When Daisy Evans, a.k.a. Amabelia (Bella) Flores gets the result of a DNA test she has taken in an attempt to discover her unknown father, things don’t work out well, and she risks losing her new florist business. Bella asks Janika Jones to investigate, and the result is something neither of them expected. Janika is also investigating aliens who are apparently landing at night in the field behind Nigel Frampton’s house. Unsurprisingly, the police show no interest at all, so Nigel hires Janika to set up a surveillance camera. Janika has to hope no one finds out what she’s doing, or she will become a laughing stock. However, it turns out that the job is far from laughable, and there’s serious danger involved. Piers Pillinger wants to make use of Janika’s photographic skills again, and assures her this is a perfectly straightforward job at his own home. Nothing can possibly go wrong ‒ and Janika believes him! Toby Walton? Well....
Another cute entry in the Button Up Detective Agency collection. Bella finds out that she has a twin brother as a result of a DNA test and a young man comes to town claiming to be her brother but something just doesn’t seem right and she asks Janika to investigate. She does and discovers the truth. There are also changes happening in her personal life. Looking forward to the next book.
Janika gets a call from a man saying aliens are landing in the field behind his house. Bella has DNA testing and discovers she has a brother. When he shows up, he isn't what she expected. Is he her brother, or is he an imposter. This was interesting. I liked it better than the previous book in the series.
Yet another 5 star read! This is my favorite in the series so far. Our private detective is busy with various jobs and she is going from strength to strength. Empathic, quick thinking and resilient. Delving yet again into the art world, alien sightings and family are reunited in this jam packed cozy mystery.
It seems that every one of the Button Up Detective Agency books has more than one mystery in it, just as this one. Slow going since she repeats a lot of information from the previous books, but it's well worth getting through.
This was a very interesting story about a woman detective and a young boy. I got wrapped up in the story and visit to find out how it ended! You will enjoy reading this book and seeing how it turns out! Terrie Stamey
