In the aftermath of the battle of Arrakeen, legendary House Atreides warmaster Gurney Halleck takes refuge with spice smugglers, vowing revenge against the Harkonnens no matter the cost.
Yes, I have a lot of books, and if this is your first visit to my amazon author page, it can be a little overwhelming. If you are new to my work, let me recommend a few titles as good places to start. I love my Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. series, humorous horror/mysteries, which begin with DEATH WARMED OVER. My steampunk fantasy adventures, CLOCKWORK ANGELS and CLOCKWORK LIVES, written with Neil Peart, legendary drummer from Rush, are two of my very favorite novels ever. And my magnum opus, the science fiction epic The Saga of Seven Suns, begins with HIDDEN EMPIRE. After you've tried those, I hope you'll check out some of my other series.
I have written spin-off novels for Star Wars, StarCraft, Titan A.E., and The X-Files, and I'm the co-author of the Dune prequels. My original works include the Saga of Seven Suns series and the Nebula Award-nominated Assemblers of Infinity. I have also written several comic books including the Dark Horse Star Wars collection Tales of the Jedi written in collaboration with Tom Veitch, Predator titles (also for Dark Horse), and X-Files titles for Topps.
I serve as a judge in the Writers of the Future contest.
My wife is author Rebecca Moesta. We currently reside near Monument, Colorado.
It's funny--I was looking for something on the shelves at the comic store when I saw this. Another Dune series by Boom! Studios? Of course, I grabbed it off the shelf. Then, I went up to the counter to pick up my holds, and among the few books was...Dune: The Waters of Kanly #1. The comic store owner, Pete, knew I'd read Dune: House Atreides, and he set this new series aside for me, figuring I would like it. He was right. I love anything connected to Dune, and I'm so happy that Brian Herbert ChrisTolkiened his dad's work and keeps it going because I was just thinking the other day how much I miss Dune, and here, I can read this comic series and re-immerse myself in the world. This series is from Gurney Halleck's perspective after House Harkonnen battles and defeats (so they think) House Atreides on Dune. Halleck survives the attack on Arakeen and vows to go forward with Duke Leto's declaration of kanly against the Harkonnens. He wants revenge, and he'll do pretty much anything to get it. There's a tavern scene, which I love, and I'm curious to see what'll come next with the plot that Halleck is conspiring to complete against Beast Rabban for what Rabban did to Gurney and his family. As always with Boom! Studios, the artwork is gorgeous, especially the cover, and the writing is very strong. I can't wait to see how this series moves forward (and how many more times Herbert will use the word "kanly").
Powerful pericope giving insight into a skirmish chronologically set early on in the Dune sequel, Dune: Messiah. **** #1 – “Blood is thicker than water. Water is more precious than spice. Revenge is most precious of all.” – Songs of Gurney Halleck
