Rate this book
Being an Omega used to be the dream everyone wanted. Now it’s a nightmare.

Packs are a thing of the past, blackmarket dealers kidnap Omegas off the street, and the ones that escape are little better than pawns for the government to control.

So when my designation revealed itself in the worst situation possible, I ran. Or I tried to. While trying to escape, I found myself in an even worse fate at the hands of my abuser— my father. Now that he knows I’m an Omega he sees me as nothing more than a commodity, locking me away until he could legally sell me to the highest bidder.

Risking death, I take my one and only chance to break free. My only hope now is to seek help in the only place I think I can trust. And I find more than just shelter. I find love, affection, and the pack I always dreamed of having. But Omegas are still the most coveted object in this world that’s as broken as I am; and even the men who’ve started to heal my heart may not be able to save me.

This is an Omegaverse romance where the leading lady doesn't have to choose who she loves or how many. Book contains 18+ content—swearing, sexual situations, and abuse. WARNING- this book contains emotional and physical abuse.

It was a very sweet omegaverse in a dystopian society, but honestly, I just wasn't a fan of the age gap between the men and the just-turned-18-year-old FMC Cambrie. I don't recall if every man had their ages revealed but at least a couple (out of 6 men when I stopped) were 15-18+ years older than her. While the men were certainly very gentle and understanding to their virgin abused omega, once they started trying to "teach" her how to enjoy intimate relations at 62% into the book.... I had to nope out. I was hoping maybe this would be a different twist with more platonic relationships in the pack with a young naive omega, but alas, that was not to be.

I'd recommend this book to people who enjoy sweet omegaverse billionaire romance and are okay with graphic abuse but don't have problems with reading about age-gap relationships with a barely adult FMC. I had picked up this book since I enjoy omegaverse and I had enjoyed the author's Omega Assassin series, but I didn't realize how old the FMC would be in this book when she found her pack and the ages of the men in them from the synopsis alone.

"You take me so good, Little One," he murmured against my lips. "What a good Omega you are, taking your Alpha's cock down to the root."

Cambrie has had a hard life with an abusive father. Her mom died when she was 10 and since then her life has been a living hell. When she's 16, she's locked away because she presented as an omega. At 18, she finally escapes and eventually meets her pack.

"I found an Omega, and I'm not giving her up."

Official Marius is the alpha of his pack and an official in the Council of Four. His main goal is to help the homeless and allow packs to pick their own omegas. His beta, Spencer, works with him as well as Spencer's other alpha, Nixon. In addition to that part of the pack, there's Raphael- an alpha therapist who works there also, and Bodhi (beta) and Oscar (a mute alpha) who are musicians. Six total men, four are alphas and two are betas.

They thought their pack was complete, but once they set their sights on Cambrie, they knew they needed her. They needed to PROTECT her. They all help her recover from years of abuse with kindness, friendship, and acceptance. It slowly morphs into love.

"You honor me by offering up your neck, but I haven't earned the right to claim you just yet," Marius said, his lips brushed my skin igniting a fire deep in my belly. "One day, my Princess, you will be ours in every way but for now you must wait a little longer."

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It read like a wattpad story that you can't get enough of. Nothing serious happens, it's mostly a simple rundown of their days together- but you can't get enough of it! I didn't want this book to end. I'm anxiously awaiting book two!!

LIKES:
-nuzzling, purring, cuddling, nesting, heats!
-FADHOIAFHDIAO the nicknames, y'all: Little one, princess, sweetheart, dove, little star, Cambi (a play on Bambi)-

"You're like Bambi, all sweet, innocent, and a little awkward."

-Cambrie's nose scrunching at things she doesn't like
-the way Oscar kissed her to stop a panic attack
-NO JEALOUSYYYYY!

"Is it that hot when you watch me making out with one of you?" Spencer asked his Alphas.
"Because I don't think I've ever seen anything more beautiful or sensual in my life."

-purring while knotting... causing vibration. :O
-Oscar's sign language during sex omg, it was so attractive the way it was portrayed!
-Cambrie's naivety but also her resilience.
-THE SPICEEEE & praise!

IMPORTANT BITS:
virgin heroine
age gap (18h, 21-40 H's)
PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks (h)
past SH, violence, child abuse
PRAISE KINK!
no OM/OW
no cheating

"'It's going to take the right people to help her, Spense, but something in my soul tells me our pack can do it.'"

Knot All is Lost is a Why Choose Omegaverse novel and is the first in a duology. In this world, Omegas are going extinct thanks to a Beta terrorist group who sought to destroy the Alpha and Omega superiority. As a result, Omega are often taken away from their families after the present and thrown into government facilities or sold on the black market. This is where Cambrie, our female main character comes in. Cambrie has spent the last 10 years of her life abused and tormented by her father after the death of her mum. When she presents as an Omega as the age of 16, her father locks her in the basement and auctions her off on her 18th birthday to an Alpha willing to pay top dollar. Cambrie escapes and finds herself at a shelter where she meets an unlikely pack who are drawn to her and determined to help her.

On the surface this book has a lot of the things I normally like - spice, insta-love, omegaverse, protective male characters, and a found family vibe. Yet as I started reading I starting getting a grooming vibe from this book - this mainly was a result of the age gape romance between some of the characters, the positions of power they were in, and the characterization of the female main character. To starts, Cambrie is 18 years old when she meets these men but some of them are at least 20 years older than her (its noted quite pointedly he is distinguished with grey hairs and age lines on his face). In addition, one of these men is the therapist in the facility while two others help run the shelter. When they meet her she immediately is cuddling with them before being taken to their home for safety. Now, she is a virgin and we don't see any sexual content until about the 60% mark but they are "teaching her." To cap this all off, the author heavily emphasizes the innocence and naivety of Embrie as an abused, malnourished, and clueless her which makes the progression of the relationship hard to rationalize.

NOTE - not all the men in the group are 20+ years older but the ones that are are in positions of power are the ones who instigated the beginning of the relationship.

"For the first time since my mother died, I was in the arms of someone who would protect me."

I have read other books where a character is abused or imprisoned and I have read books with significant age gapes but the mixing of all these things just didn't sit well with me. I can usually set aside reality but not here. Admittedly, I started skimming the book after the first sexual encounter just to see what happened at the end of the book. There is a heat scene in this novel but not all character participate.

In terms of plot, this is a light plot with the male characters challenging the oppressive Omega measures in place that prevent an Omega from choosing their pack (because she wants them). This novel ends on a cliff hanger with more of this plot to continue. It also seems like another character may join the pack. We also see relationships develop between other members in the group that were platonic in the beginning.

Ultimately, if you love super sweet and spicy Omegaverse romances and enjoy your taboo romances, then you may enjoy this. I could not set aside my feelings about these topics and will not read the next book.

Ooof. So much of this comes off as predatory. A newly 18-year-old with dudes as old as 40. Plus, the 40-year-old dude is supposed to be her therapist. Yuck. On top of that, she lacks a lot of maturity socially, emotionally, etc from being stunted by being kept at home and eventually imprisoned by her own father. I had a lot of ick feels and ended up skimming A LOT because it kind of lost the plot once it got into the middle of the book. Not for me. Whisking off a battered 18yr old to live with a group of older dudes just isn't it. Sweet is not the word I would use.

Look, there’s just a lot wrong with this.

There are gaps in this story (and not just the age gap lol). Like the author was literally just glancing over everything, fast forwarding through their own work and explanations to race to the finish line.

For example, the dystopian society and the motivations behind their Omega system and why it existed took forever to explain bc it was so drawn out at random points here and there. The guys personal stories that easily could have created golden chances to humanize them or make them more relatable. The FL’s air-headedness and seeming innocence to an insufferable degree despite all the abuse she faced (bc I’m sorry, that “child like” innocence when she should instead be jaded af or have a chip on her shoulder the size of Nebraska after everything she’s been through, was such an ick thing for me). The male leads ages and so much more.

Everything about this felt and read as being half-arsed raw and unedited. Like slapping words down on a keyboard in a semblance of a plot would be enough. This was messy and all the characters were stiff, inorganic and two dimensional in the worst stock photo way possible. This was not worth the read for me but the good reviews made me do it. 💀

I really liked the narrators in this! It was dual narration. Other than that, the rest was meh. I had no idea that omegaverse didn’t always involve shifters/wolves but I wish this one did. It would have added another layer of depth. I also wish this had a bit more plot movement/development. It was just a bit slow and focused on the relationships, which was fine, but that was also slow. The ending was decent. Maybe more plot comes in book 2 but I probably won’t continue the series.

{TL;DR: This book takes incongruent actions and patronizing exposition to a whole new level, while trying to romanticize toxic and predatory dynamics that essentially amount to grooming.}

In this post-terrorist attack world, where government control has ramped up under the guise of preserving Omegas, Cambrie's designation reveal on her 16th birthday comes as an unwelcome surprise and a death knell to any hope of escaping her abusive father. Her one and only chance to run comes years later... and lands her straight in the sights of an affluent pack of males.

Star Lost: Couldn't Suspend Disbelief

I absolutely couldn't wrap my head around who Cambrie is supposed to be, the world that surrounds her, how she reacts, her development as she escapes and begins new relationships, etc.

Not only is Cambrie's character put through 8 years of an alcoholic father who mentally and physically abuses her prior to her designation reveal, but she is then kept chained in a basement for an additional two years as her father waits for her to turn 18. She is under constant threat of either being sold on the black market or taken by the government to be assigned to an unknown pack.

Immediately I was put off by how the author wrote not only Cambrie's abuse but her triggered response to it, as it was clear that they either don't know anything about the long term consequences of childhood trauma & abuse or simply don't know enough about it to write about it believably. Instead, it comes off as this theatrical caricature of what someone might imagine it to be in an effort to extort maximum sympathy from an audience. I mean, JFC. You don't need to have someone slam themselves to the floor and huddle into a ball like their town is being actively hit by a drone strike in order to get across that they have a history of being hit.

And we're basically bludgeoned over the head with these melodramatic interpretations for the duration.

Also...

Why did her Father wait until she was 18 to sell her if she's going on the black market anyway? lol

Star Lost: Expositionary Dump-a-thon

Like a foie gras goose, prepare for a veritable firehose of awkward, OTT monologues aimed at force-feeding the reader information the author is too lazy to work into the storyline organically. Even setting aside the unnatural pet names & the painful need for an editor... this book's embarrassing level of pandering to the lowest common denominator reader is just nauseating.

It's like the neglected stepchild of CliffsNotes and For Dummies procrastinated on a summer writing project and this is what happened.

Don't know why someone's eyebrow was raised? Don't worry, you're about to get a two page impassioned rant from one of the characters explaining the who, what, where, when, and how of the eyebrow. Flashing arrow signs couldn't be more glaring in trying to direct the reader like they're some confused, idiot tourist.

Text walls abound, and everyone involved has something very deep and explanatory and dramatic to impart nearly every page. You could hold your breath between each one and you'd still sound like you were practicing Lamaze.

ALL THE STARS LOST: Romanticization of Predatory and Abusive Maneuvering

I'm going to go ahead and address the thoroughly gross, creepy, and incredibly ill-timed immediate hyper-sexualization of a chronically abused teenage girl who is described as being emaciated & malnourished, bruised, traumatized, physically wounded, scarred, terrified - need I go on? Couple that with the chronic infantilization and Cambrie's stunted mental maturation, and we're basically reading about a bunch of powerful older men - one of which is a kind of crisis therapist at their shelter - who are preying on a vulnerable, child-like individual incapable of understanding what's happening.

Seriously? The author couldn't wait just a skosh longer before embarking down that path? I know these books are usually erotica loosely held together with a semi-engaging story, but ffs. This was just... ew.

I read a vast spectrum of fiction, including some extremely dark "romance" (which are usually more dysfunctionally erotic than romantic). At least those are honest about what they are and have thorough TW sections. However, this book tries to hide behind the force majeure of Omegaverse physiology, thinking that somehow greenlights authors into being neglectful about consent in all its many forms - and that, to me, is inexcusable. Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

“I’ve only just met you, and I can see how pure your heart is, despite all you’ve been through. Give us time, Cambrie, we will show you what it means to be cherished and cared for.”

I first read this duology a good while back and I loved it so much. One of my favorite omegaverse poly books. I still enjoyed it lots now during my reread, but I can also tell my tastes have changed a bit since then.

There’s so much sweetness in this story even with the horrible backstory and trauma. I love Rafael the most. He’s the oldest member of the pack and is just so calm and kind with some definite daddy vibes, which is my kryptonite. I also love that even tho the main focus is on the FMC (the omega), we get to see the development of a completely new MM relationship in the pack, as well as some new developments in the existing male throuple. There’s a lot of dynamics going on, and they all feel genuine and sweet.

A man who was afraid to kiss someone after they sucked their cock didn’t deserve the pleasure.

The pack grows in book 2, and even that feels right for them. She meets this last guy in book 1 and their chemistry and connection is instant.

I do wish we learned more about the MMCs in the pack and their backstories as most of the focus is on the FMC.

“If I knew it would be like that, I would have risked it the moment I knew I had feelings for him. Guess the cat’s out of the bag now.” “Dude, that cat’s out of the bag, adopted, and purring in someone's lap already. Next time I tell you that two people need to be together, don't doubt me.”

“So hateful,” I huffed. “You ruin my shirt. You call me a bed hog. What’s gonna happen next? I snore?” Both of my partners looked at me tight-lipped as if I did actually snore. “Do I?” “Do you what?” Marius asked. “Snore.” He ran his hand through his hair, dropping his gaze.

“Marius,” I whispered. “Yes, Princess?” “I think I’d really like a hug,” I said, leaning toward him and reaching out, but he moved far faster, scooping me up.

“I put your penis in my mouth and suck on it.” Why did that sound so innocent and erotic at the same time? “When we are in moments like this, I’d call it a cock, or dick works too,” I suggested. “Penis is too… formal.”

OH MY GOSHHHHHH!! I loved the crap out of this book! The story, the characters, and all the FEELS! This story hit me hard and deep in the feels y’all. I’m so in love with Cambrie, her strength and loving heart are truly awe inspiring. Despite all she’s been through, she chooses kindness and love. She might be quite, but her resilience and fierceness make anything but weak. And her men…yowza! Talk about cherishing and protecting those you love *fans self*. These men had me swooning hardcore. Talk about cinnamon roll men who just want to love, cherish and care for their woman and those they love. Every little detail, personality quirk, tender moment and cherishing caress had me falling even deeper in love with these characters and their story.

I truly cannot put all of my immensely positive thoughts and vibes into words. I am OBSESSED with this story and I genuinely cannot wait to see what happens next. I know this is a story I won’t be able to stop thinking about and that will stay with me.

I’m so glad I always wait to read series/duets until they’re completed.
Otherwise that ending would’ve fucked me up.
It was intense and brutally eye opening.

So far I’m really enjoying this duet.
Cambrie is such a fighter. She’s gone through so much in her life, and she has so many triggers and trauma responses because of that, but she continually tries to help others, and she never seems to give up trying to better herself once she finally finds her place. It’s perfect, and I love all the support and love the guys show her from the second they find her.

All of that was fantastic. The relationships were blooming, and already know I’m gonna love them all.

I did see in other reviews where they were getting ‘predatory’ vibes because of the age gap, the fact that they take her home with them and that one of them is ‘supposed to be her therapist’, let me just say, I get it, but here’s where I disagree.
The struggle.
This is sort of like a taboo romance, where it all comes down to how they react to certain things. Yes. All of that is technically true, but one, if they didn’t take her home with them she would be in danger from all the other people in the shelter plus all the alphas in the area.
Two, Rafael is just A therapist, he’s not actually Her therapist and doesn’t act in that capacity for more than 10 minutes before her designation makes it clear she’s not safe out in the open like she was and he be comes more of a friend and protector than anything else. And then the age gap…I don’t know. It’s fiction. I feel like that’s just a personal preference some people will dislike. In my opinion, things were handled really well with everything going on. Consent is constantly being asked for and given, doubts and reluctance are being expressed. But this is an omegaverse, so things moved maybe faster than it would have in some other genre.🤷🏻‍♀️
I like it. I think it’s super sweet.
I’m just not seeing it like others seem to be, I guess.
Just thought I’d address those things, since I’m sure others will agree with one side or the other and maybe it’s not something you’ll want to read knowing there’s things like that that some readers are finding they don’t like.

Anyway.
The sex was heat induced, but so hot and loving and they all gave her so much care and guidance. Plus there was some really lovely MM moments that just made everything feel really rounded out in the group dynamics.

I’m really excited to see how things pan out.
This next book is gonna be so important and even sadder, I just know it.

I really enjoyed this for all of 5 chapters. I adore age gap stories, but this went from protective behavior to predatory behavior extremely quickly. As soon as Cambrie got to their house, there were more and more interactions that made me uncomfortable. The tone they “correct” her behavior with, the books they buy for her, the movies they watch, even the food they feed her is all things you’d do with a child. I know technically she’s an adult, but because of her trauma she is severely emotionally and socially stunted and everything about her came across as childlike. Typically in stories my brain automatically ages the fmc up…but based on the way she speaks and thinks during her pov, I could not help picturing a 13/14 year old girl. So combine that with 6 men suddenly lusting over this girl, it felt super gross. The men constantly refer to her behavior and naivety as “cute”, and even her body is described as under developed. Their interactions with her scream grooming and are so gross. Blehhh I love nicknames, but I think this may have ruined “sweetheart” and “little one” for me. I just got to the point where they give her a sex talk and was OUT. I feel like this needs additional content warnings, because “age gap” doesn’t cover it.

Almost dnf’d this because the formatting of this book is horrible. I’m not sure why each dialogue line seemed to be one big paragraph but it drove me insane. It was an okay read, didn’t really hit the good fmc trauma points I tend to enjoy but it was good enough for me to read the whole thing and take note of the next book’s release date. Though I am not sure I’ll end up reading it because this book wasn’t as hard hitting as the omegaverse books I tend to read. The plot was very streamlined and was definitely unrealistic, even for OV standards.

The story itself is not bad, but the writing is SOOOOO poor. Too much dialog, too much telling and not showing and just generelly strange dialog. I personally love sweet omegaverse stories, but this was ridiculious. No one actually speaks like this, professing their love every freaking scentence in such awkward manner. I found myself skipping a lot of pages because how bad the writing was, but still went on the read the second book. It was just as bad. While I understand that everyone likes different types of stories and styles, I for one don't care about the age gap which bothered some people, am truly baffled that those who read this book could overlook how strange the writing was and rate it as a four or five. My opinion; Just skip this one! There is waaaaay better books out there in the same genre.

DNF around 40%? Sometimes I'm really in the mood for an iddy, wattpaddy omegaverse with wild levels of hurt/comfort, but this one wasn't hitting right for me. Too much infodump no-one-talks-like-this dialogue and an overly infantilized heroine.

It doesn't make sense how someone that has no education and spent 2 years lock away is so put together. HOW DOES she know what a tablet is or other technology?
There is no way she could be comfortable doing so many things so soon after surviving that kind of trauma, why wasn't she taken to see a doctor or hospital concerning her starvation and abuse. It still make no sense if she has a mate why would she go into heat especially with such abused body? I'm guessing this is the new type of fairy tale where the victim get saved by a rich pack instead of prince charming.

DNF I was very uncomfortable with the age gap and the fact she was barely legal. The past abuse made the men seem predatory instead of sexy. I quit around the time I realized if she was a year or even a few months younger their actions would have been grooming.

Well, that was a smexy ride!

Cambrie is a sweet, naive girl who was abused her whole life. The abuse turned up to an extreme level for the last two years of her adolescence after her omega status became clear. Omegas arent allowed to choose their pack, they are forced from their families into 'Care Centers' and later placed with a pack of the governments choosing; therefore its a scary prospect to face as a young girl. She endures the abuse and runs when presented the chance not long after her 18th birthday.

Marcus is a newly elected, Alpha official with progressive ideas when Cambrie runs from her father and lands in the shelter run by his pack mates. The guys are all wonderful and caring and immediately enamoured with her. I dont want to give them away, but I really love Spencer and am literally in love with Oscar and Bodhi.

The spice level on this one is 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶, as with most RH books. It ends with a doozy of a cliff hanger, but part two is only a couple of months away so I'm not too torn up about it.

If you’d have told me the FMC was a 6 yr old I would have 100% believed you

Here are some of my favourite quotes from this series /s

“Here I am, seventeen years her senior, and I’m acting like a novice teenager. She’s the eighteen-year-old and I’m the adult”

“When I got scared toward the end at the battle between the Beast and Gaston, Bodhi moved close and I clutched his shirt sleeve. When the Beast was shot, I cried out, “No! He can’t die!””

“They all stood huddled around the island, watching Rafael stir a large pot. When I entered, they all cheered and Spencer brought over the step stool for me, placing it next to Rafael.”

“When I didn’t answer, he started to tickle me and shoved his face into my neck, where he blew raspberries, making me squeal in laughter.”

When Cambrie reveals as an rare omega on her 16th birthday, she tries to run only to have her abusive, alcoholic father capture and keep her locked in their basement for 2 years. When her father finds a buyer for her and he believes he is going to get the payday he deserves, Cambrie jumps from the moving car and is able to find someone to help her. It’s then that she meets 3 alphas and 2 betas apart of their own pack that she learns what’s it’s like to have people care for her and love her. However she still has her father looking for her as well as the government.

3.5 stars - I really liked this!

It’s a very sweet rh omegaverse. The fmc is young, naïve, and is just escaping a terrible situation. The pack is kind, gentle, and understanding. I loved seeing them all interact and get familiar with one another. I liked the plot—both overall & in terms of the relationship growth. I’m very interested to see a certain character getting a bigger, hopefully more permanent role in everything in part 2.

All that said, this did end up only being a book I *liked* instead of loved. Mostly because the writing got a little cheesy and somewhat stiff at times. Lines that could have hit so well led to me kind of rolling my eyes instead. And the use of the term “alpha nature” was off-putting to me, especially with how often it was there. There was also some shaky ground re: consistency between Cambrie’s upbringing and how she acted with the pack, etc.

Even so, between the good and the not so good I did truly enjoy reading Knot All is Lost. The romance was so sweet, and I am interested in seeing where this story goes. I absolutely 100% for sure will be picking up part 2 when it releases!

If you read my reviews then you know that two-star review from me is kind of scary. The problem is I am at odds with this book. The formatting is atrocious. I am used to reading books with clear paragraph breaks. This book had none of that. And I've looked at some of her other books and they are the exact same. So formatting has to go. This one constant large ongoing paragraph is not only annoying but migraine inducing.

And then we come to the CUM VS COME issue.
And for all those out there who are going to jump to her defense about the language barriers or that maybe she doesn't have the same education and blah blah blah blah. Don't bother. She uses the terms correctly throughout her entire book however there are places where she skipped over it and used the wrong term. So she knew what she was doing. She knew the proper words to use. She just got lazy and skipped over them. So I find that disrespectful not only to herself but to her readers. And I can't even blame a proofreader on that because she used the correct terms several times throughout her book but then use the incorrect terms practically right afterwards. I'm not going to educate you on the proper terms because I've done it several times in many of my reviews and if you want to look up my reviews go ahead because it gets really boring having to have the same discussion over and over and over.

To be fair I did like the base story. Which is why I gave it to stars. As a foster kid, as well as a child abuse survivor, I do understand the pain that Cambi was going through. So I recognize the behaviors and I could agree with a lot of the behaviors because I've gone through them. So when I read other people's reviews about how she's childlike etc etc then yes I do see their point but I do agree with the author on how she wrote out the characters identity.

I also liked the alphas. I found them to be very on roll. Or on point?

The character savo I'm really holding out hope that he's a good guy. And that he does the right thing. I guess I'm going to find out in the next book right?

I didn't like the fact that she seemed like a whiny little child. I mean it's okay to have emotion and cry and feel vulnerable but at some point get a backbone. It seems like a few times that she did have one but then she'd have a meltdown right afterwards. That's not a heroine that is a victim.

And this government stuff, the government official. Obviously his hero father right? That's not a spoil alert that's just me you know musing.

But for those people out there that get all wiggy I will mark it as a spoiler alert how's that?

See what I mean by I'm at odds over this book? Part of me likes it, it calls to the little girl in me that suffered but the other part of me, the stronger side, survivor, thinks that was just too much to be questioned about this book. Too much unenjoyable things going on, especially the paragraph issue, made it less enjoyable for me. Does any of this make sense?

Anyway, I'm hoping that I will like this next book I am going to give it another try. Cuz I want to find out what happens to cambi.

To be totally honest with you I don't know if I would suggest this book to any of my friends. I will wait till the end of the next book to give my opinion.

I really enjoyed this dystopian type of setting, where alongside the blooming love story, there is a complex hierarchical structure, one that has put omegas at risk as they are handled and viewed simply as a commodity. The political aspects are rather intriguing although within this first part, it is still unclear what the tangled webs of plotting are aiming for. It is quite clear that there is a shady side to the whole thing, where omegas are collected to the Care Centers and their designation to a pack is in the hands of the government. Abolishing the free will to choose, who you would like to spend your life with is definitely one of the central themes within this story as well as the rising need to change the current laws as to provide all citizens with the same rights, regardless of their designation.

The FMC is a young, slightly naïve and severely traumatised young lady, who manages to escape her captor and find the safety that she desperately seeks. The pack she encounters are very caring and understanding of Cambries’ circumstances. I know that for some, such an age gap may seem rather significant, but I reckon that it suits the plot. As most of the guys are in their 30’s and one is around 40, they all have established themselves within the community. Considering the main protagonists state and the precarious situation that she has found herself in, due to her omega status, the stability and maturity the men provided was necessary, so that she could feel cared for and allow herself to place her trust in someone. It is a tender love story and yes, things quickly develop as her first heat appears, but that is to be expected from an omegaverse.

This first part ends on a cliffhanger, one that I did anticipate, but something tells me there would be more surprises in the second book. I really liked the writing style and the time the author took to portray the main protagonists’ character. I am eager to see what will happen with the FMC and how the pack will navigate the political storm heading their way. This is a good combination of a sweet, warm – hearted story that has been enhanced by intriguing political - scheming.

This is a wonderful omegaverse novel. I’ve been on an omegaverse kick recently and when this book landed on my kindle I couldn’t stop myself from diving in.

Cambie, the FMC, is a wonderfully strong character. Cambie has been suffering terribly at the hand of her father and it only gets worse when she presents as an omega at 16. Two years later, on the eve of being sold she escapes. On the surface Cambie could appear weak. She flinches, has panic attacks, suffers from PTSD. But, despite all she’s suffered, she’s still incredibly kind, stands up for those suffering, and cares.

At a shelter, Cambie meets Rafael, Nixon, and Spencer who feel an immediate connection with her. It’s only made stronger when they realize she’s an omega. They take Cambie home to meet the rest of their pack, Marius, Oscar and Bohdi. Together, the seven of them feel like a pack. Cambie brings them all together and they all fit different parts of her. Their relationships are all different but they are all devoted to Cambie. I loved watching them all melt for her. They’re good men, trying to do the right thing for Cambie, and stay within the law.

Elizabeth Knight, is a wonderful storyteller. She pulls you in and gets you invested. There were a couple of interesting plot twists and a heck of of cliffhanger, that’s making me anxious for the release of part 2, so I can find out what happened.

This was a fun, engaging, sweet, suspenseful and heartfelt story, that I throughly enjoyed. I can’t wait for part 2.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! This is Omegaverse at its finest.
Cambrie (our omega) is so broken. But she has so much spirit. As she begins to heal from her past trauma, we get to see more and more of her beautiful soul.
The pack. Omg. These men. They are incredibly gentle and caring and amazing. This is a little slower burn between the pack and Cambrie, but it is not lacking in spice at all! There are relationships within the pack and we get that spice too. Something I especially love is that there is never an instance where it’s said or implied that these relationships are somehow superior or outside of the relationship with Cambrie. It’s always thought and spoken in a way that she will only add and enhance and become part of these relationships. So kudos to the author on a job well done!! IMO Omegaverse is meant to revolve around the omega. Other relationships within the pack are fine, but shouldn’t be held above the relationship with the omega.
I absolutely cannot wait for Part 2. I’m already counting down the days!!
Please just go read this book. It is very much worth reading now even if you have to wait a couple months for part 2.

Rating- 3
Heat- 3
Tropes- omegaverse, RH, age gap, PTSD
Need to know- abuse by a parent

I noticed that most of the negative reviews of this book were due to the age gap. I read a lot of age gap romances, so the actual difference in ages didn’t bother me. Instead it was the difference in maturity of these characters. This particular age gap comes off as more icky because of the immaturity of the FMC. Cambrie has had very little contact with the world since she was abused and kept prisoner by her father, so she naturally is not as mature as other 18 year olds. Since this kind of life would stunt someone’s emotional growth, this is entirely appropriate. The problem lies in pairing someone so childlike with 40 year old men.

I did my best to put the age of the men to the back of my mind and enjoy because this really is a sweet story. The author did a great job writing a character that is both strong and traumatized. Cambrie shows how deep our scars and fears are does not determine our strength and bravery.

I AM SHOOKETH!!!! I love me an omegaverse, and have read my fair share of them, but this book, this book is literary perfection!
The care, the attention, the strong emphasis on consent all *chefs kiss* flawlessness.
I usually love a broody alpha who has a harder shell to crack that fights his feelings until he finally gives in, but this book didn't even need it! Having all the Alphas and Betas totally smitten straight off the hop and wanting to help heal and protect the FMC made this story what it was: a non-stop page turner!
The bad guys are clearly made obvious, you can't help but want to jump into the pages and help dole out the justice that is so thoroughly deserved. October is so far away, I for one cannot wait for book 2!!
