The struggle of the native Cornish language against the onslaught of the 20th century. The ensuing journey to uncover this strange past finds the Pengilley family tied across more than 200 years.
Subject matter and story are both brilliant, right up my street. However it feels very rushed and the (English) prose is not brilliant. The analogies can be a bit bizarre. I feel bad saying this as I like the author and this is very much a labour of love!
