Papaji's life fascinates me, and I have much reverence for this character, there are some very good clips of him on Youtube. "Wherever you go, don't take the I with you", he says. In this book you learn his very amazing backstory. How he went to Maharshi because he was losing his visions of Krishna, and Maharshi told him to look for the seer instead of an external god. And then told him to rescue his family in the Punjab during a period of murders between Hindus and Muslims. Unlike Maharshi, Papaji lived a life in the world, but everything fell into place because he was the Self, and never confused that identity with transient phenomenon. There are so many amazing stories in this book, and it shows that getting Enlightened, is extremely helpful in all endeavors. Realizing the illusoriness of the false I, the self-concept, and being the Awareness that is unchanging through deep sleep, dreaming and waking. The unchanging Self, the self of selves. My really good friend, said that she "still likes things complicated". But I've found more and more that all connection, all love, all happiness, all wisdom, everything good comes from being without ego, not having a meddlesome ego messing up everything. more and more I get in touch with this state. Thank you Papaji for inspiring me.

I found this whole series really powerful.

This first book gave me insight into Papaji's life in a way that I hadn't had before.

I'd always known him as a no-nonsense teacher and just an 'everyday' kind of guy who happened to receive and share a profound teaching for awakening. This book shed light on some of the early signs of his deep spiritual nature, and how it played out through his life.

I definitely recommend it for people who value the teachings of Ramana Maharshi, HWL Poonjaji and his students.

All three volumes of the biography of the life of Papaji are mainly about how he lived in a state of non-dual Enlightenment.

Currently Papaji is a leading teacher for me spiritually. The third of the book is not as interesting as the rest as it covers his more mundane life, but the whole book is a gift. The energy in these is exceptional. His human life kind of stretched my definition of what an advanced/enlightened person's personality/behaviors should look like, but the reminder that you can't judge a holy person by their actions helped me deal with my skepticism enough until the energy could help me dispel it for good.

If you are unfamiliar with non-dualism, or advaita, "A Course in Miracles" could be an excellent primer of sorts. Although to really understand a course in miracles can take years haha. It approaches non-dualism with a lot of dualism, which makes it more approachable for the intellectual mind that has yet to experience silence, or the non-dual, enough to not need words as much. Papaji kind of just cuts straight to it.

I believe Sri M said that Papaji, Nisargadatta and Ramana Maharshi were so close to enlightenment that it was practically effortless for them, so their instructions for enlightenment were not as understandable/practical for most people. I'm not sure if that's true, or if Sri M even really said this, but it illustrates a way that they seem to not have as much of a reference for the experience prior to enlightenment, like how an obscenely wealthy person may be disconnected from the cost of normal goods. An example is how Papaji claims that spiritual practice and clearing karma is useless. It seems to me that their teachings of the ultimate truth are the highest, but if you aren't close enough, you may need some other practices as well to keep your vibration high enough. As always, it's the individual's job to follow the "scent" of the highest and to constantly reorient themselves with what's needed. Hope this last paragraph makes any sense haha, if not just disregard it :)

Lovely read for those wanting to know about how to live a realized life without the surrounding aura and hype associated with it.
