Decent. Has some good basic info. I skipped a lot because it deals with a lot of specific plans I don’t have. You always wish these were more specific with their advice but I know that’s not very realistic.

This book is very old. It is supposed to be linked with a website but that site sink-swim.com is dead. The author is a financial advisor former pilot teamed with a securities lawyer. The rules on IRAs have changed over the years. The book was written before the affordable care act! I did enjoy some of the stories about pensions from bankrupt airlines but there wasn't much of value for making actual investment decisions in 2025

This is a pretty good primer for people regarding how to invest for retirement. It is especially good at letting you know some things NOT to do, also! The topic is not the most exciting one in the world, and I did have to force myself to keep reading at times because of that, but I would recommend this book to anyone that needs to start (or ramp up) their retirement savings plan. Very good overview.

First part is a behind the scenes look at what's wrong with the financial industry and Wall Street for the average investor exposing the high fees, commissions, and huge conflict of interest that 90% of those who call themselves "financial advisors".

The second part is a easy do-it-yourself investment strategy to save for retirement. Great book.
