As an ER nurse, she knew the day might come when her greatest fear happened, and after her husband of ten years dies in her trauma bay, moving on feels impossible. Struggling to overcome her loss, Elle Conroy navigates the world the only way she thinks she can.
Thrown from the top ranks of her career and drawn into the false comfort that diverted narcotics and alcohol bring, she fights to survive in an environment where daily reminders of her tragedy occur.
Despite the support of her first love and best friend, Dr. Daniel Ross, Elle spirals into the darkness caused by lies and her inability to cope. Unable to escape her nightmare, she counts the days until she can transfer to a job that takes less than everything.
But a new job won't save her from herself, and she must realize there is much more to lose than she thinks before she can rise to the top again.
***Trauma is a medical drama that depicts graphic injuries seen in any Emergency Department across the country. If you have triggers involving such scenes, drug and alcohol use, or questionable consent, do not purchase.***
Sharilyn spent most of her early years on the Grand Strand of SC annoying local police officers and pretty much every one else. She graduated from the University of South Carolina and now lives on a small farm outside of Morgantown, WV with various farm animals, her husband, and three kids who love to annoy her. (Karma is a bitch.) She writes the Healer Series and has published articles for major magazines, newspapers, and anthologies. She loves showing Quarter horses, trail riding, reading, and being annoyed by her kids. If she is missing, check for her horse trailer. If it is missing, no worries, she'll be back.
New genre from my favorite author Sharilyn Skye. Could be true of any ED nurse
This read shows the versatility of this author. You feel nurse Elle’s pain at losing her husband in her own Hospital ED. Having to continue to work in the very room where she tried to save him after a motorcycle accident takes a heavy toll on her. We go with her through her journey of working through this horrific pain to watch her come out on the other side with a new zest for life and joy with her best friend and love, Daniel, who never gave up on her!
The storyline gave me a new appreciation for what our medical personnel go through each day. Fast paced, life at its worst, trauma that doesn’t leave your thoughts. Excellent read
This was a difficult book to read however I couldn't put it down. I wasn't fond of the cursing, I felt the same results would have been met with different language.but all in all it was a good story.
