May Moore, 29, an average Midwestern woman and deputy sheriff, has always lived in the shadow of her older, brilliant FBI agent sister. Yet the sisters are united by the cold case of their missing younger sister—and when a new serial killer strikes in May’s quiet, Minnesota lakeside town, it is May’s turn to prove herself, to try to outshine her sister and the FBI, and, in this action-packed thriller, to outwit and hunt down a diabolical killer before he strikes again.
A body is found floating peacefully in the lake in May’s hometown, and soon, more begin to appear. This body seems too peaceful, the murder too eerily calm.
Can May enter this killer’s mind and crack the case before he claims his next victim?
A page-turning and harrowing crime thriller featuring a brilliant and tortured Deputy Sheriff, the MAY MOORE series is a riveting mystery, packed with non-stop action, suspense, jaw-dropping twists, and driven by a breakneck pace that will keep you flipping pages late into the night.

I powered through the first three volumes of the series simply because I had the three volume collection. I was unimpressed and disappointed since I felt it compared poorly to the author's previous series. But I discovered volumes four (this one) on my Kindle and figured what the heck.
Well, there are improvements - the protagonist's aching insecurities have subsided some - they are certainly less prominent. But once again, as in books 1-3, the rural counties in their area have a serial killer at large. Two high school girls are murdered and a third is missing.... Nope. Not buying it.
All the books are connected, not just by the characters but the location and the underlying theme of finding out what happened to the missing youngest sister. But with at least 8 dead over four books (probably more, but that's all I can accurately remember) and no ensuing outside interest or press investigations we are now as divorced from reality as a.science fiction novel about life on the moon! Pierce's protagonist is more consumed by her insecurities than the sheer number of dead bodies she's been.dealing with!
And yet, of the four so far, this one might be a place to start reading the series. If you were really interested.
So hooked on this series! Between the sister dynamic between May and Kerry along with the mystery of their missing sister Lauren, I am dying to know what happened! In this installment we see May start to struggle with figuring out her current case and finding the killer, but when she does, she gets into her usual predicament of fending them off by herself. I feel like I live for the end of the book where we get a little snippet of Lauren’s disappearance and the potential of a break in her case, and I find that I like that more than the actual mystery of the book itself – this cliffhanger about Lauren’s case was probably the best because we find out that not only is there someone to go after, it also looks like Lauren was targeted in the first place. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The parts of this book written in the POV of the victim/victims were good-they creeped me out and had great suspense. Unfortunately, there were only a few of these passages. The dialogue was tragic and bland ): some examples being “quick, let’s run” and “we’re not letting go of you, we don’t trust you.” Eeek….
Teenagers are disappearing and later on are found dead. May is in charge of the search for the killer until the FBI presence is requested because there are three people already dead and the case is that of a serial killer. As always, May feels undermined by her sister but she works with herself not to let her self-esteem issues have a negative result on the case. With Owen's support, they keep on searching for the culprit, even though there's a strong suspect under questioning. A story full of action, relatable situations between siblings, and fast-paced that provides good entertainment for a few hours. I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
An 18-year-old female student has been missing 2 weeks with no clues where she is until a raft with candles and her body is found on the lake. Then another female goes missing. When her body is found in a similar manner the chief calls the FBI & May's sister comes to investigate. She has a suspect in mind when May gets her from the airport. While she's questioning a suspect another girl goes missing & May & Owen try to figure out who this killer is. Loved this book & the ending-WOW! You've got to read this one!
Such a riveting series about May Moore a Deputy teams up with Deputy Owen to solve a murder mystery where they live before the need to call in Kerry her FBI agent sister. This storyline could trigger those who have similar siblings issues as between May and Kerry. I’m glad that May is doing her complete best to work alongside her sister who treats her horribly. I love to read on how May can seek out the required information to catch the killer which improves her strength and character.
This one was no different. Small town police officer tackling large cases & calling in her FBI sister for back up.
Their careers have been shaped by their younger sister going missing when they were younger.
The relationship development between the sisters united by a common goal to solve their sister's case is interesting & adds to the entertainment factor.
These are really not that great, not after the first one. Rather predictable. No fantastic writing. However, I'm not usually that great at guessing the who dunnit, so I kind of like being able to be guess. I'm also a bit interested in the romantic storyline arching in the background. So I might, strangely, keep reading.
I could not wait for this book to come out and stayed up until 2:00AM to finish it I just love this series this book should be a ten star book I highly recommend this book to everyone Dorothy Schaefer
All four books in this series are too much alike. Same overall plot, same unchanged family interaction. I listen to audiobooks. I am accustomed to voice changes, emotions expressed, all that makes listening vivid and enjoyable. These books are just read out loud.
Writing quality is very poor, and the protagonist is so insecure & whiny. I couldn’t even root for her. I like a serial killer mystery but this was so unrealistic & predictable. Maybe if I had read the other books first I would’ve liked it more.
This story kept me on the edge of my seat I love the characters and the story itself I wasn't sure if the sist.ers were going to get along or not but it turned out they were great
This is the second Blake Pierce book I've read. It was okay but I once again did not click with the story. I'll say what I did about the last book, not my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean it won't be yours
