History of the Netherlands: The Dutch Wars, Wealth, Navy, Trade, and Culture

Rate this book
This is a great package of several titles in one book. The topics are all related to the history of the Netherlands. Let’s take a look at the topics.

Early Dutch The Netherlands has a history that dates far back, even before Roman times. Let’s take a look at what happened during the times of the Romans. I remember visiting the Netherlands and visiting the city of Utrecht, a major hub in the central part of the country. According to history, it was called Ultratrajectum about 2,000 years ago, and it was a Roman settlement. After the fall of the Roman Empire, or during it, we slowly see a transition into different cultures, habits, and beliefs, which inaugurated, at the time, the Medieval centuries, the Middle Ages.

The In this book, we will shed more light on the Batavians, a people in history with much bravery, innovation, and determination to form a republic with freedom for its citizens. The Republic of the 7 United Netherlands was followed by the Batavian Republic. It started on January nineteenth, 1795, and ended on June fifth, 1806, with Louis I's succession to the Dutch throne.

The Dutch The Dutch were all over the world. They "owned" and colonized a big portion of what was then the known world. They were among the first settlers, had the biggest haven and biggest fleet for some time. The Dutch East-Indian Trading Company, or VOC, is probably the biggest or at least one of the biggest companies that has ever existed, with its shareholders, its ships, its spices and trading routes, and so much more. Learn more about what happened in the same area that's currently the United States, South Africa, Indonesia, and so many areas across the world.

The Eighty Years The war between the protestant Netherlands, mostly led by William of Orange, and Catholic Spain, was one of the marks in Dutch history. This war has determined the beliefs of many people who now live about the three rivers that go through the Most of the people north of the rivers are protestant, and most of the believers below them (even throughout Belgium as well) are Catholic. This is no coincidence. The war in the 1600s has become a symbol of Dutch resistance, independence, and the royal family (of Orange). In that sense, traditions date back hundreds of years, some them that have their roots in this century.

The Golden The Dutch Golden Era was a time in Dutch history varying circa from 1588 (the start of the Dutch Republic) to 1672 (the "Catastrophe Year"), throughout which Dutch trade, science, and art, and the Dutch armed force, were amongst the world's best.
