite a bit of debunking which means he makes sure that the rumors he has heard about the place are in fact rumors or if the rumors are true.
The writing style of this author just flows along as he tells the experiences of what others have gone through and then the story kicks up a notch when Estep and his team set out to investigate the hospital. The first 30% or so of the book is mostly interviews with staff that once had worked there then the last part of the book is all about Estep and his crew with their experiences of their paranormal investigation. This is my second book that I have read by Estep and look forward to reading more of his true paranormal accounts of haunted locations. Giving this book four "Boo Spooky" stars!
Awesome as ever! I love your books. My next book is fox hollow and I can't wait to start it. Looking forward to your next book. Thank you for continuing to write.
I have always been intrigued by OSPH. It's probably on my bucket list of haunted places to visit so I loved Richard's book about the place and his own investigation of it.
This was an extremely informative and intense haunting investigation. I loved every minute of this book! Richard Estep has a wonderful gift for this particular kind of writing. His narrative makes you feel as if you're actually there. I love his blend of history, medical information and his in-depth telling of the actual investigation. His books are my favorites when it comes to true hauntings! I've read nearly all of them and look forward to future investigations!
