Boo and Baa are raking leaves when they decide to get a wheelbarrow to take the leaves to the compost. After oiling the wheel, the wheelbarrow "meows" when it moves and when it stands still. Boo and Baa discover it's not the wheelbarrow meowing but a cat up in the tree. They try different methods to get the cat out of the tree. Eventually, the cat comes down but Boo gets stuck in the tree. Baa works out a way to get Boo out of the tree.

Originally published in Denmark, the translation is by Joan Sandin. The reader is introduced to a few lines of texts and full page, colorful illustrations. It is fun to watch the cat's progress as the story evolves. This book would interest preschool to first grade.

hard to express how much I LOVE all the Boo and Baa books! There is something about the translation that seems slightly off that just adds to the charm and humor. my three y o thought they were hilarious, too

Boo and Baa are raking leaves when they notice a cat up in a tree. They decide to help the cat get down. They try to lure her with sardines, make a bridge, and a ladder. Eventually Boo gets stuck in the tree too. The story is told primarily through the illustrations with one or two lines of text per page. The illustrations cover the whole page. They are colorful and detailed. Boo and Baa Have Company received a starred review from Horn Book Guide.

The book is pretty funny and I enjoyed the twee, humorous illustrations. There were moments when I found the narrative a little choppy... and the ending felt a little off to me--but I did enjoy the story.

Especially that the cat causes so much chaos for Boo and Baa. It felt true to life in that respect.

4* art
4* story

Oh this is a funny one. Squirt and I like to follow the cat's capers on each page. Little details make it special - like the different sandwiches, the falling into a pile of leaves, the cat coming in after everyone's asleep. So fun to read together.

Something really weird happens when Boo brings out the wheelbarrow to collect the leaves. It "meows" when he pushes it. Baa notices that is "meows" when it's not being pushed, too.

You, the story performer, point to the cat pictured in the tree and tap the page. The children love knowing what's going on before the characters notice.

The nice thing about this book is that it's not really about getting or having a pet. It's a little, ordinary adventure that all of them wouldn't mind having.

Olaf Landstrom is a genius.

Dexter (5yo) loved this book! It's a simple story of two sheep who discover a cat in their tree and their attempts to help it out.

Great illustrations.

Buu ja Bää eivät olleet meille entuudestaan tuttuja hahmoja, mutta tätä sarjaahan täytyy käydä äkkiä hakemassa kirjastosta lisää!

Buu ja Bää ovat meillä uusia tuttavuuksia. Tässä syksyyn sopivassa kirjassa he haravoivat lehtiä pihalla, kun he huomaavat kissan puussa. He yrittävät auttaa kissaa alas, mutta seurauksena onkin monenlaisia toilailuja. Tämän kirjan jälkeen meillä on leikitty paljon "eksynyttä kissaa puussa".

Käsittämättömästi vangitsee levottomimmankin pikkuyleisön. Suosittelen syksyiseen satutuokioon.

This was just OK. I legit snagged a copy of this from the library because it helped me satisfy a couple of prompts for a monthly Book Bingo, so it served its purpose.

Definitely written to the target audience and their grown-ups. My inner child is not coming out to play, so I'm leaving this unrated. I may try the others if my library has them.

Sanomattakin selvää, ettei asia suju ilman kommelluksia.
Tämän kirjan avulla esikoiseni oppi sanomaan useita sanoja. Edelleen suurinta huviamme oli etsiä yhdessä kuulijoiden kanssa kissaa kirjan aukeamilta.

I was actual laughing out loud with these book. I am sitting in the school library, I'm sure people around me think I'm crazy sitting here laughing out loud at a picture book.
I would recommend this book. It is funny and clever. The illustrations are nice as well.

Boo and Baa are very busy raking leaves! Silliness ensues when they discover a cat in their tree. They have to work together to problem-solve the situation, and continue to do so throughout the rest of the day. This is a great book for young children; it is very fun and silly.

I got this out for William because of the sheep. The story was alright. We had a big debate about what the red stuff on the sandwich was, and that led to us realizing the book is from Europe. I'd read more in the series if we came across them.

There's just something about two sheep dressed in fall garb raking leaves. Not to mention that later one of them makes a sandwich...a SANDWICH PEOPLE!

Ah, the ingenuity of sheep. And the confusion when the wheelbarrow meows. Happy ending. The only mysterious part is what the paste-like pink substance on the egg sandwich could be.
