Wasserman es un perro. Talia le pone este nombre el día en que lo recoge agonizando en la calle, y con sus cuidados logra curarlo y sacarlo del estado de terror en el que se encontraba. Cuando el dueño del perro pretende recuperarlo (Wasserman tiene dotes muy especiales e impropias de un perro...) se precipitan varias amenazas sobre Talia, que con la ayuda de sus padres y de su amigo Guidi las hará

frente.

Quelle histoire touchante! Je réalise après coup que c’est un livre jeunesse! L’écriture est si racée, le contexte si brutal que je ne m’en étais pas aperçu. Kaniuk ne prend pas les ados pour des illettrés.
Je l’ai lu presque d’une traite. J’ai été bouleversée par ce roman basé sur un fait divers. C’est riche en exploration de la psyché humaine. Quelques personnages loufoques, atypiques viennent ponctuer le fil en ajoutant des couleurs inusitées. Même la postface est fascinante, il y raconte l’origine du roman et son rapport avec ses propres chiens.
Bref pour les gens qui aiment les chiens, allez y, savourez ce texte qui déploie plusieurs avenues où il est à la fois agréable et angoissant de se promener.

This book made me feel nothing besides bored, and slightly concerned for the dog's wellbeing, the same way I'd be concerned about any animal/living thing that has been abused.
The best way to describe it as a book is to say it feels pointless. A lot of stuff happens and is talked about, but Talia feels so static and things keep happening to her, not because of her.
She keeps saying she's lonely, like at some point she decided that's how she is, and how she will always be. She's very much a "not like other girls" type of person, and that makes some sense given when and by who when the book was written, but still doesn't make for a pleasant reading experience.
Every women in the book is boring and inaffectual, or evil to a ridiculous extent. Every men, aside of the one bad dude™, is the greatest person to ever walk, complete with reasons to feel sorry for him, alongside reasons to think he's awesome.
Everyone is flat.
The plot is both highly imaginative - with a man able to see through walls, and a girl able to see things that occur far away from her - and yet tries to ground itself with talks of jail and prisoners. These don't mesh well together.
I do think the writing style is distinct, and makes for an interesting read. The descriptions are decently creative. This could not save this book.

Rammer tonen af, at et stort barn skriver, meget rent. Det betyder, at der intet er om Palæstina, og at det kun er det nære, man rigtig hører om. Det er et valg, der er gennemført. Og så er det i øvrigt en hyggelig historie med store følelser i spil

Muy buen libro. Es envolvente la forma de escritura, la comparación de la vida con el universo, el temor por el descubrimiento y la comparación de la humanidad. Es realmente uno de mis libros favoritos.

Una novela muy ligera, en menos de un día la terminé de leer. Si eres animalista este libro es para ti y te va a conmover.
Buscaré por todos los medios leer más obras de este autor.

Hay muchas historias sobre perros pero este libro va mas allá. No solo es sobre el animal en sí, sino también sobre su entorno, la empatía y el amor por sobre todas las cosas. Sin embargo, no era necesario recurrir a tantos golpes bajos para resaltar este tipo de realidad que, si bien existe, parece hasta ficticia/falseada/irreal.
Puedo entender porque la jefa de prensa me lo recomendó pero no fue para mí.

A classical teenager book, dealing with first love and other struggles, set in Isreal. The subject may be common, but the setting and the writing are interesting and outstanding. Talia fights for the abandoned dog Wasserman, and her friend, who jions her fight, may be more than just a friend.
I read this as a young teenager, and I think I liked it.
