With a contagious expectancy, pastor Steve Austin delivers eight proven keys to win the battle for your health and receive divine healing--both physically and spiritually. This potent injection of hope will help you and your loved ones strengthen and expand your faith, pray effectively, and heal your battle-weary souls. It's never too late for Him--or you.
Steve Austin was a pastor when he nearly died by suicide. Years of performance-based Christianity taught Austin to sweep the pain of childhood sexual abuse, plus the shame of PTSD, anxiety, and depression under the rug.
When it came to his suffering, Austin believed it was best not to let anyone know about his secrets - especially church folks. As a result, fear, shame, and guilt were Austin’s constant companions.
Thankfully, a suicide attempt was not the end of his story.
When Austin realized his life wasn’t over, he set about figuring out how to embrace vulnerability by asking for professional help and sharing the uncomfortable truth about his story.
In short: he gave himself permission to be human for the very first time.
Since going public, Austin has learned that countless others are desperate to live an authentic life, too. These days, he helps hurting people find an integrated approach to wholeness, including mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
Since 2012, Austin has written several books, including: Catching Your Breath and Slow Miracles. His work has been featured in USA Today, Huffington Post, The Mighty, and other outlets. He has become a leading voice at the intersection of faith and mental health.
Today, Austin consults church leaders from around the U.S. on how to make their faith communities a safe place for those who are suffering. He also hosts the Catching Your Breath podcast, blogs regularly at catchingyourbreath.com, and is a sought-after speaker at international conferences.
God Heals: Eight Keys to Defeat Sickness and Receive Divine Healing by Steve Austin is book that offers hope for all Christians battling a serious illness (or their loved ones).
God Heals is divided into eight sections with key takeaways: God is a Healer, Unleashing the Power of Faith, Miracle in Your Mouth, Prayer That Works, Praise Precedes the Victory, Healing the Soul, Winning the Invisible Battle, and Taking Care of Your Temple. Following the eight keys, there is a chapter about how Jesus used healing in the Bible and then a chapter of short devotions designed to build faith in the reader to receive healing.
I learned a lot through God Heals. There was also information I already knew as a Christian but some of it I needed a reminder or refresher on. All of the information is presented with Scripture to back it up. There are also some good real life stories of healing in the book, which are also encouraging. At the same time, Austin shares how and why healing may not happen in this world.
I especially liked the prayers to pray that were throughout God Heals. I also liked the Scripture to write and remember to keep in your head or to pray over your loved one, if you are not the one who is ill. I also like that Austin points out that our body is a temple and we have a responsibility to do our part in taking care of it so he offers some basic dietary and exercise advice (which is based on some solid functional medical doctors' advice that Austin references.) I think God Heals would be appropriate for any Christians. It is published by a charismatic publisher and Joel Osteen writes the forward--but the information is solid for any Christian who believes Jesus is their savior. Everything is backed up with Scripture that applies to all Christians. I think it would make a good gift for someone who is seriously ill, or their loved one, besides purchasing a copy for your own situation. For me, it is a keeper book to have in my library for whenever I want to reference it.

In God Heals, Steve Austin explored the much-needed topic of healing and how to unleash the power of our faith. Steve Austin is a former attorney and has been a pastor at Lakewood Church for over 20 years. He is also an active member of ministering to Houston’s Texas Medical Center and this is one of the largest medical centers in the entire world. He has firsthand witnessed healing. In the book, he discussed eight keys: “unleashing the power of faith, praying prayers that work, utilizing the miracle in our mouth, taking care of your temple”, just to name a few. He explained how he came to believe in the fact that God still heals people in today’s time. He grew up in a church not knowing about the healing business. All of that changed when he met an evangelist who conducting healing crusades all over the world. He went on a trip to India with him and hired a videographer to document video proof of miraculous healing that took place. He shared how he witnessed and prayer for a man who was paralyzed on his left side get healed, a woman who was in a wheelchair to begin to walk, and people with tumors and cancers in their bodies. He also stated how he asked God why people in American aren’t seeing the healings. He shared how God spoke to him about how we tend to put our faith in doctors and we google everything and this is hindering our believing for a miracle. He also explained how churches aren’t teaching on healings. He also discussed why sickness occurs: we have fallen bodies that make us more prone to sickness, toxins and viruses are more prevalent, and we have an enemy that will attack us. He deliberated on how sickness and disease aren’t from God.
In the book, he also shared the story of Dodie Osteen and how she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic liver cancer and given 6 weeks to live. She grew worst and was down to 89 pounds and her skin was yellow. All of this occurred in 1981. Her and her husband prayed and believed for a miracle. She was healed and she is still alive today. He enlightened on how she kept her faith in tack during this difficult season. One of the ways was she kept God’s word in front of her and she read and saw the healing scriptures daily all over her house. She also spoke out loud the healing scriptures over her life. Another insight, she did was write a letter to all of her family members and friends asking them for forgiveness if she ever offended them or hurt them. He revealed the powerful scripture found in Romans 12:18 about being at peace with all people.
One of my favorite things, he discussed was the bulldog faith and how Dodie and the women with the issue of the blood had bulldog faith in believing that Jesus would heal them. He compared the bulldogs to the sport of bullfighting and how they would latch onto a bull and hold on to them where they wouldn’t be killed. This was a very effective example of not allowing the sickness to overtake us or to defeat us. We can all have a fighter spirit. He also shared another example of Bea and how she was a fighter even when she faced multiple different things that should have killed her.
I would recommend this wonderful book on healing to anyone who is ready to increase their faith and they are wanting to learn how to believe for healing. Steve does an excellent job in writing such an impactful book that contained key principles we can use to change our lives physically and spiritual. One of my favorite lessons in the book was speaking out daily scripture declarations about healing, victory, fear, strength, sleep, and peace. I also connected to the prayers he included to pray over different areas of our lives. Another favorite chapter was the only that discussed our temple and how to eat the right foods to protect our immune system and to live a healthier life. I also liked how he explained how he has seen ill patients be given unhealth food options and this is very informative on how this could be one of the reasons that sick bodies aren’t receiving the proper nutrients needed to heal. The keys presented in this book will greatly change your life if you will live them out daily!

This uplifting book offers assistance when asking God for healing. The author has eight principles that he believes will help you. Over the years, using them, he has seen many healed. Included are some of the healings that took place in the Bible along with examples he has witnessed. Lots of encouragements will keep your spirits up.
In the section of Prayers that Avail Much, the author supplies prayers for things like: the healing of yourself and your family, guidance for your healthcare workers, good sleep, finances, and freedom from worry, depression, doubt, and anxiety.
Although the author states that he has seen many people healed, some have not been, and he doesn't know the answer to that. He wrote this book about healing despite that his mother fought hard against an illness, but did not survive. His advice is to follow the points in this book for healing, but to put everything in God's hands to work it out. Remember that ultimately, God is in control, and we do not always understand His ways.
Whether healing comes or not, the book's suggestions will bring your spirit peace. Things like listening to praise music and praising God, listing your blessings, and being thankful to God despite your circumstances will strengthen you, and build you up.
Included is a helpful list of some of the names of God, including: Jehovah Rapha, The God Who Heals You; Jehovah Baal Perazim, The God of the Breakthrough; and El Roi, The God Who Sees.
I really appreciate that the author admits that in the end, there will be those that do not receive a healing. But despite that, keep the faith, and trust God. This positive, five-star book will be an asset to anyone who longs to be made whole.
Thank you, Chosen Books, for providing Tickmenot with a book to review. Opinions are my own.
This book is very inspiring resource for those who are seeking healing for themselves or others.
It contains Eight Keys that will lead you toward receiving healing, these Keys are something many of us might not know.
As I read through this book I was amazed at the amount of biblical information on healing. It is full of scriptures on healing that will build up your faith.
The author does affirm everything he says with scripture and gives many testimonies of healings he has experienced.
Each chapter gives a step-by-step process you can do to achieve healing such as many scriptures you can declare daily, praying prayers that work, praising God using His many names, and much more that will build your faith.
If you are looking for a great book on healing, I would recommend you get a copy of this book and not only read it, but take it to heart and implement what it is saying.
