this book truly reinforced the fragility of masculinity, my fucking GOD.
This is the woman I bullied for three years all because she’d rejected me.
I went and got a slutty girlfriend and together, we punished Anna. We did everything in our power to make her feel like she was nothing, because in reality, she was everything, and I knew it and couldn’t claim it as my own.

he bullied her bcos he’s in love with her... *slowly nods head like that makes any fucking sense*

and she didn’t even reject him? he introduced himself in the middle of class (where it’s her first day after skipping a grade so all her classmates are waaaay older than her), she didn’t immediately fall at his feet and rip her clothes off the in the process... then got angry af bcos she was ignoring him??? and proceeded to ask “what’s wrong with you?”

girly is trying to listen to the teaching assignment bro, shut the fuck up😭

it truly made no sense to me lmao. i wish y’all could have read the briefest, dullest interaction i have ever witnessed that catalysed three years of torment and bullying... bcos i don’t have words, oh my god.

He liked me and in the shy and poor communicative culture of high school, we simply had a misunderstanding between us that started it all.

sure, girl. if that’s what you wanna call it, be my guest👁👄👁

also an honourable mention to the hero fucking his girlfriend who also bullied the heroine (like they were a fucking sadistic Bonnie and Clyde) while the heroine watches... and the hero is only fucking his gf bcos he can’t have the heroine... the girl he was relentlessly bullying with said girlfriend.

at least mans went to therapy for five years and actually wanted to actively change, feeling guilt and showing remorse. i give him props for that. bcos present Maverick was actually a really good guy. i felt his guilt full force, it was intense and pretty depressing— i really felt for him and actually believed he wanted forgiveness. it’s not often im fully convinced of a hero’s remorse in a bully romance, but i was here. he was an interesting character so it’s a shame that everything else was executed so poorly.

bcos then all the progress they made where they hung out to just get reacquainted with one another... was directly told to us in one chapter. weeks of groundwork between them, (that was sudden af btw) reduced to a shitty list in the beginning of a random chapter. SHOW ME!! how tf am i supposed to believe anything if you don’t show me?

like we jump FOUR MONTHS?? with them hanging out which seriously throat-punched the fuck out of me since the previous chapter they were barely speaking and Anna was still holding the granddaddy of all grudges... now im being told they went on thirty-six “non-dates” and are building an “us” (whatever that fucking means😭), but he still hasn’t apologised and they’ve refused to acknowledge how he basically ruined her life?

yeah, hmmm, makes total sense to me.

the pacing made zero sense but honestly, if the reason for why he bullied her back then hadn’t been so bizarrely weak and mediocre, then i wouldn’t have hated this lol. but the combination of the odd pacing and the weak justification... i just couldn’t take any of this seriously :///

and the sex was also boring as fuck. there was way too much of it and it was mediocre at best... so you best believe i skimmed the fuck out of it. like ease up on the shitty sex and actually give me some character development that this poor book desperately needed.

literally the only interesting thing about this was Dave and Mars and we don’t get anything about them until the final chapter. id definitely read a book about them.

4.5 stars. BETA read.

I’ll Do Anything is a slow burn enemies to lovers with a very unique plot. I have to add this is Daisy Jane’s best book she has ever written. Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed her other books, but this is on a whole new level and has outstanding originality.

Anna and Maverick have a very complicated past. Maverick was Anna’s bully when she was in high school. She rejected him, and from there, he turned into her worst nightmare. Fast forward ten years later, and Anna is now flourishing and owns a multi-billion dollar company. Maverick is still in their hometown and owns his own welding company. Anna flies home to take care of some business for her grandfather. Far from happy and then unexpectedly runs into Maverick as he rents from her grandfather.

Maverick is excited and regrets everything he has done, and has taken it out on himself through the years. It’s his chance to redeem himself, and after all these years, he still loves her. But he knows he has to take it slow from the start.

So what is so different and makes this original and unique? Well, it’s how he redeems himself. Anna makes more money than a Maverick. He doesn’t let that bother him. Then it’s what Anna has planned. What is the femdom trickery she does she plan? Well, you have to read the book to see what she does and how hot it is. The church scene is my favorite. So.Bloody.Hot. I even wanted to have a cigarette after that.

I will add I love how the author wrote something we hardly ever read and make it normal, which is how it should be and not dead set against or the alternative. It’s more common than we think. Let's not forget tthe power exchange. She wrote such a powerful, independent, but down-to-earth heroine and a hero willing to do anything for her. The author gave a new meaning to ring sting and cage rage. I couldn’t help but laugh at those statements.

Go in with an open mind, and I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

I gave this a try bc it sounded unique but it uses all the same ol tropes. I am sick of books that make the heroine see the hero having sex while she gets nothing. Just because you made your heroine rich and hardened doesnt make her strong. You still wrote her never being able to experience sexual pleasure with someone other than the hero, so she gets bad sex and he gets hot office sex with his "slutty" girlfriend (I hate that word by the way, and write off authors who still use it) and yes you get to be in his head and hear how much he enjoys that sex but it's ok bc he is thinking of the heroine...swoon

There is just no need for a scene like that in the book if you are simultaneously going to make it so the heroine never has her own hot sex, eff that! I'm tired of the imbalance. She could only get turned on by the guy that tormented her and not another guy who probably was treating her right, cmon.

I dont even have much to say about the femdom stuff that might have been fun if it hadnt been soured by the flashbacks every other chapter. To me all I saw was a guy still getting rewarded sexually even tho he should be groveling so eh also the entire part where we would have seen him grovel is skipped over in a time jump, dumb writing choice.

Also a big thing is made at end about her letting him be in her bare, the only time she has ever allowed a man to do that...the hero is silent...why you ask? Bc of the descriptive scene with the gf in the flashback where he didnt use protection, and enjoyed it immensely. She couldnt even be special to him in that way where he had never been bare in a woman before. Why do you authors make these dumb writing choices? I truly wish I knew what is going thru the head to make this type of scene when you are also piling on that he tormented her with this girl. You dont get to just write it off as oh she is slutty, and he didnt love her. Stop using that sexist excuse! In that case why couldnt the heroine also have hot sex with guys she didnt love?

Thankful for KU!

DNF 40%

This book is so long that I wonder what the rest is about because the plot is resolved quickly. Three meetings and Anna magically forgives Maverick. He's just too hot and sexy. Well, her best friend is also pretty insistent on pressuring her into forgiveness. It's irritating to see Anna (Fucking Blake, as she reminds the reader hundreds of times) build herself up to be this big bad bitch and then fold at the slightest breeze. She is a huge bitch, but only towards women and her renters.

The misogyny in this book caught me so off guard that I had to double-check when it was written -in 2021! Anna was bullied heavily by Maverick and his girlfriend, but she only hates the girlfriend because Maverick had "shown remorse. He'd always, despite the bullying, wanted [her] to be okay after." The GF is dead, and Anna's not sure if she should go to her funeral to make amends because she can't forgive her. It's a whole fiasco that doesn't seem to go anywhere. Anna even ends up blaming herself, stating that she "didn't ask for [Maverick] and his girlfriend to bully [her], [she'd] never said a word, either." But she's still hung up on the GF!

I couldn't even bring myself to skip to the femdom. I can't imagine Anna in a dominant position. She gets horny over seeing Maverick and his GF have sex! Anna and Maverick are so incredibly unlikeable with such awful chemistry it would gross me out.

So Much Potential

1.85/5

If y'all know me, you know I'm always SALIVATING for books with FDoms.

So I was so excited when I saw this book!

But then I read it.

I think that the main issues with this book were:

1. The Characters

Anna and Mav weren't fleshed out enough for me to connect with them. Most of Anna's internal monologue went in circles. And while we stan a man who goes to therapy, Mav wasn't dynamic enough to justify his arc.

2. The Plot

It was kind of weird and the random conflicts felt so off. Like, you're trying to tell us that these two are mature and working on communication but they have the strangest conflicts? It just didn't make sense.

3. The Writing

At times, Jane struggled with the tense that they wrote in. I think they were having difficulty with the present tense and slipped up more than a few times.

The flashbacks were not executed well. And the pacing was very off in the first 50%. Because Jane would give us a chapter with one MC's POV, then give us another chapter of the same events with the other MC's POV, it made it very difficult to follow along and figure out how long it's actually been. This didn't happen as much in the latter half, but it was very annoying in the first half.

I think that there wasn't enough of the actual bullying shown in the linear way. I get what Jane was trying to do with flashbacks. But it was so hard to appreciate because of the poor execution.

I also didn't find myself enjoying the writing style in general. Normally, I'm pretty easy to please with writing, but I didn't like the way Jane wrote prose and smut.

I think they'd benefit from an editor.

4. The Misogyny/Gender Essentialism/Microagressive Comments/Fatphobia

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand that 90% of books in the romance genre are chock full of gender essentialism. So it's not just that.

But the weird "alpha" male mentions like every other chapter? That made me VERY uncomfortable. Especially with the prevalence of "alpha male" podcasts that are SO misogynistic.

Also the way that Anna thought that her domming and him subbing was emasculating? We don't stan that sort of mindset.

It was almost like the author was trying to say "when Mav likes this stuff, it's okay, he's still an aLpHa MaLe, but it's actually very bEtA for anyone who isn't a six foot four gym rat."

There were also more than a few microagressive comments towards gay/bi/queer people that I don't care to repeat. Especially since the next book in this series is about a gay couple, I was shocked to see those lines where they implied that being gay was a bad thing that made someone less desirable/masculine. I really did NOT like it.

Like there's a difference between showing bigotry versus having your seemingly "open-minded" characters laughing about not being gay because it would hurt their masculinity.

And the fatphobia/weight stigma. Again, like I've mentioned in previous reviews, it's definitely a trigger for me. But I hated the way Anna talked about food in this book. I despised it, actually.

5. The Spice and the Kiss

I was extremely disappointed with the spice in this book. Poorly written, lack of details, and lackluster descriptions marred most scenes. Plus Anna is supposed to be an FDom but the last few scenes did not show that well enough.

This is one of those times where a book passed PCNC protocol but still had bad spice.

AND THE KISS WASN'T EVEN MADE INTO A BIG DEAL! IT WAS SUCH AN IMPORTANT MOMENT, AND JANE JUST GLOSSED OVER IT.

I think I'll give Jane another chance to redeem themselves, but I am very disappointed. I expected better.

Breakdown:

0.85 ⭐ for an MMC that goes to therapy
0.25 ⭐ for the FDom
0.25 ⭐ for the FMC being adventurous in bed
0.15 ⭐ for the bully actually regretting their actions
0.15 ⭐ for the way the author handled self-harm and therapy
0.15 ⭐ for the risks the author took, even if they didn't pay off
0.05 ⭐ for the vibrator scene

Don't be frightened by the title

Don't be frightened by the title, there's no leather clad dominatrix with a man on a chainlink lead crawling at her feet. This is actually a really sweet small town story, so sweet that it was a bit too much for me - even the potential big drama at the end was dealt with sweetly lol
The book is well written, but I had two issues with the storyline: I felt the jump from "enemies" accidentally bumping into each other to becoming best friend was skimmed over when it really was a big step. Also (I hate to say this) but I think there was too much focus on sex in the second half of the book...

If you like your romance books sweet, you'll love this book. If you prefer them a bit more dark or angsty, then maybe not...

4.5 stars. I appreciated here that it was clearly acknowledged that both lead characters but especially the male lead, Maverick, had serious mental health issues and that a professional was involved to help him recover. I liked that there was no pretense that it is reasonable for serious mental damage to be overcome solely through one’s persistence and determination.

The female lead, Anna, had hardened herself when she left their small hometown to build herself into someone who couldn’t be broken. I liked that she was determined to make him work for the forgiveness he clearly craved. And I liked how clearly the author showed that broken people break people. And how true reconciliation can create better outcomes for both parties.

The story was dual POV, mostly present time with some flashbacks, well written, and showed so much character and relationship development. I expected, based on the blurb, that this would be a highly erotic romance with not much else but, actually, it was a genuine romance with some highly erotic sections, and the portions that would be attributed as soft femdom actually served to build the relationship, not just the sex.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

“What would you do,” she licks her lips, and studies her hands on my chest before looking back up to me. “To prove to me you’re not him?” (The bully)
“Anything,” I say honestly. “I’ll do anything.”

I really really wanted to love this book. I mean, look at it, what's not to love right?! A refreshing new concept, femdom, bullying, and slow burn with a sexual tension that you'll have to use a machete to cut through.

It had all that...until it didn't. After, say 56%, it started dragging unnecessarily. I realized a while later that there was no relevant plot or story after that, I was just reading the day-to-day activities of the Main Characters.

This was my second femdom romance and I loved the first one I read so much that I wanted to experience the same trope again without it being erotica. Unfortunately, It was disappointing to say the least cuz I was genuinely so excited to get into this story.

It had a potential to be GREAT, if only it had been shorter.

DNF @ 46%

I loved the premise of this SO. MUCH. Childhood bullies to friends to lovers, he recognised he was wrong, gets therapy to be a better person and forgive himself, and asks forgiveness from her. It’s a lovely premise and the potential for character growth and relationship development was super high.

And then we skip forward three months and get told they’re friends now? Out of nowhere? Nah.

At 46% through the book I felt no warm tingly feelings towards either character or their relationship and didn’t care either way whether they ended up together which is a sure sign for me that there’s no point trying to continue

The ABSOLUTE SLOWEST OF BURNS

And I loved every minute of it. This is the first time I’ve read a bully romance and didn’t have at least a chapter of wishing the “victim” would just beat the crap out of the bully and walk away.

How is a book where there isn’t actual seggs until 3/4 through so damn HOT?!?

Lastly, I NEED a story where the sheriff and the MC prez get their HEA

If I had properly read the full subtitle of his book, I probably would have skipped by this book. And that would’ve been a crying shame because I LOVED this book.

It has my favourite trope - reformed bully making amends. And boy does Maverick do this!

Maverick has always regretted how he treated Anna when they were younger. There’s no excuse - he was 21 and she was 18. He was her boss at the car wash they worked at and together with his girlfriend, they tortured the poor “goth girl” because she was different. Well, his girlfriend probably did it for that reason - Mav did it because he was obsessed with her, sexually.

A decade later, after escaping her hometown to NYC at 18, Anna is back to help out her beloved grandad. She’s beautiful, successful and rich. Everything Mav and his girlfriend told her she wouldn’t be. She’s cool, aloof and businesslike. She will never be like the timid Anna from her youth.

Mav considers it fate that Anna is back. Now is his chance to apologise, to do what he wanted to do instead of bullying her. He would do ANYTHING to make it up to her and perhaps develop a romantic relationship.

But just how far is he willing to go for forgiveness?

This book met all my bully satisfaction needs. Sometimes I think bullies haven’t redeemed or grovelled enough, or the h has forgiven too quickly. Anna is gracious but she comes up with a unique way for Mav to prove his regret plus a way for him to experience a sliver of what she went through. The sexual tension in this was

I got this book as a recommendation from a FB group. At first I’m thinking this is gonna be a hard core femdom book(see my mind is in the gutter😉) but what it turned out to be a beautiful story about love, family, friendship.

Mav and Anna didn’t have the best of beginnings when they were still in high school. What Maverick did to Anna really had a major impact on his life. But after so many years of self hatred he got help and was working on making amends with Anna, he just needed to find her. Then Anna comes back unexpectedly at the behest of her grandfather, Mav and Anna reconnect. Mav just wants to show how sorry he is and Anna isn’t sure if she can believe him. So she decides to test that theory and try something a bit out of the ordinary. A 🐓🔒 for his 🍆 and Anna holds the 🔑. Maverick was willing to do anything to show his remorse to Anna. At times I thought of him as a bit of a pushover but he really truly loved Anna and wanted to be with her. Twelve weeks of uncomfortableness is a small price to pay for all he did to her.

I love how this story progressed from self loathing to forgiveness to love. It was a beautiful story. I am so happy that they got their HEA. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I may be cheap but I’m not that cheap. The bar is low but it ain’t that low. I was expecting more groveling in this book. And although the MMC did the right thing by going to therapy I expected more.

Honestly I expected more groveling and him fighting for Anna. I feel like it lacked in that area and because of that the romance didn’t work for me. Their relationship was off, moved way too fast and the pacing wasn’t it.

The only thing I liked about this book was Dave. That’s why this is 2 stars and not 1. I’ll definitely read his book because Dave was amazing. I want to know more about him and Mars.

I didn’t enjoy this but maybe you will 🤷‍♀️. Toodles!

I am just not sure how to rate this..

It wasn't bad, was interesting to read, kinda cool to see the h not enacting revenge per say but taking over control.. of his male parts for 12 weeks.. just can't decide why she came up with this idea, that felt a bit random😅 regardless.. it was also kinda 🔥..

In the end, I believed his love, as he literally would have done anything for her.. he kinda did.. just wasn't sure about hers for some reason. Hmm.. need to think about this one.
Oh yeah, and the reason for bullying - defo lame..

So much potential

I liked this book, the idea was really good but it wasn’t executed how I thought it was gonna be executed. I feel that for a bully romance, this book was too insta-lovie and it was more on the healing side of both characters and not actual bullying.

It was an OK read, it was fun, and light but I do think that it was too long and I got bored sometimes because the plot was dragged too much.

TRIGGER WARNING: sa
(though if you’ve read this book you won’t need the trigger warning)

the author should have gotten an editor to read over this book before publishing it. almost every other page has a grammatical or spelling error of some kind. i normally don’t care about this but the fact that it was so much really took me out of it.

that’s not the only thing that took me out of it either - i signed up for a book about a boy bullying someone (like teasing). but come to find out he straight up assaulted her. then later on you find out he literally sexually assaulted her. and her best friend, knowing all of this, basically goes “girl people change” to her about her sexual assaulter? and then she proceeds to fall in love with her sexual assaulter? if this was a book about a woman getting stockholm syndrome, i feel like it would work, but even her loved ones who know about his sexual assault were completely ok with it.

i know this isn’t meant to be taken so seriously, and also i love when books really piss me off so i finished it (i just want to feel something yaknow) so in that sense, i praise the author. that’s why i had to do two stars. it’s going on my “books that piss me off” shelf along with “flowers in the attic” and “petals on the wind”. don’t even get me started on those…

Okay, I guess I was in a hella bad mood yesterday.

Read it - liked it but didn't love it.

I thought the h turned the story around. I'm not going to say I liked how she made the H do his penance and achieve forgiveness for bullying her, but the H did a lot of work to get here and it's been 5+ years so it was interesting.

I liked some truth bombs dropped in the book that have nothing to do with the storyline:

❶ athletes, rich people have meal delivery services to get their hot bods. 📝 totally makes sense

⓶ can still be bad in bed despite being rich - eg stock broker, nfl player, hedge fund person - bc being good in bed requires you to be in tune with the other person...hard to do if you don't connect with them emotionally

****

I'm not going to rate this.

This was all sorts of boring. 😴I hate to say it really.

I liked the first 125 pages where the bully H and meek h backstory/flashback and present-day are fleshed out. But then it went down like the economy in 2008.⬇️

I went into this one filled with a little apprehension. I didn’t know what femdom was and if I would enjoy it. I thought maybe it would be an alpha woman with her being all over powering. Would I like that kind of read? But once I started I realized it was nothing like I thought it would be. It was actually pretty great. Anna wasn’t at all dominant like I thought she would be. She kept it low key, sensual and so very sexy.

The story flew by with Jane’s amazing storytelling and imagination that had me tightly in her grips. I couldn’t get enough of everything that was transpiring between Anna and Mav since her return to Oakcreek. And before I realized it, I was nearing the end and wishing there was more to read.

Jane is a powerful author and I want to read whatever she publishes. She nudges my reading boundaries and has me dipping into areas I didn’t know I enjoyed. I’LL DO ANYTHING gets all the stars!!

Did I stay up all night to finish this? Next question. Goodreads says it's 350 pages, but Kindle says 490... Anyway loved this and ate it up. Not a big fan of bully romances, but I did really enjoy this one. It didn't seem childish, and in the end I forgave the mmc. The smut.... lordy give me some holy water. Love a good femdom book, and this did not disappoint. Will not look at waffles the same. The title name drop was 😩🤚 Sheriff.... denial is a river in Egypt... Overall, the plot was good and the smut smutted. Definitely will read more from this author.

3.5 stars. I picked this up because it was recommended by Heather Guerre on her Instagram “for fans of Preferential Treatment.” I’m in.

This was described as “bully femdom.” She’s back in her hometown and sees her high school bully. He’s been going to therapy for the last 5 years and has self-harmed (in the past/off-page) because of his actions. They slowly become friends and he apologizes, she learns he’s always wanted her. They get together - but she tells him he has to wear a chastity cage for 12 weeks while they work on their issues and become a couple.

That was about the extent of the femdom; nothing like Preferential Treatment if that’s what you’re expecting like I was. Otherwise I enjoyed the story and thought it was a pretty good bully romance, just not the femdom I’ve been looking for since PT. It for sure needs some editing and suffers a little from telling rather than showing.

Skip-bo earned them another star

This book was just ok for me. I felt the biggest problem was that there were too many words for nothing to really happen. We went through each week basically every day of the 12 weeks that did not need that much detail. While reading, I kept thing "hurry up, I don't care about this." I was going to give it two stars because I got really bored once the 12 weeks started, but they played a game of skip-bo at the end, and I love that game.

My first time for this author and I’m pleased she kept me entertained in this bad boy changed man to get the forgiveness that he needs. He’ll work real hard to get it and you’ll enjoy every minute!

This was my first time reading anything by Daisy & i cannot express how much i loved this book.

10 years ago, Maverick bullied and tormented Anna… now Anna’s back in town and he’s determined to make things right.

This book was so beautifully written! I can honestly say I’ve never read a slow burn or bully romance like this.

Let me start off by praising Daisy Jane for the healing she gives Maverick, while i do love bully romances & enemies to lovers, the common theme has always been “the heroine accepts the Hero as he is & yes, he softens towards her but other than that she forgives & forgets.” & okay yes give me all the angsty feels BUT it touched my heart (& my🐱) the growth that Maverick goes through! We love a self aware king!! Admitting fault, seeking professional help & proving himself to not just Anna, but those closest to him. I loved it. & the grovel? 😘🤌🏼
Anna, of course, is wary… this is the same person that tormented her 10 years ago and she’s not sure she can trust that he’s truly change… but as time goes by they get to reintroduce themselves, their new selves, to each other & those feelings that never went away become impossible to ignore. So when Maverick tell Anna that he wants her and he is ready & willing to prove himself to her, she comes up with a plan. Maverick has to keep a chastity cage on his dick for the first 12 weeks - TWELVE WEEKS - of their relationship to atone for the past. & i know what you’re thinking: “12 weeks with no fun?” WRONG. This is one of the hottest fucking books I’ve ever read & he doesn’t penetrate her until the end. *cough cough* note how i said HE doesn’t penetrate HER… Anna gets very creative with the ways to please her man while having his dick caged. Fuck. Me. 😩 and while the steam had me on a puddle, it’s the level of intimacy these two shared that really gave me with kitty butterflies.
You guys, read this fucking book. It’s everything.
