Wright Bastards #3
Seducing the Knave
A sheltered heiress fleeing a loathsome fate.
Lady Elvina Fowler refuses to marry her wastrel guardian, a man willing to go to villainous lengths in order to claim her inheritance. In desperation, she flees her home, hoping to find refuge in London. But the way is fraught with dangers, not the least of which is a charming but ruthless brigand who agrees to see her safely to town—for a precious fee.
An irreverent crime lord who protects his own.
Max Owen was born in the rookery and learned to survive by doing whatever necessary to keep what’s his. As a crime lord in London’s dangerous underworld, Max does not trust easily. And a runaway heiress has absolutely no place in his life. Yet, he can’t seem to shake the proud and impulsive beauty. And oddly…he doesn’t want to.
A journey neither expected.
A random meeting on the road to London leads to undeniable passion between a man who loves to break the rules and a woman accustomed to getting her way. It’s a battle of wills between these opposite but equal forces until an enemy from Max’s past threatens to destroy a future that’s barely begun.

About the author
Amy Sandas
89 books357 followersMy love of romance began one summer when I was thirteen and complained of boredom. I ended up with one of my mother's Barbara Cartland books and an obsessive interest that expanded from there. My affinity for writing began with sappy pre-teen poems and led to a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on Creative Writing from the University of Minnesota--Twin Cities.
I love pizza, wine, and dark brooding heroes! With a husband, three kids, and two dogs at home, it can be difficult to find the time (and the motivation!) to write. But somehow the words keep showing up on the page. I am endlessly grateful to the many wonderful readers who enjoy my books and ask for more!

Really liked this book; so much to love, including an amazing new book boyfriend. Max was one of those handsome, confident, cocky, dangerous, sexy as fuck, protective, smokin hot, dirty talking self-made St Giles bad boys who stepped right out of my fantasies and onto the page. And oh, the man has a heart of gold. Can you tell I have it bad?
I’m one of those readers who wants the main characters to be together for as much of the story as possible. Forced proximity is definitely my jam… the fact that Max and Elle spent the vast majority of the book together, with all their delicious, intense chemistry and snappy banter left me one very happy reader.
I also have to mention the St Giles setting, which added a dimension of world building to the story that’s missing from many regencies. Dangerous and dark, heartbreaking poverty, yes, but the author also showed us goodness and camaraderie and belonging, a close-knit community where for every thief or scoundrel, there were many more who were fiercely protective and looked out for one another. It was an eye-opener for Elle, and watching the pampered, privileged lady slowly realize the many shades of gray in life, and even appreciate their raw beauty, was very satisfying.
I’m sick at the moment, full RTC when I’m feeling better! There truly was an interesting, well-written story here that deserves a thoughtful review but my fevered mind is just stuck on a loop of Max, Max, Max lol.
“Take me, luv,” he whispered darkly. “Take all of me.”

I'm absolutely bamboozled. This book is fucking HOT. was not expecting that at ALL. This certainly will not be the last book i read by this author. Thank you from a horny single who is emotionally unstable. Authors like you help me to escape from my real life problems and giant therapy bills. If you are a lost soul start reading historical smut. This shit is a drug

Lady Elvina Fowler is on the run from her wastrel guardian, refusing to let him force a marriage and steal her inheritance. As a crime lord in London’s underworld, Max Owens does not trust easily. But an unlikely meeting between the two leads to unshakable chemistry as he reluctantly helps her flee to London and hide in his home.
This is book three in the Wright Bastards series, but it stands alone very well. Book one's couple makes a small appearance, as do two characters from her Fallen Ladies series.
I love Amy Sandas' books, and this is another winner for me. I love how she throws together unlikely characters and really builds a beautiful foundation of attraction, vulnerability, and trust. Plus, the steam was cranked up and well developed, and the dual enemies lurking in the background keep things interesting.
Tropes: Anti-Hero, Runaway Heiress, Class Difference, Protector, Road Trip
Steam: 5
* I received a copy from the author and this is my honest review.

This was an enjoyable historical with Elle (h) as a spoiled young lady whose life was turned upside down following the deaths of her parents and she's on the run from her awful guardian. She happens to see Max (H) as she's trying to escape to London and pays him to help her travel there safely. Of course, Max is smirky and high-handed and Elle is easily outraged and innocent, but they have nicely built tension along their journey. A bit of danger and a bit of seduction also happen along the way. Then unexpectedly these two spend more time together once they reach London when events don't go to plan for Elle. Written in third person, dual POV. No ow drama, some om drama from h's guardian who's trying to force a marriage on her to take her inheritance, h is a virgin and H is not (he didn't have relationships and while he does have several times he thinks of how he usually was with women or how he'd been with many women, it's clear that Elle is different). I've only read book 1 in the series and I do think this stands alone esp given how secretive Max was, even with his family. He is written with an East End accent and some readers may be bothered by it, kind of similar to how some readers struggle with the way authors write Scottish accents.
While Elle was a pretty upfront character, although more resilient than she first appeared, Max was much more complicated since he effectively had two lives that he kept separate. He had his East End/St. Giles life he'd grown up in and decided to change, then his Wright family life once he learned he had half-brothers and a half-sister. He is a very closed off character because of compartmentalizing his life so he's very slow to open up to Elle and even then, it's not much. This did make me feel like their relationship development wasn't as strong as it could have been. Even though they had all this tension and chemistry and spent a lot of time together. The steaminess was well-written, his possessiveness and protectiveness were great, I just wanted more on page connection outside of the back and forth and the bedroom activities. I did like Elle's growth and the deeper aspects of Max's character though.
There are two potential dangers happening throughout the book - Elle's guardian who's wrecked up her life and an old ally turned enemy of Max's. Both plot lines are tied up by the end of the book, but I didn't love the resolution to one (even though it was explained why more retribution wasn't handed out, I wanted more lol) and I was a bit confused by some reveals later about the other since Max apparently knew more than had been revealed previously. There's also a .
Several side characters were definite bright spots. Max's half-sister Caillie was a great character in book 1 that I read and she continued to shine in her scenes in this one. There are a group of women that Elle ends up befriending that had some nice depth. Of course, two of the other Wright brothers make appearances, as well as the countess, Worthy. I also really liked Max's butler.
The story ends in a HFN and while it was a good one, part of it involved handling of one of the bad guys still and I instead wanted more time with Max and Elle settled in their lives and happy. I really wanted to see some of Elle's day to day considering how much time she spent feeling trapped at times in the story but then how she flourished as she took control and became more active. Then there's a lead-in to the next book, which is Caillie's.

I did not expect to love this book as much as I did but it might be my favorite from this series!!! Max is a very, very dishy hero. If you liked the rough, sexy heroes that toe the line of criminal activity like Kleypas’s Derek Craven, you’re going to love Max! He’s tough and dangerous and bad…and also a whole lot of mush around Elle, women in need and little orphans.
I loved how determined and self possessed Elle was. She was smart and always got herself out of bad situations with her wits and her audacity and I love seeing those traits in more quiet heroines like Elle was. She wasn’t a very extroverted, adventurous heroine but she asserted her strength in more subtle ways and I will always love that.

Will her flee give her answers she did not know she was looking for …
An other fantastic read the author adds to this series.
Like many I guess, I was curious about Max, the youngest of the Wright brothers, the one with the shadowy past, one filled with pain, crimes and sins.
Max since he learned he has siblings paid great attention to never mix his two lives, he keeps everything compartmented and separated. One part among the toffs and the other with the kind of tight knitted team he created while raising himself from the slums of the city.
He is a man who controls his surroundings, he takes full measures of everything, leaving few things to hazard.
Thus accepting to help Elle is a gamble, he immediately feels she is trouble with a capital T, yet something in her calls his name. Even the woman is infuriating but a delight to look at and so entertaining when poked and taunted. She awakens his every senses.
I just loved Max, he is cocky, naughty and confident in everything he undertakes. He leaves nothing to hazard and while Elle is a drop of unknown in his coffee, he does not let it deterring him to have fun with her fiery temper, to crumble all her defenses when he thinks his walls will stood her onslaught. Still she might be disturbing his quiet assessing inner self but he is driven to protect what is his, so he follows his designed path rather unperturbed, altering his course when he only feels it is needed.
It was impressive how calculating and controlling he is on everything around him, yet it does with a gentle touch, or not if necessary.
Elle definitely did not stood a chance against his devastating charm and irresistible charisma.
She lived a happy and spoiled life under her parents protection, by loosing them, it signed her entry in the adult world, a world less obliging to her will. And willful she is, why she is a good match for Max’s swagger. For all her haughty stares and prideful retorts, she is a kind and caring woman. She just lived a too sheltered life to really know it.
Why she does not let a downfall impede the course of her fate.
She might be a bit too certain and trusting at first, still she is discerning enough to ascertain to whom she can grant her confidence. And Max is one of them even if his methods are not always conventional.
The author with this new read delivers an awesome story of the arrogant but gentle sinner and his perfectly suited counterpart.

4.5⭐️
I absolutely loved this book—mostly because of the characters rather than the plot, which is usually the opposite for me. Max and Elle completely carried the story. Their banter was perfect, their chemistry was incredible, and their relationship honestly had me blushing at times. They were just so fun to read.
That said, the ending was my only real disappointment. It felt rushed compared to how much buildup there was throughout the story. I kept expecting a big, dramatic confrontation or showdown, and instead it was over almost immediately. After such a strong character-driven story, the conclusion felt a little anticlimactic.
Even so, this book had my brain completely occupied the entire time I was reading it. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately, and this one pulled me right out of it. For that alone, I’m grateful—and honestly, Max and Elle are characters I won’t forget anytime soon.
[summary for me]
Lady Elvina Fowler refuses to marry the vile guardian determined to steal her inheritance, so she does the only thing she can—she runs. Her desperate escape leads her straight into the path of Max Owen, a dangerous crime lord born in London’s rookery who survives by bending every rule imaginable.
Max has no patience for sheltered ladies or their problems, but when the stubborn and impulsive heiress hires him to escort her safely to London, he reluctantly agrees—for the right price. What begins as a simple arrangement quickly turns into something far more complicated as their journey forces them into close quarters and sparks fly between two equally strong-willed people.
Elvina refuses to be intimidated by Max’s dark reputation, and Max finds himself both irritated and fascinated by the fearless woman who refuses to back down from him. Their constant banter and growing attraction turn their journey into a battle of wills—and hearts—until a threat from Max’s past puts everything they’re beginning to build at risk.

“How do ye feel?” he murmured against her ear.
“Ruined,” she sighed.
His chuckle was warm and rich, stirring the fine curls at her nape. “Not yet, luv. But I intend to see ye fucking destroyed before the night’s through.”
_____________
Whew, I LOVED this book! Elle is an heiress and orphan running away from her villainous cousin who wants to marry her for access to her inheritance because he's spent everything else. Max is the bastard son of the previous Earl of Wright and king of the rookeries in st. Giles, one of London's worst areas.
Elle meets Max at an inn and enlists his help on getting her to safety in London - for a fee. She's innocent and a little waspish and he's sauve, self assured and decidedly roguish. Their chemistry burns but things progress slowly as they get to know each other and change each other forever.
THOUGHTS: The spice is pretty good (could have been dirtier but still pretty great), the characters are good together and I loved getting to know Max more. It's so sweet to see Max come to care for and love Elle and Ellie to slowly grow, learn to trust him and learn more about the world around her. I can't wait for the next book!

I liked the writing, I liked the concept . I could not stand Elle, she was rude and generally a cow I kept going to over 40% but then I just didn’t want to waste any more time on her.
I understand being a bit waspish to a rogue , but she was just rude, barely any gratitude for help. In London with nowhere to go and she goes to his house laying down terms for if she stays…. No hun you should have your tail between your legs begging for help. There was no real emphasis on her worry or sadness etc considering her peril was real, everything felt superficial and unlikeable about her. She did admit she was being rude but it didn’t stop her or make her more likeable. Max was a stereotypical bad boy but I actually wish he’d have told her to F-off and be grateful because ugh!
I’m sad because I like the trope but I’m not enjoying the mega-b#tch heroine.

Another winner from Amy. Wow, that is all I can say about this fantastic story. Who would have thought that a crime lord and a lady of quality would mesh so well? Okay, so everyone would, this is a romance. I love a gruff man from the wrong side of the tracks and so does Elle. They are so simpatico it really was a pleasure reading their story. The relationship is built on trust and caring and I could see Elle moving right alongside Max in his endeavors. I won’t give away a plot point in the story, so run out and get this book. You won’t regret it. Oh, and I think this is the sexiest book Amy has written and it really works well with this story. Amazing!!!

I read my first book by Amy Sandas in June 2020. This is now my 13th books by her. I have liked her books since the first one I picked up. I like her writing, love her stories and the sex is well written.
I loved this story. It was so good. The characters were so well written and with great depth. I loved Elle and Max. I loved their interactions. I loved the way they talked to each other. The sex was "off the chain" good and super hot. Just all around good read. Can't wait for book 4.
Definitely recommend. So damn good.

I liked the banter between Max and Elle. Elle runs away from her cousin/guardian because he is trying to force her to marry him so that he can get her dowry. She spots Max in an inn, and she hires him to help her travel safely to London. When Elle gets to London, she realizes that Max is the only person who can help her. The chemistry between Elle and Max was great.
This can be read as a standalone. Seducing the Knave is perfect for fans of Lisa Kleypas.

I loved this story! We first meet Elle trying to escape from an unwanted marriage when she encounters Max. She asks for his help even though she thinks he's arrogant and robbing her for his assistance. She thinks she's left him behind but ends up encountering her Guardian. She escapes him and runs to Max to help her. He does and we watch the relationship develop. We see what happens when his past life catches up to his present and the price he pays.

This is such a great read. Max is so much more than he seems, and I really enjoy that aspect. The story is made better by the circumstances that bring Max & Elle together. Thier story is full of action, passion, and intrigue. I really enjoy this series and cannot wait for the next installment.

Seducing the Knave book 3
My favorite so far! The whole series has been entertaining but book 3 has been my favorite. Definitely reading the rest. Looking forward to Bishop and Callie’s story.

Max is one of my two top listed heros side by side with Sebastian Lord St Vincent (Devil in Winter/Lisa Kleypass) ^_=
Both hottest as hell :))))

Book 3 in the series. This is another good offering by this author. A few characters from other books popped in. Trials and tribulations ✔️ steaminess ✔️ funny ✔️
This is a stand alone book but I recommend to also read the other books for continuity.
ARC provided by the Author. This is my honest opinion.

I'm giving this a four-star just on Max Owen alone. This authors books can be very long winded and repetitive with all these angry aggressive heroines.
