Sequel to the much-acclaimed and very funny Pitching Up !
The Woodsman pub and campsite is under new management, with new staff and improved facilities. The old gang, plus some additional characters, return by invitation to ‘check it out’, and the adventures begin; retaliating against marauding motorbikes in the middle of the night, enduring a bike tour to hell and back, watching Tel and Sophie jumping from a plane and witnessing Tel having some sort of nervous breakdown, fighting against the tyranny of Liv’s father and soon-to-be ex-husband, and almost losing a vastly expensive ring. You can’t get much more memorable than a camping trip like this – perfect holiday reading.
Another easy read following the campers on their next adventure. Can’t help put picture the areas surrounding where I work and think of my wonderful aunt as the character Faye enjoying her holidays. Love thinking that some of the character inspiration came from my mom and Nan in this one haha!
The gang are back on the campsite this time has honoured guests at the new improved facilities but who is the new owner?
Doug and Faye are having a marriage crisis mainly caused by Faye’s sister, Flo, who never stops talking. Mark is excited to meet up with Olivia again, she has dumped controlling Richard and is now an independent woman. Tel and Sophie are struggling with their long distance relationship but time together makes them reconsider what is important.
Feel good, found family hijinks which is so quintessentially British it makes me smile, very much like a modern day Carry On story.
I had to stop reading Pitching up again. The only reason is, I had gotten to the point where Jim fell through the roof of that caravan and I couldn't stop laughing so hard I was crying. Husband thought there was an altercation going on outside then realised it was me. I couldn't stop for ages. I tried to read it to him but I had to stop and try to compose myself, I sort of managed it. Oh my goodness. Thank you.
Read the first one and screamed with laughter! The second one is just as good. Good enough that I've bought the whole series. I think it's partly because Faye and Brian remind me of my Mum and Dad and their caravans. They're the "campers helping campers" with the drill in the boot and the minor arguments about putting the awning up. If you've ever camped in the English countryside, or if you're a camper, read these books because you'll see the truth in them from the first chapter!
Just as funny as the first book, Pitching Up!. So pleased the same characters were about and a few new ones to get to know. Who wouldn’t have a great holiday with that bunch of friends. A sheer delight to read, made me laugh out loud many times.
Second of the series and an absolutely great and funny read. All the main characters are here, along with some memorable new ones, and I thoroughly enjoyed it as much as the first one. Now on to number 3, with great expectation.
So enjoyable, loved every page of this second book in the series, felt like I was there with them on the campsite ! Beautiful, funny, insightful writing with many many laughs - wonderful !
Totally enjoying the Pitching Up series and all the fun and interesting characters. I definitely laughed out loud more than a few times. Can't wait for next adventure!
Can actually picture this group together. Story was fairly predictable but enjoyed nevertheless. Hope the author produces more, makes me want a caravan!
Omg i thought I was going to die laughing, the first two books are hilarious read both in a day and a half, off now to read more shenanigans with the pitching up crew
Absolutely fantastic book, I really enjoyed listening to this book on audiobooks. I have not laughed so much at a book. Well read by Lee I would recommend this book.
Well this is one case where the sequel is just as good as the first book. The same cast of characters meet up for a fully complementary week at the campground which has made major improvements. Everyone needs a big old friendly yet intimidating guy like Brian to hang around with. A lot more hysterical adventures of the gang. The sister of Faye has joined for this trip and causes a lot of chaos and Liv's ex and dad threaten the peace of the camping trip. If you enjoyed the first book you need to read this one too, full of action and laughs. I really hope there is a Book 3.
brilliant followup to the already incredible Pitching Up! book 1 - cannot wait to read the next ones - it is currently the only thing getting me through my summer job and it was as brilliant as ever.
