Im easily entertained, so it's shocking how much i hated it this..

Cedric & Abel are so cute!! Their relationship was the sweetest too, loved seeing them support eachother through everything. Dragons are freaking awesome!

I don’t know why I do this to myself. I’m gonna blame it on the blurb. The blurbs are so good. Then I read and I’m so disappointed. Maybe because I’m a sucker for dragons/shifter human troupes. Another one I’m not happy with. The story was decent enough, but that’s it. I want claiming/mating to be this big to do. You are physically vowing to be with this person for the rest of your life, no turning back. And this is your fated mate the one the goddess blessed you with shouldn’t there be some kind of grandness to it? On top of that knots. Knots are Hawt, please give me the hawtness that knots provide if they are going to be part of the story. Other than that very insta love which mates and all but shouldn’t the human have some kind of struggle with this? I don’t know 2 for a nice try.

This was just mostly disappointing. It’s a poorly defined worldview, with minimal character and plot development, no suspense, no drama, no angst, just nothing to make it interesting. There are far better dragon tales out there.

It was cute. I don't remember reading a dragon book from this duo, but I liked it. It's standard comfort fare, sweetness with enough conflict to drive the plot forward but not enough to cause big drama. And dragons, which I appreciate.

UnexpEGGted is the first book in the ‘Love at First Shift’ series. It stars Cedric, a dragon shifter, and Abel, a human Alpha. This is told in first person from both Cedric and Abel’s pov.
This story is a fast, fluffy, and simple read. The blurb describes the plot so I won’t go into it that much more. The book is divided clearly into sections. The first half is about Cedric and Abel discovering each other, and readers learning about who the characters are, and about their jobs and families. The next quarter is about them mating, meeting the family, and working out the details of how Cedric fits into inheriting the Alpha position of the dragon clan when he’s an omega. The last quarter is all about Cedric being pregnant and giving birth. This a very low-key book, no angst, and it focuses on everyday stuff like work, talking, eating, being pregnant and giving birth. If you like reading about ordinary things, families, pregnancy, and birth, then you’ll probably like this story. But other than that, nothing happens. The one thing I found interesting was the little bit of world building the authors created. But as usual, like in their other stories, they never give much detail about the worlds the characters live in. Just enough to tell it’s different from our world.

It’s instant lust when Cedric, who’s shifted for the first time, finds his mate. Abel doesn’t know that shifters exist but has always liked the fantasy of them, so he doesn’t have any trouble accepting that Cedric is a dragon shifter. Both characters had a lot of monologue. They told us what they thought, felt, and the environment around them. It was more telling than showing how they felt, so I couldn’t identify with them because I wasn’t pulled in by anything the characters talked about. In addition, both characters’ voices sounded the same. If the chapters weren’t titled with the character names, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. This is a weakness that the authors have when writing characters. I’ve read many books by these different author teams hoping they’d improve their writing over the years, but I don’t think they plan to, because the stories have the same problems over and over again. Both Cedric and Abel are just ordinary nice guys who aren’t complex characters. There’s nothing distinct or memorable about them in terms of personality.
I read an ARC of this book, so it’s probably already out for publication. I’m hoping they had a final beta check through, because I found inconsistencies in some scenes in the ARC I read. Knotting for the first time is briefly mentioned, and then a couple sentences later, Abel is rolling away. Did they knot for like ten seconds? Because it certainly came across like that. Simple instances like that scene should’ve been fixed, but weren’t.
Overall, this is an okay book if you want to read a story that doesn’t have any angst and where you can just let your mind drift. If your thing is reading about pregnancy and births, and don’t care that the character voices sound the same or there isn’t anything distinct about them, you’d probably like this story. I found UnexpEGGeted okay, but not memorable. I give it 3 Stars.

I gave this book 2.5 stars. I used to really like Lorelei M. Hart, but the quality of her books has gone downhill the last year or so. There were some big editing issues ( I read on Kindle Unlimited), and it was pretty short, at around 170 pages. I was finding myself bored while reading the book and, at one point, almost DNF'd the book. That's why I gave the book such a low rating. I found myself skimming and wanting to get to the end. I really like fated mates/omegaverse/mpreg books, so that is not the reason for this rating. It was just eh.

Cedric is a dragon shifter who is nearing his 25th birthday. Dragon shifters have their first shift at 25 and they present as alpha or omega then. Everyone expected Cedric to be an alpha dragon because his family hadn't produced an omega in generations. He is the heir to the clan. However inside something makes Cedric wonder if he will be a disappointment to his family. Midnight on his birthday, he does shift and he is floored that he is an omega. Afraid to face his family's possible disappointment and disapproval, he flies off into the night. When his dragon gets tired, Cedric finds himself far from home and naked. He is surprised by a human hiker and his dog. The human, Abel is an alpha and Cedric's fated mate. Cedric shifts uncontrollably into his dragon and then back to human leaving him with having to do a big explanation to Abel. Now Cedric has to wonder if his human mate will be accepted by his clan.
Abel used to live in the desert with his dog Woofy. An awkward break-up has Abel quickly applying for jobs far away from the desert. Abel loves his new job up in the mountains even though it doesn't pay as well. He loves the chance to hike in the mountains with Woofy. One day on his hike he runs across a naked man who turns into a dragon. Abel is very attracted to Cedric and is happy to learn that they are fated mates. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story about Cedric and Abel. Cedric is approaching his 25th birthday which means that his dragon will show on his first shift and what he will present to be either an alpha or omega. The day has come when Cedric presents his dragon and to his mortification he learns he has presented as an Omega. After a long line of alphas, he has decided to hide from his family until he comes to grips with his designation, imagine his excitement when he walks into his fated mate who is a human alpha.
Abel works as an administrator in the hospital and has finally found his peace after moving to his new location, he is surprised when he is hiking up the mountain with his dog and finds a naked man who he finds incredibly attractive, he is shocked when he discovers that he is also a dragon.
This story is hilarious as well as sweet and of course there is the usual heated moments between the Alpha and Omega and the joy that they find with each other especially when their family expands and they live their life with a happily ever after.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and review with my honest and fair opinion.

I really enjoyed this story about Cedric and his family, along with him finding his mate Abel. Life doesn't always go as planned and that's what happened to Cedric. On his 25th birthday he was supposed to shift for the very first time and present as an alpha. Only one of those things ended up happening. After flying around as his dragon he lands in a clearing that just so happens to have his mate.
I liked the progression of this story it was a nice light read. It had some steamy moments but not too many. It had a lot of cute moments that I really enjoyed. I loved the familial aspect in this story, they were apart of every part of the process and they were so supportive. I love Woofy and all of Cedric's family. I'm looking forward to reading about Kirin, his character intrigued me. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is cause I wish there was more backstory on Abel, we didn't really get to know much about him.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and I recommend reading this.

A super sweet love story! Cedric is a dragon shifter waiting for his first shift on his 25th birthday. Then he will also find out if he is an omega or an alpha. And as luck would have it he meets his fated mate on his birthday. Abel isn't a shifter at all and doesn't know they exist until he witnesses Cedric shifting in front of him. Although in shock, Abel is immediately attracted to Cedric. Cedric senses Abel is his mate. This is a very low angst story. The story of their love is sweet and protective and all about acceptance no matter who or what you are. There is a wonderful theme throughout the book of loving and supportive family who accept you unconditionally. Cedric and Abel build a happy and content life together with a very happy addition to their family. I really enjoyed reading this sweet and imaginative story!.

This is the first book in the Love At First Shift series. I enjoyed the book a lot. There is a lot of world building to set the scene for the story but the main characters are Dragon shifter Cedric and human Alpha Abel. Cedric has been groomed his whole life to become the Alpha of his Flight. On his 25th birthday he does his first shift. It is then that he can see his beautiful colours and find out his designation. It is not what was expected. Hard to be an Alpha of the Flight when you are an omega. Reeling from the shock and disappointment he meets Abel who is out hiking in the woods. Abel has been a fan of dragons for years and assumes that when he sees one change into a human that he is unconscious and just dreaming. Insta Love happens as you would expect for fated mates. This is their story. It is easy to read and a really sweet story. You are sure to have a smile on your face.

Cedric a shifter his dragon due to make an appearance on this twenty-fifth birthday showing if he is alpha enough to take over the Flight from his father but the moment he meets Abel is an alpha but human the moment these two meet they know they are meant to be together but before it all Cedric learns he isn’t an alpha as his family had hopped but an omega however, that doesn’t stop his mate from loving or wanting him but will he be accepted as a dragon shifter, will his family accept him not being an alpha, even though he isn’t an alpha will he still be allowed to take over the Flight, and is there a HEA to be had for the two of them?.

This is an unexpEGGtedly great new twist on dragons...no shifting or designation until your 25th birthday. I fell in love with Cedric and Abel from the first pages. Their emotions are raw and real. There is a lot of humor. Just reread their first diner "date". Clothes don't always make the dragon. I loved Cedric's entire family, from Father to little sister. And of course, a sweet dog named...wait for it... Woofy. Woofy loves all the dragons, and they love him. Cedric has one of the best nesting scenes ever! If this is the quality of the first book, I can't wait for the rest of the series! You are simply gonna love this book. Get. It. Now!.

Absolutely adored this Love at first shift story/couple. The uniqueness grabbed me from the start. Cedric's dilemma of meeting his beast, finding out his designation and plus...plus meeting his mate was very dramatic but instead of freaking out...he handled his situation very well. Abel...moving to the mountains...having a fresh start finally found his happiness when he met Cedric. Loved how the dragons were sooooo accepting of Abel...the community was sooooo welcoming and supportive of the couple. This was such an enjoyable read...not exactly fluff but very sweet with a lil spice. Nice start to the series and really I'm hooked...can't wait for Kirin's story:)

Cedric and Abel story was funny with a side of sweetness and feelings.
I liked the premise of a dragon shifter mated to a human as well as the sudden shift as he meets his mate. His designation came as a surprise which prompted him the flight to takes him to his mate.

I adored the pregnancy period and the hatching, the way they dotted on the egg and when their bundle of joy makes its appearance.
It was an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
I liked the premise of a dragon shifter mated to a human as well as the sudden shift as he meets his mate. His designation came as a surprise which prompted him the flight to takes him to his mate.

On his twenty-fifth birthday, the day he presents, he finds out he’s an omega and meets his fated mate, a human, Abel, on the same day. He is conflicted with facing his family and telling them about the two events. I like the way the family accepts Abel and how Abel accepts Cedric after he sees he’s a dragon. This story shows that although people are put in holes that are expected to be in, they can still fulfill the role regardless of their status or being. A great lesson told.

Abel and dog Woofy moved to a new town and job is working in the admin. wing of the hospital. Cedric is a dragon who had his first shift when his dragon decided to go to sleep and made him walk back home naked. Abel and Woofy went for a hike was getting some water for the dog when the dog ran away to Cedric. Abel chased after it and found Cedric petting his dog and felt the pull to him, Cedric’s dragon said mate when he saw Abel. He had been raised as an alpha but he was an omega but the elders voted for him to still be the next heir and accepted Abel as his mate. Good book!.

Cedric had an inkling that the expectations of others that he would present as an alpha, the next in a long line of alphas, might be premature. He winds up not only presenting as expected, he finds his mate where he does not expect it and they build a life and family together. I liked Abel a lot. He rolled with the punches and was open to being a dragon's mate, something he could not have seen coming. I liked how the community still saw Cedric's potential and kept him as the heir. Value wherever you are, whatever you are.

I wanted to like this book as I was in a major MM mood and to top it off, it is a shifter book, so I had high hopes for it. I think I got the book recommendation from someone.
There were some spelling errors while reading, and some of the facts didn’t line up or make sense. There were multiple times I had to go back to the start of the chapter to figure out who was talking, and that pulled me out of the story way too many times for me to enjoy it.

This was a great book. I loved the connection and chemistry between Cedric and Abel. Cedric didn't that when he turned 25 that not only would he have his first shift but he would also find his fated mate. Abel didn't know about shifters but got a surprise when he saw Cedric do so. There is a lot of sweetness and heat in this book and as well as a wonderful HEA. I can't wait to see what the rest of this series has in store for us.
