I read Mason and Gabby's story in just one sitting. I couldn't put their story down especially once Gabby said no to Mason. It felt so deserving because Mason is a cocky man and women should fall to their knees for him. So that was refreshing to see Gabby deny him. But Gabby's exactly what he needs. You can see his character growth after they got together. I loved how sweet he is with her. They're very sweet together. I don't know why he never thought of having a relationship when he's that swoon-worthy. But I guess he's waiting for Gabby. And I loved how their friends are very supportive of them. I really enjoyed their story!

Cute Swoony and steamy
This is Ms. Akridge's spiciest book thus far. She brought the steam in this one Y'ALL. Listen, Break Away had me smirking and smiling, and I had a goofy grin on my face. Gabby and Mason are sweet and cute, and you just want to read more about them. I love that they have insecurities and weren't afraid to express them. There is nothing I did not like about these characters. Hold up, their friends Chrissy and Chandler got together and broke up in this book. I need to read their story; it's going to be sooooooo juicy🤩

Our FMC has had a tough time in life - selling books at least and with her family’s location. So when Mason comes in one day as a replacement for a friend for her cover model for her book - sparks fly, chemistry sparks and well things change.
Mason - a bit of a overconfident boy toy who’s been in the life of women basketball and his dog boss. Still grieving losses, he moves with life with nothing but his career and his single life in mind. But when he meets our FMC in a photo shoot, suddenly life looks a little brighter.
But you know secrets can come and interfere, but luckily for us, we got a strong and tough and resilient couple! Go them!
My main review is that I enjoyed - the writing style so damn smooth and flowing nicely along with the pacing of the plot. The characters were developed well enough to sympathise cheer and root for. The chemistry was sizzling and so were the teary love confessions (oye my heart needed a breather). The side characters were absolute angels and I loved how they all just were one big happy family.
My only main concern was - that less drama was shown for the problems (maybe it could’ve been drawn out a little longer in favour of showing their consistent bliss and solved more realistically).
All in all, I enjoyed this smooth steamy and romantic soft charming little novel about two different worlds meeting and setting everything aflame for a brighter future.
Certainly would love to meet the other characters, but I’m good with this current couple too.

Believe me when I say, you are not ready for Gabby and Mason!!! All the swoon from a playboy and all the sass from an author. I love fierce protective macho men in books who get their attitude adjusted from their girls. I truly loved Mason. He is fierce, loyal and a little bit broken. This book is packed full of heat, witty banter, sass and arrogance!! Glimpses of our favorite characters from previous books is always a bonus!! This is an absolute must read book and series!!!

All it takes is the right person to tame the beast and playa and this proves it. If you’ve been with this series from the beginning then you are like me. This is Mason and Gabby’s story. My heart bled for Mason and all he went through but he came out in the end a better person. I need Chandler’s book ASAP!! 🖤🔥🏀🔥🖤

July 14, 2022Gabby is a romance author stuck in a bind when her friends husband, Cal (from Foul Shot, book 2 in the Hawks series), can’t make it for her cover photoshoot. Instead, he sends Mason. It gets even steamier when the photographer suggests Gabby joining in on the shooting having it be a couple cover. After that day Mason can’t get her off his mind. Gabby is determined to use her experiences with Mason going forward to give her inspiration for her writing, because why not! Real life always translates so well on paper.
Their relationship is fun and flirty and so easy. Mason might have had to chase Gabby a little at first but who doesn’t a good chase when the guy is as swoon worthy as Mason!
They fit so well with the whole Hawks crew. We are getting a FMC who is so fun and relatable in her leggings and relaxed attitude. But also being in this whole book community who doesn’t just dream of all these book boyfriends. Gabby gets her own real life book boyfriend written for her four our enjoyment!

Wow! Just when I though the Hawks book series couldn’t get any better! Break Away just put the extra sprinkles on a delicious luscious book series! I literally couldn’t put this book down. The characters are fun and witty. The development of their personalities is great! You are right there with them. The characters are relatable, the author does an amazing job at creating a world that you can see yourself in. Feeling there laughter, their love and pain. I love a good book that allows you to see more into previous characters and introduces you to the new characters in a way that you are counting down to the next book to see where the stories go for all of the characters you’ve grown to love. I laughed, gasped, worried, teared up and sighed those Aw that’s perfect sigh when reading this book. I’m counting down until September for the next installment and to November for the final book of this wonderful series! Take a break and order this book. You won’t be disappointed! I will be rereading those entire series….again and again. It has become one of my favorites!

This was a great story that was engaging, entertaining and a must read. Mason and Gabby's first interactions at the photo shoot are just the beginning of why you won't be able to put this book down. Mason's surprise for Gabby was so thoughtful. The characters in the book are well developed.
The ladies in this series are very supportive of each other and it's nice to see all of them rallying around Gabby as she goes thru the angst on her way to a HEA ending with Mason. The scenes with Mason/Chandler and Landon/Cal show how Landon and Cal support their ladies friends. Once you start reading this one you won't want to put it town. Very entertaining!!! Love this series and this latest book is probably my favorite but that could change when the next one releases.

Neither Mason or Gabs are looking for anything series, this was supposed to be a bit of fun, but it’s soon quite clear that they can’t get each other out of their heads.

Break away is book 4 in the Hawks series. It is Gabby and Mason story. J.Akridge is an author I found on Instagram when I seen the promos for One More Night. Since that book I've picked up a few others and got this book as an ARC to read.
Gabby is a take no nonsense author while Mason is the playboy basketball player.
This book is packed full of heat, banter, sass and arrogance!!
I love seeing the guy you think is a playboy turns out to be a romantic alpha male. Who will put her needs and wants first.

This is the fourth book in the Hawks Series but can be read as a standalone. Gabby and Mason will take you on an emotional roller coaster in this book. Neither had an goal for love. She was a romance author consumed with her books and he was a playboy basketball player who was consumed with himself. This is a slow burn romance and she finds out that there is another side to Mason. Their banter was hilarious at times. The book was a great read that is hard to put down. Secrets cause a problem or two but there's an HEA in the end. Their chemistry was explosive. i read an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review it.

This book was catchy from the start! Honestly probably my favorite book in the series. Gabby and Mason's relationship starts off on the wrong foot. Seeing how they maneuver and click was amazing! I love seeing the guy you think is a playboy turns out to be a romantic alpha male. There is just nothing sexier! She has no interest in him and he isn’t used to women not wanting him. But can he change her mind?

Loved how the ball player in this book is paired with a romance author!! Gabby and Mason definitely do not have a meet cute and I really enjoyed how devastated Mason was at being turned down! But once Gabby gives in to Mason’s charm, they light up the pages of this book!
This one was a lot of fun, light on angst and heavy on the steam! Gabby definitely knows how to put Mason in his place. So enjoyed seeing faves from the previous books in the series too! Super excited for Chandler’s book next!!

An amazing book. Mason is a cocky basketball player who helps out a fellow player by taking their place as a model for Gabby’s photo shoot. After Gabby runs him down he can’t get her out of his mind. Who did she think she was turning down a major basketball player. Gabby was not expecting to like Mason but she thought she may get some useful information to use in her romance books she writes. Will their attraction to each other be more than just research or will they become more. I suggest you read this book, you will not be disappointed.

Loved this book! I have really enjoyed this entire series so far, and this book is no exception! Mason and Gabby are HAWWWT and I really enjoyed Gabby's personality. It was kinda obvious what the drama points were going to be, but the book was so entertaining that it was worth every page! I enjoyed having a strong ethnic female mc who wasn't "needing" a man to find her self worth. Kudos J Akridge to another slam dunk!

Amazing book! Loved every bit of it! Spicy content was right on point! Storyline was amazing! Loved how the book still connects back to others in the series!

I was hooked on this book! Gabby was needing someone for her shoot and did not expect Mason to step in nor did she expect to also be part of the photo shoot for her upcoming book! They both had great character development and I really enjoyed reading their story cannot wait for the rest of the series to continue! 4.5⭐️

What do you get when the sassy feisty author and a playboy pro athletic, who meets the one woman who says No? You get an entertaining story. Mason turns out to be a good guy. One total opposite of portrayed character. Gabby was not expecting the real Mason. Their story is really cute and J. Akridge delivered an entertaining well written story.

This is the fourth book of this series. J. Akridge has wrote an outstanding story. I loved all the characters. The plot was amazing. The chemistry between Gabby and Mason was HAF from the very beginning. I just loved how she treated him after their first meeting. It was hilarious. If you love a great sports story with a lot of sass and heart then this book is for you

Gabby and Mason were instantly attracted to one another; however, he only wanted one night. As the storyline develops so does the attraction between the two. I enjoyed that Gabby was an author of romance and that they meet as a result. While the novel is part of a series it can be read as a stand-alone since there are merely interconnected characters. Great sports romance!

This is the fourth book in this amazing series, and this is Gabby and Mason’s story. This is a well written fun story, with witty banter, humor, relatable and undeniable characters, secrets, and love, which leads to a wonderful sports romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Gabby and Mason's story starts with a meet cute and ends with one of them not liking the other.
This then turns into a competition. I love this series and this book is a great addition to the Hawk players. A great read!!

Definitely worth reading!

Mason and Gabby were an perfect beach read! That first encounter was H O T, like fan your face HOT! From that point on I was hooked! I laughed, I swooned, I almost threw my kindle…it was all the good stuff!
