Princess Myla has always done her best to obey her father’s rules, for fear of his harsh punishments. As princess of Baela, he expects her to fit into the mold of a diplomat and stern pawn. Which is something her kind heart isn’t made for. When the opportunity presents itself to help her townspeople, Myla can’t resist the call. That’s when she runs into a handsome knight… literally. Their places in court would never allow them to be together. But love never cares about its inconvenience. While they both battle their own demons, they fall in love. But what will happen when King Henry has other plans for Mylas’ future? Will their love conquer, or will she become ensnared by her father’s game?
Lashell Rain is a foodie fueled by a shameless amount of caffeine and a passion for storytelling. The Texas native lives at home with her two beautiful kids. Between being a mom by day, and a writer by night, she brought her dreams of becoming an author into a reality.
Myla is a princess who barely gets permission to leave her tower for daily walks in the garden. But is suddenly confident and experienced for the sex scene. Which already makes me gag but was so flowery I wished I could vomit and skipped over it.
The author describes a "fabric corset" I fucking hope it's fabric and not plastic. I hope the author ment to describe a soft bodice with no boning. Later said "corset" is ripped off. Idc if Gavin is strong, fabric doesn't rip like paper. The only reason the corset should rip easily is if the structure is already compromised by tears and cuts severely.
For the 5 seconds the chloroform rag is covering her mouth it works near instantly.
Corset is associated with not being able to breathe.
Also, the trigger warning is basically hidden.

This book and it’s characters was simple which I think was it’s best and worst trait. I think I think it helped it because it didn’t become overly complicated or muddled. Though I do think it made it come across as a bit flat at times. Other than that I loved the book. It was romantic and beautiful.
This book was so good! I loved the action, the adventure, the slow burn romance that makes your belly flutter. Let’s just talk about Sir Gavin for a minute…. This man, he may just be my new book boyfriend. We love a protective knight in shining armor! If you love historical romance, give this book a read!!
Princess x knight might be one of my favourite tropes. But while this book is definitely a very simple and quick read, I found it a bit boring and too kitschy for my taste.
I loved this book and ate it up so fast, and I’m totally hooked on the Knight x princess trope. I loved that Myla is not some weak hopeless girl and I loved how much detail was put into all the characters. The author wrote about the characters feelings and personality’s so well I felt exactly what they were feeling. I gave this book 3 stars because I felt that Gavin could have fought harder for “the love of his life” I do feel that he gave up on Myla to soon and so easily when the situation got hard and he basically didn’t fight for her until the very end and even then the ending felt rushed and incomplete. Myla and Gavin did get their happy ending, however there’s so many things that were left unresolved such as her father and Fredrick, I was hoping Gavin would take revenge and eventually become king and rule by Mayla’s side and bring peace to the poor town’s people she was helping in the very beginning. Like I said this ended feels Inconclusive with too many loose ends and no sense of justice for the way Mayla and Gavin were both treated. Overall this book was a fun read by the ending left me with many questions and no sense of closure. :(

This book was simple. Fast paced. The lack of word building and character building helped make this a quick and easy read which is what I wanted after reading Powerless by Elsie Silver :/
It was a decent book, the romance was very sweet and I loved the royal vibes which is exactly what I wanted from this book. With it being so short and fast paced however, the relationship between Myla and Gavin was ok but I didn’t LOVE them nor did I really fall for Gavin.
Plus his names Gavin. What royal knight is called Gavin?? 🫣
This book could’ve been great if we had more backstory on Mylas parents and the kingdoms history. Also there was no prologue so what eventually happened?
It’s like a 2.75/3 star read but it was enjoyable 🏰🗡️🌊
A sweet little romance, slightly a slow burn with some spice that was enjoyable. I enjoyed the duel view points.
The plot seemed a little flat, I would have tho appreciate it more information about the “why”. I would have appreciated a little more background information, when it came to wire the king that was the way he was. Was he drunk all the time? Because he was drinking but never a mention of an addiction.
And a little bit more about the world and such but overall I read it in less than a day so I enjoyed it enough to want to keep reading! :)

Okay this book was just adorable! It gave me all the fluffy warmth and fuzzy feelings of reading a classic fairytale. While it wasn't perfect (it had a bit of Wattpad vibes if you know what I mean) the plot was great and just the whole thing felt like I was watching a slightly more adult version of a Disney movie complete with a forbidden romance, a princess who swordfights, and a knight who would protect her with his life. I loved every second of it but I understand it is not for everyone and it still wasn't perfect perfect to me. Over all though, highly recommend if you love fairytales as much as I do
This was a sweet and short romance. I enjoyed the slowish burn and both POV's. I do wish that there was a little more back story on Myla's side. I was left wondering why some of the things were happening and how it started. Also, I feel like the ending was kind of left open and that there is so much more that could have happened to them afterwards that we just don't know. Other than that, I did enjoy this book and I would recommend it.
Some trigger warnings that I just want to add: - This book does contain physical and mental abuse
STOP WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING AND PURCHASE THIS BOOK. ASAP.
Lashelle's debut novel "The Promised Princess" is full of adorably sweet charm, a protective male hottie, and a scornful father set to destroy his daughter's future dreams.
From start to finish, Lashelle Rain deliver's a romantic story that wraps you up into her beautifully crafted world and makes you cheer Sir Gavin and Myla on every step of the way.
I love a story of princess and a knight. This book is just easy to read but itll be good if this have a sequel, like what happened after they got in the boat, or Sir Gavin's background story or such and such. I felt like the ending was rushed and just decided to "lets just end it right here" kinda moment. But over all I enjoyed it even on the small cheeky love scene. it makes me imagine Sir Gavin 😍
Great plot/storyline but moves very quickly! You immediately are rooting for the love interests while also thinking “woah, that was fast, yall just met 😅”. Has a great friend/comedic relief aspect as well. I love a good heartfelt confession from a man, but there was also cutesy little moments here and there that I found I loved more since they’re more relatable to real life relationships 😂
I am always up for a historical romance and this one did not disappoint. I read it in a day!
The characters, adventure, and the show burn romance checked off all the boxes for me. And Sir Gavin... a true knight in shining armour - I would let him rescue me any day!
I loved every minute of this book! Highly recommend if you are a historical romance fan.
A historical romance with a dash of spiciness. A princess with a cruel overbearing father, a knight who only want the princess to be safe and happy, what more can you ask for. I love a story told from different perspectives, giving you the advantage of feeling from both main characters. What more can you ask for?
One of those books that has you invested from chapter one. The desire and anticipation for book two is the only fault I can find. Wonderfully written in a POV format, this is a gold standard on how the format should be used. Lashell Rain completely draws you into her world of Knights and Princess.
I wanted to like this but i just couldn't get there. It felt like "From Blood and Ash" mixed with "The Princess Bride" sounds good right? If I hadn't read Blood and Ash, Throne of Glass, and much more I might would have liked it. But compared to some of the other books I've read this just fell flat.
First book by this author and, in my opinion, it's fantastic! The story is great, the characters are well developed, and who doesn't love a princess who chooses the knight and learns how to save herself! I look forward to her future books.
This book was really good! I know it is a standalone but I would love to read more about Roland and Harper, I loved their characters so much and maybe we could even get a little glimpse about Gavin and Myla's future.
First book I’ve read from this author, I feel it was a good quick read. The MMC and FMC faced many obstacles though the story and hope to read more of their journey in the future.
