An interesting treatise to say the least, 50 BAD BIBLE VERSES may be 'Ammunition For Atheists' in the mind of the author, but I see it as ammunition for common sense. The cumbersome tome called The Bible is virtually unreadable, especially today, because of convoluted language and long outdated concepts. Any thinking person knows this.

Joshua Killahan provides ample ammunition from both the Old and New Testaments to counter the religious claims of modern zealots. Alas, no matter how reasoned the argument, I fear the passages in this book will do little to change the minds of anyone to whom formal religion is the bulwark of their life.

50 BAD BIBLE VERSES: Ammunition For Atheists is a fast read and worth reading even if the information presented isn't really new to you.

Very helpful.

I’m not going to say that I get into debates with Christians, but if I did, I would find this book to be a lovely resource.

Glad this book was free...it's not worth paying for. It doesn't provide any real ammunition for atheists. He pulls scripture out of context and then tries to justify why they are problematic. He makes the absurd claim that Christians shouldn't attempt to read this lest they also become atheists. If he had real concrete and logical reasoning rather than simple angry statements he might get somewhere. It's clear he is one of the atheists who isn't familiar with the Bible. He makes erroneous claims that Christians believe God wrote the Bible. The term "God-breathed the Word" alludes to the fact that the Word God was inspired. Men were inspired by God and then instructed to write the Scriptures.

He misses the fact that the entire foundation of Christianity comes from the Salvation of mankind through the blood of Christ, so he fails to grasp that what happened in the Old Testament doesn't apply to New Testament believers...The Law has been fulfilled by the Blood of Christ. Admittedly there are a lot of Christians that seem to have forgotten this also. Since the Scriptures he uses are taken out of context it does give the impression that the author is correct in his assertion but anyone who has actually studied the Bible to some degree will see that much of what he is critical of doesn't stand up well.

He fails to grasp the importance of understanding the context of the time and to whom it was written is key to understanding the teachings and what they mean. He also fails to grasp that many of the things he takes issue with are only problematic because mankind often takes things in the Bible and applies their own understanding to the matter rather than seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit which is actually how Christians at least should be reading Scripture.

I've had much more intelligent and thought-provoking atheists in real life that are able to make their case in a solid manner than anything in this book. Most atheists won't have issues with this book...it does enforce some preconceived notions about the Bible and God that many atheists have but I would guess for real ammunition there are better, more thought out books on the matter
